Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if Davis rotates in a little throughout the game or plays the role of the backup and just takes over late in the game when it's out of reach.  My guess would be the latter.  They might want to give Poorman 2-3 straight quarters to run the offense and see how he drives the bus.

Boorman came in at the end of the 2nd qtr, which must have been when Fulford got injured.  He did a great job moving the offense in the second half.  He looked ready to take the majority of the snaps, however, I would guess someone else will get a third or more of the action just in case Poorman goes down.  The Raiders are lucky to be so rich at the position, albeit they are very inexperienced.

4. We won without significant injuries. I see some people on other D3 sites coming after Mount. What's new? At least we didn't need a Hail Mary (St. Thomas) or last minute TD to win (UWW). UWW had a tough opponent, but ST can't say the same.

You do realize Concordia-Moorhead is a tough game, especially at their place.  They would finish 2nd in the OAC.  And also, St Thomas had the lead until a completion and shovel pass put them in the lead very late in the game.

Thanks for the link. They might be a solid team, but I stand by what I said. They've been 7-3, 8-2, 8-2,8-2 which is no slouch at all, but they've got 2 losses already this year and 1 was to a 1-5 NAIA team and still have to play St Johns. They played ST Thomas tough, but does that mean St Thomas just had an off day and survived (we know that it happens to all teams) or isn't as good as we think? I know Roberts isn't playing as well. Last year we beat John Carroll at their place by 33. My point is that people are trying to nitpick UMU to death over everything, but we can't question UWW or St T weaknesses.

I was just trying to have conversation with fellow fans, that's all. This wouldn't take the out of my top 4 teams to be in the semifinals, but I'm trying to gauge where teams are now in mid season form.

The free time has been great.   No more 4 hour trips to Wilmington!   Woo-hoo!

17 thousand at WWW???!!!  What an atmosphere that must have been.  Incredible.

It had a raucous aura...or so I'm told.

And the good guys won!!
I'm not impressed.  I looked at Mount's box scores from last year and they drew 17,142.  Of course, that's for 6 regular season home games, but that's a minor detail.

Okay, cool.  All I wanted to do was point out St. Thomas also played a tough opponent this weekend.

I have seen more nit-picking from the Mount Union fans then I've read elsewhere.  But I think they've come to expect greatness and flawless execution.  Enjoy it!

HScoach -

I thought Wilma would be the one trip you couldn't live without?!  What about Salem this year, should the Purple Raiders make it (did I really just type that?)?  I'm sending my wife and daughter back to Cincy the week before, so I'm headed down no matter who is playing.  I think I'm flying into Reagan in DC.

I really hope Mount Union is involved, though... so you and Skunks, Skunksidekick, hurf and mtfan are down there.

Did anyone record the JV game this week?  Didn't get a chance to stop by but heard a few kids for Mount really shined including Dom Davis and a few of the receivers.

People mention other forums where some comments are flying about MU.  Can anyone offer links to these other sites?

Thanks

Not other sites and not other forums on this site.  Basically just in here, from MU fans themselves.  Nobody else is saying peep about MU.  UMHB beat Linfield by 300, UWW beat three top 10s in back-to-back-to-back weeks (we call this the Emanski) and MU still holds 15 of the 25 first place votes in the poll.

The haters and the doubters and whatever else just aren't out there, guys.

I thought this was true, too, to be fair...if you look in the Comments section of some things on the D3 main page, there is some stuff like that.  For example:

http://www.d3football.com/notables/2016/10/week6-top25-roundup

They're pretty stupid and tired arguments (Mount Union has never won a playoff game on the road...ergo this year's team isn't any good?) but one person, at least, is there making them.

The comments section of the d3football website does draw some people somewhat less thoughtful than those found in these forums.  I've disagreed with people in the various forums before, but by and large people know what they're talking about and we just end up interpreting the data differently.  The comments section, though...woof.

The D3 site comments are what I was referring to. A couple of WW fans complaining about playoffs already with UMU getting home field advantage, etc. Look, I get it. UWW has had Mounts number for a couple of years, but right now they're as similar programs as you're going to find out there. 6 titles for WW and 5 for UMU in the last 11 seasons. The same arguments just get old, but I think that those come from many people new to D3 and the D3 writers usually set them straight on facts. One guy even tried to say that they should have the final four teams matchup for the first week of the season. Talk about a scheduling nightmare. We all know UMU doesn't have the toughest SOS, but with the OAC schedule the way it is, we can only play one out of conference team.

Both are fantastic programs with great coaches and players. The older I get, the more I am just trying to enjoy every moment of Purple Raider football because you don't know what the future holds. Enough rambling, I'm enjoying watching these seniors lead the younger guys and helping them develop and looking forward to the rest of the season!

Mount will rightly have home field advantage again through the playoffs, but if I was a player or fan I think I'd want to go on the road every other year just for the fun of it.
