Agreed that Titans looked sharp today and Augie defense looked porous.

Meador pretty much locks up the Offensive Player of the Year with his 400 yards and 5 TDs versus Millikin. Hiben didn't play and he still put up big numbers.

Not bad for a player that started the year as 2nd team QB.  A huge lesson for those sitting in the 2nd or 3rd team on the depth chart.  It only takes one play and your team needs you in a big way.  Train hard and be ready.

Now that the season for Augie has mercifully ended, I would be curious to hear from some of the recent/current players who posted about what a great coach Cushman is and how he's going to bring something amazing to Augie, when he was hired as the head coach.  He certainly brought something to Augie, but I don't think I would use the word amazing to describe leading Augie to their worst record since 1958.  Here's some advice for the players at Augie.  You don't need a head coach who is going to be your buddy and is someone you like to hang around with.  You need a head coach who can set a vision for the program, who hires the right people with experience who have demonstrated abilities to implement his vision, and who has a disciplined approach in establishing this vision with his players.  Based on watching this season unfold for Augie, Cushman has failed in all of these areas.

North Park played hard yesterday. This is not the same North Park that we have seen for the past many seasons. With their returning starters, they should get their conference win(s) next season.

Great season Cards!!!! Let's keep it going all the way to Salem!! Take it one game at a time!

My congratulations to North Central and to Coach Thorne for an outstanding year.  You are surely in a class by yourselves now, given how the season has played out.  I wish you all the best in the playoffs, unless you face my Titans again.  We are all hoping for the Titans to join you'all in the playoff mix.  We'll know in a few hours.  Again, my congrats to Coach Thorne and his staff, and to all the Cardinals.   Make the CCIW proud in the DIII playoffs.

Titans did look so much better yesterday, so much better than vs. Carthage and Millikin.  Great to see the no-huddle offense really go well, and to have a better running game.  When the D makes adjustments, takes stock of the opponent, they are very very good.  I thought the IWU receivers were just outstanding yesterday, making many tough catches, running crisp, effective routes.

Let's see what happens from here on in . . .

Thanks for recognizing the improvement in the Vikings.  I wish them well as they begin to prepare for the upcoming season.  Likewise good luck to North Central on a successful run in the championships.

IWU is in, and will host Monmouth in Round 1.

North Central will host Dubuque.

IWU could get to the quarterfinals before facing UW-Whitewater (with a Round 1 win, would have to get by St. Thomas in Round 2, and then a team from the East in Round 3).

North Central would run into Mount Union in Round 3 (would get Wabash in Round 2).

A shocker, as they take a 2-loss St. John Fisher.  Resumes of the top 2-loss candidates...

Team   W-L   SOS   Games vs. regionally ranked teams
Wheaton   8-2   .567   L @IWU, L @NCtrl
St. John Fisher   8-2   .566   L v.HOB, L @Sal
Baldwin-Wallace   8-2   .507   L @MTU
Randolph-Macon   8-2   .528   W v. HSC
St. Olaf   8-2   .526   L @UST
Montclair State   8-2   .517   W v. Cort, L v. Kean

Case Western Reserve, which had been regionally ranked ahead of IWU through last week, did not make it.  The North committee must have moved IWU ahead in the final regional ranking (which many predicted), but it's possible Case sat at the national table and blocked Wheaton from ever getting there.

Illinois College also a Pool C surprise.

Just now digging into this bracket and this has to be the coolest, most creative D3 football bracket I've ever seen.  They actually built a "national" bracket...wow.

New Tradition

I wonder if we hear the same from Mount this year as we did from UWW last year about being a 2 seed. North Central's is a very top-heavy quad with Mount, Wabash and NCC.
I am a NATIONAL Champion, and I refuse to lose!

Curious what you mean by "national" bracket.  Congrats to IWU (putting Green Weenies aside) and good luck!!  Can't believe SJF was selected over Wheaton.

Hey Cardinals ... I was in Naperville last year for your UWW game.  Now I will return for my alma mater.  Will I experience the same hospitality I did last year?

GO SPARTANS!

Looks like a men's basketball bracket, doesn't it?

They have connected the "pods" of 4 in a real different fashion.  For example, if still alive, IWU could play Johns Hopkins in Round 3, for example.  Or Wesley (Delaware) and Linfield (Oregon) can play in Round 2.  Or UW-Whitewater vs Salisbury in Round 3.

Outstanding.
