I'm re-launching this board on request. Hopefully it will do better than the last one did, which was closed after nobody posted in it more almost a year.
I'll give it a shot. Has anyone seen the Muhlenberg group run the Grinnell-style system? How does it look compared to last year? I applaud Coach Rohn for making the decision last year with a program that had some success without the use of the system. There's something to be said for including as many players as possible in what you're trying to accomplish.
I have seen the Muhlenberg ladies play and they have had a lot of success with it, I think that you need the team and players to buy into it as well. To play 2 mins at a time could be a style many players would not buy into. I think Winning helps them buy it.
However, I have to say the big news in conference is the ladies at Dickinson College. To be 6-1 without the aid of a starter last year. I think that their win against McDaniel makes them a contender as well...any thoughts?
I can't believe Dickinson beat McDaniel. What was the score? Was anyone at the game? Could Dickinson really be a contender?
Dickinson won by 6 or so. Also took that high powered Muhlenberg team out of it last night and are now 7-1 and are 3-1 in conference, with wins against the Mules and McDainel, in their only meeting!
Muhlenberg was terrible from the field in their game against Dickinson. I was shocked to see the final score, thinking it was inverted. To hold a team that runs the "system" to 57 points is impressive.
Dina Henry has done a heck of a job in her second season with the Red Devils who are competitive in the conference this year for the first time...in...

Oh god, I don't know...I can't think back that far. In fact, I don't know if the Dickinson women's team has ever been successful, and I went there. Never in my four years there (1998-2002), a few years before that, and until this season had there been some excitement around Dickinson women's basketball...but it seems somewhat justified now.
A trip to the CC playoffs would be a significant accomplishment.
The McDaniel/Hopkins game for tonight at 7 PM will be broadcast live by WTTR over the internet (for free).

The Dickinson - Hopkins game this saturday at 11 am might be the game of the year in the conference. Any predictions? My key player will be Jess Howard and the match up with Felix - any ideas?
Dickinson leads JHU 25-24 at the half. Coverage on WDCV-FM.

Red Devils win 55-48...first place, and their best season ever.
Not a stretch to say that either...
THE games of the year in the CC will be the possible final four of the CC tournament; Dickinson v Gettysburg and McDaniel v Johns Hopkins ... not to mention the final that will follow.
Can't wait!
It's been fun to watch the CC women's side this year with the emergence of Dickinson into the fray. The run the the finish should be as exciting.
Too bad Dickinson fans have such little sportsmanship. I don't think much of any team that allows their fans to celebrate when an oposing player is injured.
i'm not sure that the team has much control over their fans! seems sad though that fans would be that rude! looking forward to seeing where dickinson fairs in post season! seems as though they will be in the hunt! will look to see if they match up with a mac team! gotta love this time of the year!
The 2005-06 Centennial Conference Basketball Prospectus is now available online at http://www.centennial.org/basketball/prospectus . The Prospectus includes the coaches preseason poll, which tabs McDaniel as the favorite to defend its 2006 title. It has rosters, stats, schedules and all the facts and figures that a Centennial basketball fan could want entering the new season. We hope you enjoy the prospectus.
The Centennial Conference Basketball Network has a good one scheduled for Saturday, as Johns Hopkins travels to Allentown to take on Muhlenberg. Pat Cummings and Gordon Mann will have all the action of this renewal of one of the CC's top rivalries beginning approximately 1:50. For more information, go to the "Gameday" link on the Centennial basketball page.
The women's game begins at 4 PM with pregame coverage at 3:50 on http://www.broadcastmonsters.com/.
Muhlenberg is 11-1 and JHU is tied for first. Doesn't get much better than that.
Just wanted to say I have seen a lot of Basketball. Lots of talent in a lot of areas. But Jen Bengel from Gettysburg bullets is by far the real deal as in genuine. Great player, great team player, great attitude. Congrats to you Jen it has been a pleasure watching you for 4 years. You make Basketball a great game to watch. You certainly are one special gal you can just do it all and so poised!!!!!!
I am pretty sure you've been watching Jen for much longer than four years.
Maybe 3 1/2 years , I do not re call hearing anything about her before. But as I said She is the most consistant player I have seen in the last 3 years. I hope she coaches one day. She makes people play better and she is smart. And since I went to Gettysburg she has my vote
who do you think is the most poised pkayer on the court centennial conference?

Odd since you post from her hometown. With the same IP address as someone whom I already had a conversation with about impersonating someone whom they are not.
like I posted who do you think is the most poised girls basketball player in the centennial league? If you do not know the answer do not reply. JUST CURIOUS.

Sad to see this board so dead. And I thought it was just a football problem as far as a lack of fans posting.
This is quite intriguing, actually. There has been some excellent (maybe not on a national scale) football and basketball played in this conference over the years ... I'm disappointed there aren't more alumni and students showing their support and posting. I've been to quite a few Centennial games over the past two years, and the fan support at the events seems to be there (at least for the winning programs).
But why the lack of posting?
The reason I bring this up is because of the competitiveness of women this year. There are six schools that will enter the CC tournament with a legit shot at winning it. After realizing this, I came over to this board expecting to see pages and pages of posts (I hadn't looked over here since the end of last season) ... but all I find are two posts by the Steve Ulrich, two by Pat, one by Gordon and a handful by an impersonator. All that in one year's time. Geez.
Granted it's not as sad as the PAC board (no post in 11 months), but clearly the MAC (282 posts in less than seven months) has a bit more support.
Again ... what's the deal?
Quote from: eh ... just call me 'kid' on January 31, 2006, 11:38:39 AM

Well, actually only five schools will have a legit shot at winning the CC Tournament once they enter it, since only five teams get in, but your point is still valid.
It's come down to the final day for determining the Centennial Conference playoff field. Johns Hopkins and Muhlenberg have locked up their first-round byes ... but who gets the top seed and home court advantage for the final four? Listen to our friends at WMUH-FM for coverage of the Muhlenberg-Ursinus game.
Dickinson and Gettysburg are fighting for a first-round bye and meet in the regular-season finale at Bream Gym. Catch all the action courtesy of WDCV-FM.
The good folks at WTTR-AM will bring you live coverage of the McDaniel-Washington game that also has playoff implications.
Keep up with real-time scores on our "Score Blog" (http://centennialconference.blogspot.com) and enjoy an exciting day of Conference women's basketball action.
The 2006 All-Centennial women's basketball team is out and Gettysburg senior forward Jennifer Bengel has been named the Conference Player of the Year. Joining her on the first team is Muhlenberg's Kristen Piscadlo and Meghan Courtney, Johns Hopkins' Katie Kimball and Swarthmore's Karen Berk. The complete team can be found at http://www.centennial.org/basketball/2006/All_CC_WBK.pdf
Anybody heard how F&M finished up on their TX trip? I saw them play TU to open, and they were a class bunch of players, coaches and parents!
Kudos to Dana Johns on her NCAA post-graduate scholarship. I didn't get to see her play alot over the last two years. However, she was a class act as a player and is certainly deserving of the award.

Nice media guide for the Conference. Would like to see the CAC do something like it as well.
Before your conference has a media guide, your conference needs full-time staff. Two full-time people can get a lot more done than one part time person and one part-part-part time SID position that bounces between schools every year.
I'm sure there are qualified people who'd be interested, the CAC schools just need to pony up the money ...
The 2007 Conference schedule tips off tonight at four venues. You can watch two of the games (hopefully), as Haverford plans audio and video coverage of its opener against Dickinson. The CCBN will be in Lancaster to broadcast the Gettysburg-Franklin & Marshall contest. Live stats and play-by-play links of other action can be found on our Centennial "Gameday" site at http://www.centennial.org/basketball/women/gameday.html
I hope we can get some discussion going on here this year.
The Mule women look much better than expected this year. Graduating 8 seniors is tough, but the women are definitely stepping up the play. Wins against DelVal and DeSales this early in the season show that they are the real deal. Hopkins at Muhlenberg this weekend should be an awesome game.
Burgfan, I agree that it would be great to get some conversation going. I'm wondering though, which team do you support? Seems that someone named burgfan would be a Gettysburg fan, not a Muhlenberg fan.
I agree that the Mule women look strong. They had another great win on Saturday against Hopkins. Coach Rohn has good depth this year, even after graduating 8 solid players. Speaking of Coach Rohn, he's going for his 100th win on Tuesday vs Swarthmore. He really is doing a great job with the Muhlenberg program.
Well, I guess if no one else is going to post, it will be a fun season of talking to myself about the Mules.
Another nice win for the Mule women last night. Great to see some of the players off the bench getting some significant time (take note Lincoln men's coach).
Congrats to Coach Rohn on his 100th win. He's tied for the second fastest to get there in Muhlenberg history.
Great win for the Mules by a surprising 30-point margin. Emily Wright just keeps draining those threes (5 in the first half). Meghan Courtney with 19 points and Erin McSherry with 9 rebounds certainly look great. Coach Rohn keeps the great team play going, which is obvious when you look at stats like 15 assists and 11 players with points in the game.
If you would have asked me before the season started what the odds would be of this team starting out at 7-0, I would have probably given them a very slim chance. It just seems to be a continuation of last year's mentality of refusing to lose.
Another awesome job ladies. I'm looking forward to two more great games before the holiday break.

I hope we can get some discussion going on here this year.
It's easier to discuss if you don't delete your login. :)
Still no takers on women's basketball discussion? I guess I'll continue with my riveting coverage of Muhlenberg.
The Mule women struggled a bit in the first half against a scrappy Washington team, but put it away easily in the second half. Despite a less than stellar shooting percentage, Meghan Courtney still managed to score 30 points. Oh yeah, and she also had 15 rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Also can't overlook Erin McSherry's 10 rebounds, Emily Wright's 12 points and Lauren Boyle's 10 points in 12 minutes.
Next up is Susquehanna on Saturday. They are 6-1 this season with recent wins over Moravian and Wilkes. They seem to be strong defensively, so it could be an interesting matchup.
I'll at least join in with some fodder from the home office ... it was an impressive win for the Mules over Hopkins, but the other three wins in the CC are against Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore and Washington who are a combined 0-12 in the Conference this season. The real fun should begin with that three-game stretch from Jan. 11-17 against McDaniel, Johns Hopkins (again) and Ursinus.
In addition to watching the usual suspects (Dickinson, McDaniel, JHU), keep an eye on the Bears, who have a senior-dominated lineup, and Gettysburg, who has a young team that will only get better throughout the year.
It looks like a lively six-team race for the five Centennial playoff spots. I applaud your efforts to get some conversation going here and to everyone else ... we welcome your responses
Okay, I'll give you the conference wins haven't been against the top schools, but their last two non-conference wins are against DeSales (5-3) and Drew (5-4), so it isn't like they have been rolling over teams that don't have some good play. the conference schedule definitely does get tougher after the holiday break. It will be interesting to see what they can do.
Great comeback for the Mules today against a very tough Susquehanna team. Muhlenberg trailed by 8 with about 2 minutes to go in the game, but they stepped up the play to force an overtime and get a win. Susquehanna's defense was very strong and definitely had the Mules scrambling at times. It was a great test for Muhlenberg and also a great win.
I am sorry to say that I was disappointed in the fans that came with Susquehanna. It is absolutely no reflection on the players or their program, but it is sad to hear fans being so negative toward the opposing coach, team, and yes, even the refs. I wish more fans would just cheer on their team and leave the negativity somewhere else.

What fans? There were only 116 fans in attendance, and I'm sure Susquehanna's followers were slim-to-nill. Secondly, can you tell me you've never voiced your concerns of less-than-par officiating. Suck it up Mules.
rookie131, I have to concur with 'jamma's confusion (though I'd not voice it the same way). Susquehanna doesn't get any fans for women's games at home, I can't imagine they have a lively road following. Any details?
Considering the schools were on break, I thought Susquehanna brought a good number of people. One of the players is local, so I'm sure some of the fans came specifically to see her. The compaint on my part was regarding the negativity that seemed to be non-stop from the fans that were there. The game was great and I would have preferred to hear the fans cheering for the women that were playing their hearts out, not ripping the opposing coach and team.
And, my comment about the refs... Yeah, I have complained about the refs at a game, but not every call against a team is wrong. Hearing a fan yell at the ref that he or she is losing the game for the team is very frustrating for me. There were bad calls, good luck finding a game that doesn't have bad calls, but the ref isn't losing the game for your team.
Once again, I want to make it very clear that I didn't think this was a reflection on the team or coaches. Susquehanna has a great team and I wish them the very best of luck.
Still, rookie, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it was just that local contingent and not indicitave of our fans in general. Although I do hope to see more fans at the women's games after break...
Congrats to the Mules who are #21 in the USA Today ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches' Poll and #23 in the D3Hoops Top 25. I'm excited to see them back in action this weekend.
Great job by the Mules last night to win a tough one against F&M. Big kudos to F&M for their play, they have a strong team this year. With three players being very sick (2 of them starters), the Mules were able to hang in until the end for the win. I think this was a great test for them going into games vs McDaniel at home and Hopkins on the road.
In the most recent polls, the Mules are ranked #19 and #20. Nice job ladies!
Also notable is Emily Wright, who is ranked #8 in Three-Point Field-Goal Percentage. She has really turned it on this year to the delight of the fans.
A disappointing loss to McDaniel at home last week. The Terror definitely outplayed the Mules, but I'm surprised by the margin of the win. McDaniel definitely brought their A game. I hope this gets them some attention for being a really good team. They always play tough, but I think this team was exceptionally good.
An awesome win at Johns Hopkins. The first win there during the regular season for the Mules. Hopkins is a tough place to play and the Mules showed that they were ready to start a new winning streak.
Not sure what all of this means to their spot in the polls. Looks like a number of the top 25 teams struggled this week.
I also wanted to convey my sympathy to Coach Flynn's family and players at McDaniel. I saw him coach at Muhlenberg on Thursday, so it is surreal that he passed away the following evening. He seemed to be doing a great job with the McDaniel program and certainly appeared to be a class act.
McDaniel at Dickinson, 7:00
Let's see ... where do we begin? It's a matchup between the top two teams in the Conference. The Green Terror (16-2, 10-1 CC) is undefeated in eight road games this season, while the Red Devils (15-3, 10-2 CC) are 9-0 on the friendly hardwood of the Kline Center. It's one of the oldest series in the Conference, as the two clubs meet for the 63rd time in a series that began in 1970. Dickinson has won the last two regular-season meetings in Carlisle, but McDaniel captured the 2005 Centennial title over the Devils on the Kline Center floor. The Terror is the highest-scoring team in the Conference (68.7), while Dickinson has the stingiest defense (47.8 ppg). The Red and White protects the ball better than any team in the CC at 15.2 turnovers per game, while the Green and Gold is tops in takeaways (24.5). You can listen to the game on WDCV-FM 88.3 and follow live stats and play-by-play online - www.centennial.org/basketball/women/gameday.html.
Saturday's Top Game - Dickinson at Ursinus
The Red Devils (16-4, 10-3 CC) and the Bears (12-7, 9-4) meet in a critical contest that will have major playoff implications. Dickinson won the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 9 by a 66-55 count, as the Devils held Mary Kate Daley to just eight points on 4-of-12 shooting. Dickinson has won the last three meetings at Helfferich Hall and eight straight overall to take a 15-5 series advantage.
It's the final weekend of regular-season play in women's basketball and playoff spots are still up for grabs.
Muhlenberg at Ursinus (Women's Basketball)
The Bears (15-9, 11-6) need a win over the third-seeded Mules (19-5, 12-5) to secure a playoff berth. Muhlenberg has won the last three meetings against Ursinus by a combined total of 12 points.
Gettysburg at Dickinson (Women's Basketball)
It looks like the Bullets (15-9, 12-5) are securely in the field, but need a win to finish as the third or fourth seed. The Red Devils (20-4, 14-3) have the No. 2 seed for the tournament. Gettysburg can get its first season sweep of Dickinson since 2004 with a triumph.
Johns Hopkins at Franklin & Marshall (Women's Basketball)
The Blue Jays (13-9, 11-6) need a win over the Diplomats (6-17, 5-11), combined with an Ursinus loss, to keep their tournament hopes alive. A Hopkins win will even the all-time series at 27-27.
It's the opening night of the 2007 Centennial women's basketball tournament with a first-round game scheduled for Helfferich Hall in Collegeville, Pa.
Gettysburg at Ursinus, 7:00
The fourth-seeded Bears (16-9, 12-6 CC) play host to the fifth-seeded Bullets (15-10, 12-6) for the right to meet top-seeded McDaniel in Saturday's semifinals. Ursinus is making its first appearance in the Centennial tournament since 1998. The teams split their regular-season meetings, as Gettysburg (66-59) and Ursinus (53-50) each won on its home floor. Ursinus won the only meeting between the teams in the postseason, capturing a 94-90 overtime decision at Helfferich in 1995. Follow LIVE stats and play-by-play, courtesy of Ursinus Sports Information (http://www.ursinus.edu/livestats/xlive.htm).
The Gill Center at McDaniel College is the site for the women's basketball final four. Senior Day at Dickinson and nice support for a great senior class. Ursinus really had trouble with Dickinson's pressure, turning the ball over 26 times. But there were a lot of unforced errors as well. Ursinus seems to have a roster full of 4's and 5's.
FYI from Johns Hopkins regarding Saturday:
Due to our men's lacrosse game at Noon on Saturday, February 23rd, a variety of parking lots will be open at an event parking rate of $5-10. These lots are the Space Telescope Lot off of San Martin and 115 University Parkway (near the corner of San Martin and University Parkway). Metered spots will also be available, though limited on University Parkway and Charles Street. The parking lot behind the Athletic Center will not be available due to media and television needs.
Congrats to F & M for getting the number 1 seed in the playoff's. Conference ended up with 3 teams tied at 14-4.

watch out for the Mules this year. They have all their starters back from the championships team last year and their best freshman class ever!
they will have an inside and outside mix and look to run the ball everytime up the floor
as Larry Bird said - which one of you is going to be able to finish second??!
John Hopkins will be representing the Centennial Conference at an ECAC Holiday Festival in Orlando FL

The mules have a very tough team--skilled and deep.
F&M gave them a good half, but got overwhelmed at the start of the second half.
I've only seen the women mules three times, but does the coach always whine about every call that goes against him. Also, is his middle name Ron?

This message it to all the voter's on the D3Hoops top 25 poll: It is about time you recognized Moravian by putting them in the top 25 in the last poll. When you vote this week, please remember that they did beat DeSales (why are they still ahead of the Hounds?) and of their 9 wins 6 of them came against teams that were in the NCAA tournament last year. Happy Voting!
finalfour: are you Amy Endler? IMHO: If so, then going around this website and trying to get love for your team (Moravian) is not a good look for an assistant coach. Rankings shouldn't matter anyway at this point in the season (before most conference play). If anything, they would just put a target on your back going into the heart of the season. Moravian should use the lack of recognition as motivation.
Join Our Live Chat Wednesday Night!
The Centennial Conference Office will hold a live chat on Wednesday night beginning at 6 p.m. as the evening's early basketball games tip off. Follow this link to the Centennial Conference blog (http://centennialconference.blogspot.com) ... click on CoverItLive ... and join the fun! We'll keep an eye on all five women's and five men's games throughout the night and take your questions on the season to date, what lies ahead for the 11 teams and much more. Hope you'll join us .. before, during or after the game!
I do not know why you bring up a non-Centennial team on this site.
Yes they are in the Centennial for football, but unless they are playing a Centennial team in basketball we posters, other then the D3 powers do not vote for top 25.

Watched the Gburg-Muh game Sat on MuleTV to check out Alex Chili; was even more impressed with her passing than her shooting. She got many passes into her teammates where they were in position to do something positive. Once they get a step on defenders off a screen or cut, she's going to get them the ball for a layup. And, for a shooter, she didn't force any shots.
Was impressed with the quality of the videocast, also.
Congrats to Jessica Jamrogowicz, Washington. Conference player of the week.

Mondays matchup between Muhlenberg and DeSales should be a good one
Muhlenberg needs to win to show they can play against teams outside the Conference. They lost to Moravian(LAND), Alvernia(MACF), and Marymount(CAC). With DeSales being another MAC team they really need to step it up to get a win within the region.

Good morning Old Ends. You can be very happy about the Lady Mules victory last night. It's always great to win out of conference, particularly when it is two great teams fighting it out. i would like DeSale's to win out now (with the exception of their Senior night when they play the Aggies ;)), but it'd be wonderful to see a lot of tough competition going into the play-offs!
It was a much need win as Muhlenberg beat DeSales 77 to 68
Yes Kate it was a good strong showing outside the conference.

The "Final Four." Just four teams remain on both the men's and women's side of the Centennial Conference basketball tournament. The men convene in the heart of Amish Country - Lancaster - for the weekend, while the women gather in Allentown. A Saturday victory puts you in the final with the opportunity to not only win the championship, but also qualify for the NCAA Division III tournament. It's a chance to make history for the McDaniel men and Franklin & Marshall women, who have never won a Centennial tourney game. It's a chance to make history for the Diplomat men, and the women from Hopkins and Muhlenberg. Each program has won a Conference-record four titles. A fifth puts one in rarefied air, as no Centennial team has "one (ring) for the thumb."
We hope you'll join us this weekend at Mayser Center or Memorial Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for student (13-18) and free admission for students from participating teams (upon presentation of ID) and youth 12 and under. If you cannot make the trip, you can watch the game(s) for free on your computer. Sign up for "Twitter" and receive updates at the half and when the game goes final. It should be a great weekend!

Outstanding play by Sheila Cook (Mules) on Saturday against McDaniel. It was almost like Mulhenberg had a secret weapon. Sheila said it was her teammates that preformed well. She just happened to be in the right place at the right time, 13 times that is for 26 points.
Go Mules!!!
The ladies went all out and held nothing back as directed by the coach Ron Rohn on Sunday. Excellent teamwork played by all. Chili (23 pts.) and McKeon (21 pts.) kept the momentum together with a 42% score rate over Johns Hopkins. Way to go Mules!!
Old Ends, i miss your pleasant & dignified posts - certainly hope that you're well and ready to enjoy Muhlenberg's run in the NCAA's!
Congrats to the Mules on their impressive run so far. There's a nice story about the team on the front page right now:

I think the Mules will be the team to beat again this year.
Good morning, Old Ends. If Muhlenberg or Scranton have live stats, there should be a very good early season match-up at the Muhlenberg Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 21. That's assuming that those two teams will beat Alvernia & i can't remember the fourth team at the moment. Anyway, it should be a barn burner, so please keep track of that one. Incidentally, it snowed in Easton, PA on Thursday. My brother in Belvidere, NJ said his ground was covered Friday morning - WAY too early.

Have a safe and happy holiday to all.
In an over-time thriller tonight, McDaniel held on for a 72/71 win ( i believe that was the final score) over Muhlenberg. It was an incredible game to watch - even on live stats.
Here at the home office, we have decided to compile a list of the top basketball moments in the Centennial Conference from the past decade. We are looking at the top games and top players from 2000-2009 and would like to solicit nominations from you. We'll compile the nominations from our fans and SIDs and narrow them down to a top 10. Once we whittle down the field, we'll have an online vote to determine the top moment on both the men's and women's side from the last decade. We'll announce the winner during the week of the Centennial tournament.
Feel free to send us an email at sulrich@centennial.org with your nomination. You can also nominate via our twitter site (www.twitter.com/centennialconf) or give us your thoughts right here on Posting Up.
For starters, here are a few that come to my mind --
1) Swarthmore wins first-ever basketball title in 2001, defeating Johns Hopkins as Ali Furman knocks down seven three-pointers.
2) Swarthmore's Katie Robinson ties a Centennial record with 40 points vs. Johns Hopkins on Feb. 6, 2002.
3) Muhlenberg scores a Conference-record 133 points in a Dec. 8, 2004 win over Haverford.
We hope you can participate and enjoy the debate!
Congrats to Alexandra Chili-Muhlenberg player of the week

Best luck to the Lady Mules this afternoon at Johns Hopkins! Let's keep those NCAA games close to home!
Well, for us it turns out that none of our teams are playing close to home, but good luck to the Lady Mules when they play Williams! Have fun!
WOW, beating Williams by one point - congratulations! GOOD LUCK the rest of the way!
Congratulations to the Lady Mules & Coach Ron Rohn at Muhlenberg, beating Rochester yesterday! On to the Sweet Sixteen!
Amherst will undoubtedly be TOUGH, but the Lady Mules have had nothing but challenge so far in the tourney! GO Muhlenberg!!!
Kate...are you coming north for the games?
Hi sumfun! Unfortunately we have a family function this weekend, and can't attend any of the games, including the contests in Annville at Lebanon Valley. There's supposed to be beautiful weather, however, so we certainly hope that all involved gyms are packed to the gills! Of course, we'll be following ALL games on live stats!
You can also follow the game(s) via audio link
We'll have all 3 from Amherst at this link

Being in Fla you get to see a lot of children playing basketball outdoors. Saw a young lady with a McDaniel shirt and asked if she played for them?
No her uncle lives in Allentown and just sent her this shirt.
So much for a possible great story.. oh well

New to this board and I am not sure I will get any conversation going or not but thought I would try...Question: Should Bryn Mawr be a member of the Centennial Conference, at least as far as basketball is concerned? Should they being playing an independent schedule that would allow them some level of success? How fair is it to the other 10 teams in the league to have to play them twice a year? Just curious...

I've wondered the same over the last couple of years, but I don't know why they joined in the 1st place. Somebody thinks the plusses outweigh the negative competiveness.
I feel some conern for the ladies at Bryn Mawr but you can't ask the rest of the league to feel sorry for them or play "differently" when you face them. Maybe it will take more beatings like the 92-39 loss to F&M or the 78-13 loss to Gettysburg or last nights loss of 115-43 to Muhlenberg to "help" the administration to see the light. Personally if I were them I would be playing an independent schedule...no shame in that!
Hello bballisking! Doesn't it seem as though every season there's one or sometimes two teams who dwell in the bottom of the leagues' stats. Years ago Cedar Crest (CSAC) lost to FDU (MAC Freedom) by a similar score with a huge discrepancy. It's sad and a problem, i think, when those kinds of losses become chronic year after year. I can only reference Del Val football, back in the '90's when they were perennial bottom dwellers in the MAC. A change of coaches fixed that, and now success seems to breed more of the same. I haven't gone into the stats of Bryn Mawr for the last several years, but their coach is only in her third season, i believe. It undoubtedly takes time to turn any athletic program around. I REALLY hate to even mention this, but there is also that "like minded" idea that pops into my mind. A school like Muhlenberg, however, has the mindset that they will excel in sports and academic endeavors. I used to bemoan the fact that we have soooo many D3 schools in such close proximity, and i didn't think there was enough talent to go around. But, a very wise fan (father of a successful D3 coach) said to me "there's a lot of talent out there". He's right, it just has to found and cultivated.
Just a sort of PS to the above post, you are right, there is certainly nothing wrong with playing in an independent league, but the travel may be longer, and they would go from stiff competition to possibly no competition. It depends on what the athletic department would like to accomplish for their athletes.
Thanks kate! I have enjoyed reading some of your posts and you seem to always be a thoughtful and knowledgable basketball fan. Now if we could just stir up some more conversation on this site...
After starting 0-2, F&M won their sixth straight by beating Randolph Macon at the Puerto Rico classic. Barbush scored 26 to lead F&M's attack, and Pauley pulled down 18 rebounds. F&M plays Scranton tomorrow.
F&M beat Scranton in Puerto Rico today to move to 7-2.
F&M stunned number 8 Leb. Val. with a 7 point upset. After losing their first two games, the lady Dips have run off 8 straight wins.

The Valley ladies may well have been stunned, but I'm not certain that was an upset.
After a disappointing game with Washington earlier in the week and a slow start with Swarthmore, F&M dominated the second half against Swarthmore scoring 53 points.
Despite a valiant effort from F&M, Muhlenberg had way too much depth for them.
Bauer played great defense on Chili, but other players picked up their scoring.
Reserved Seat...not sure how much you've seen Chili play but she actually played one of her best all around games last night. Yes, the F&M defense "held" her to 14 points, 4 below her average, but she created numerous scoring opportunities for her teammates by her passing, rebounding, and her defensive play. I would hope the league appreciates what a special player she is...not just a scorer.
I do agree the Muhlenberg's depth got the best of the Dips last night who indeed did play a very good game.

I think that's what makes Muhlenberg so tough... both Chili and Zabrecky are great scorers but both also are willing to mix it up, rebound, defend, hit the open man whatever it takes. Having two such players on a D3 team is rare.
No team can look past any opponent BUT if Muhlenberg can take care of business vs. Gettysburg on Saturday and Hopkins can continue their winning ways at Haverford (a revenge game) then that sets up a great Monday night in Allentown with the Blue Jays visiting the Mules with first place in the conference on the line. Should be a great night to watch two outstanding teams.
10-2 Hopkins vs 9-3 F&M at Lancaster tonight. Looking forward to an exciting game.
What's going on with the Mules?
Another loss for Muhlenberg, a big win for F&M.
Looks like Hopkins is in the driver's seat.(too bad their gym so small for the play-offs)
If Hopkins and F&M both win today, it sets up a game for first place on Wednesday in Baltimore.
QuoteLooks like Hopkins is in the driver's seat.(too bad their gym so small for the play-offs)
It is pretty small, but big enough to host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. The men hosted a couple years ago when they won the Centennial.

Highly unlikely F&M can get the #1 seed. Even with a win over Hopkins, the best they will do is tie the Jays, since Hopkins' other remaining game is against Bryn Mawr - who hasn't won a game in two years.
If F&M beats Hopkins, they will have split the season series. Because Hopkins swept Muhlenberg and Ursinus and F&M split with both of them, Hopkins will own the tie-breaker regardless of who finishes in third place ... unless Haverford somehow ends up with the three seed and I'm not even sure that's possible.
F&M's Barbush earned POY for the Centennial Conference.
I wonder how close the voting was. There were several worthy choices.
Barbush's hustle certainly helped her to win.
Go Dips!
Super good luck to the Lady Mules this afternoon in their game with Johns Hopkins!
Congratulations to Alex Chili of Muhlenberg, a finalist for the Josten's Trophy, as well as her classmate Spencer Liddic, also receiving the same honor. How were these two individuals not voted as POY in the conference, not just this year, but any year in their 4 year careers? Just asking...
Also good luck to the Muhlenberg women's team as they enter the NCAA tournament for the 5th year in a row.
Good luck to Johns Hopkins as well. Hope both teams do the conference proud.
Congratulations to the Mules for the first round win!

Viewers can watch the live event by clicking http://www.centennial.org/sports/wbkb/2012-13/videos/tipoff13. The link will go live at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
Have a question for your favorite coach? Post them to our Facebook page or Tweet them to us using the hashtag #CCTipOff13. Then watch the stream to see if your question is selected! We hope you'll join us for the start of the women's basketball season on Tuesday.
Schedule:
1:00 - Bryn Mawr
1:10 - Dickinson
1:20 - Swarthmore
1:35 - McDaniel
1:45 - Gettysburg
1:55 - Washington College
2:10 - Ursinus
2:20 - Haverford
2:30 - Franklin & Marshall
2:45 - Johns Hopkins
2:55 - Muhlenberg
No input on the ladies. F&M appears to have a roster similar to last year--a lot of quick guards but a team short of height. The ladies should have enough height to deal with average teams, but will have trouble with any players with height and a little bulk. The forwards will have to be aggressive.
Not much activity on this board! Disappointing but I will ask anyway...Who is the preseason favorite? Asking before the preseason rankings come out tomorrow...
Also: How have teams faired in their scrimmages? Why does the Centennial Conference only allow its teams one scrimmage when everyone else gets two?
F&M played well against Alvernia.
Just a reminder to join us beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday for the inaugural Centennial Conference Women's Basketball "Tip-Off." Using Google+, we will have live video chats with each of the 11 head coaches in the Conference. We will also take your questions for the coaches, using Facebook or Twitter. Please submit your Facebook questions prior to 1 p.m., while use the hashtag #CCTipOff13 to submit questions via Twitter. We hope you'll join us. http://www.centennial.org/sports/wbkb/2012-13/releases/TipOff13 (http://www.centennial.org/sports/wbkb/2012-13/releases/TipOff13)
Tough loss for F&M, after being down by 10 or more most of the game. The ladies put up a tremendous rush to even the score at the end of regulation, only to lose by one in overtime. Liz Snyder put together a career high of 32. Emma Lisle also had a career night.
Another tough loss for F&M as they gave LVC(#13) all they could handle before losing in double overtime.
Another tough game for F&M, their 5th overtime loss. Does anyone know what the record is for overtime losses?
Here are the official playoff scenarios for the final day of the regular season:
The top seed comes down to Gettysburg and Swarthmore. A win by one, combined with a loss by the other, simplifies the process. Wins or losses by both brings tie-breaking criteria into play. The two teams split their season series, so a tie for first place would be decided by how the pair did against the third-place team.
A Muhlenberg win gives the Mules the #3 seed and would give the Garnet the tie-breaker advantage over the Bullets. Swarthmore was 2-0 against 'Berg, while Gettysburg was 1-1.
A Muhlenberg loss puts Johns Hopkins at #3 and gives the Jays the first-round bye. In this scenario, Gettysburg is the top seed due to a 1-1 record vs. Hop, while Swarthmore was 0-2.
Haverford is locked in at the No. 5 spot and will be on the road to play either at Johns Hopkins or Muhlenberg on Feb. 20.
Neither Gettysburg nor Swarthmore has ever hosted the Centennial final four since the Conference adopted the format in 2004. The Garnet did host a CC final in 2001 and a first-round game in 2005 - the last time Swarthmore qualified for the tournament. The Bullets return to the field for the first time since 2011 and could host for the first time since a 2008 first-round contest.

This schedule isn't complete. Dickinson has only 14 games, Gettysburg has 14, Swarthmore has 15 ... I sent an email to the conference office last week asking when the rest of the schedule would be loaded into Presto because it affects how much setup Gordon, Dave and I have to do for the 2013-14 season and have not heard back yet.
Looks complete now

Per twitter: Bryn Mawr not competing in Centennial Conference this season: https://twitter.com/d3hoopsville/status/397820297933381632 & https://twitter.com/d3hoopsville/status/397820692718026753
Really makes you wonder what's happening - kind of tricky for the other league schools to fill out their schedules at this point. Must be something substantial. I feel badly for their team.
I am hearing something to the effect of "best for the student-athletes" ... but I don't know what that really means. I also heard they have ten players, but that is just the grumblings I am hearing around. I do know many are calling this a mess, but that is from outside points of view from those affected.
Very nice to see that Widener 2010 grad, Becky Tyler has been named interim Coach at Bryn Mawr! Good luck, Coach Tyler!
Aren't the last few posts contradictory. No team, interim coach?
Fairly certain they have team, just an abbreviated schedule. I'm thrilled that they have a young & enthusiastic head coach who will stabilize the program. As in most things, D3 Women's b'ball is only as strong as it's weakest link - No, repeat No weak links for D3!

Don't think so; seems like there's a team, apparently they're just not competing with a full conference schedule or as a conference member.
There is a team... they are only playing 14 games at this point... which may not even make them a "team" officially by the NCAA definition since a team has to play a minimum of 18 games - how that will affect the rest of the Centennial who not only has lost a game on their season, but may lose a second game because the opponent doesn't count... is to be determined.
This all went down so close to the start of the season. Hopefully the League will work out something so the other ten teams don't have to be adversely affected. Who knows, since only 18 games are needed, Coach Tyler might be able to get four more games.
Can't see any reason the games wouldn't count for their opponents. NCAA teams have played non-NCAA teams with fewer than 18 ... I guess you could argue that their games wouldn't count as Division III games.
And that is the crux of it... if they don't count as Division III games, they don't count towards regional games, SOS, etc., etc., etc.
I am waiting to hear back on the issue... but no one has responded to questions as of yet.
Does anyone follow CC women's teams?

Does anyone follow CC women's teams?
I do.
Hopkins looks like the most complete team right now, while Haverford looks like the best defensive team in the league. The rest of the conference is a crapshoot right now. But, its still early.

Watched the F&M/Alvernia scrimmage. F&M had no to counter Alvernia's center. The first quarter was tied, but after that F&M struggled until putting on a flurry at the end of the 4th quarter.
F&M is still very inexperienced and lost an experienced player to a season ending injury.

I did not see any listings for that game. Was that on F & M web site or just in the local news?
In looking at the Conference web page, caught a look at the following list.

We are back to our normal Sunday and Thursday Hoopsville (http://www.d3hoopsville.com) shows tonight! Now that we are getting back into our routine, we get back into the habit of featuring the East, Mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes, and West Regions on Thursday night shows (Northeast, Atlantic, Central, and South Regions on Sunday nights). Tonight, Dave McHugh talks with coaches who are succeeding so far this season thanks to a bit of a youth movement. How those squads are either exceeding early expectations or reloading pretty nicely. Dave also gets an assist from Pat Coleman to help cover the much anticipated men's basketball game between No. 1 Augustana at No. 5 Elmhurst which needed overtime to be decided. And Dave talks about the latest Hoopsville partner - the WBCA. With the WBCA coming onboard with the NABC there needed to be some branding changes. You will hear the change almost immediately.

The Division III season has officially entered "Crunch Time." Regular season schedules are wrapping up, conference tournaments are about to begin, teams are jockeying for conference position or trying to win home-court advantage. And it is all happening the uncertainty of whether NCAA tournament berths are available for a lot of teams.
On Thursday night's Hoopsville (http://www.d3hoopsville.com), Dave McHugh not only takes another look at this week's Regional Rankings, but also tries to read the tea leaves. He also chats with four teams that all still have something to play for. Whether it is to better position themselves in the eyes of the NCAA committees or just to turn more heads in their conference tournament, these teams are still pushing to continue their seasons.
Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio starting at 7:00 PM ET LIVE. You can watch the show on the official show page here: http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville/archives/2016-17/feb16 ... or you can watch the live simulcast on Facebook Live (http://www.facebook.com/Hoopsville). Hello all fellow Hoop Fanatics! I usually try to keep up with the centennial as much as possible through the board when I cannot attend games throughout the year due to different circumstances that seem to always pop up. It does seem as if the mens side of the cent has been getting some substantial gossip with all the vacancies in head coaching positions and deservedly so.
I am much more intrigued though on the women's side of the cent! Does anybody have any idea who Hopkins is going to replace now with the absence of Nancy Funk?!?!?! Funk was a great coach but more importantly a great mentor for those young women that got the privilege to learn and play under her. In my opinion she was the second best coach in the conference, only second to the Mules Ron Rohn.
The Hopkins job is a job many coaches dream of and could definitely entertain the likes of some big names at other head coaching positions around the country. Personally, I would like to think that Hopkins has an assistant that could step up and do the job given that Funk was such a great mentor and leader but that could be a long shot with the potential applicants. Whomever they do choose, best of luck to them and hopefully they can have the same positive impact on the young ladies the way Funk did.
Quick shoutout to Emily Gibbons on the POY award. Great season and great career. Such a shame to see her get her hurt in the conference championship as I'm sure my bullets could have prevailed over those stinkin Mules :( Always next year though... GO BULLETS!
Corporal Hicks predicts that the coaches in the Cent will finally get over themselves and will finally give Brandi Vallely the MVP and credit she has deserved for the past 2 seasons.
The Lady Mules will win another championship adding to the legacies of Ron Rohn, Brandi Vallely, and Rachel Plotke.
Corp. Out.

I talked with Ron Rohn within the week; both Brandi and Rachel have been hindered by injuries that have limited them from even better play than they've produced so far.
The Division III basketball season has begun and tonight Hoopsville (http://www.d3hoopsville.com) will hit the air for its 15th season!
In tonight's season premiere, Dave McHugh chats with the two preseason No. 1 teams, both national committee chairs, and gets an update on a new tournament featuring several Top 25 teams. Dave will also try and get everyone up to speed on the new season and take a look at what has already happened in early season games.
One thing fans may notice is no video for this season's debut. This is not a change in the production of the show, just a temporary decision. There has been a lot going on leading up to the premiere and not everything got up to speed in time. We hope to have actual video broadcasts return in short order. We appreciate everyone's patience.

There is always a large gathering of friends and family around a large table with plenty of food that helps ring in the new basketball season. Many call it Thanksgiving, we tend to call it the second weekend of the Division III season.
And one again the early weeks of the season have not disappointed... nor been lacking surprises.
Preseason Top 25 teams have lost as often as turkeys have been overcooked this holiday week. Teams who have had surprise starts have followed up with continued surprises or more head-scratching results. However, no matter the games and no matter the wins and losses, we are thankful to have the season here and be able to talk about it.
On Sunday's Hoopsville (http://www.d3hoopsville.com), Dave tries to gobble up the leftovers and figure out who was granted their wish after the snap of the wishbone. At the same time, we take the time to recognize a milestone at D3hoops.com: 20 years of being ... D3hoops.com - the home of Division III men's and women's basketball.
Dave also chats with a new dynamic duo in Baltimore. Hope Josh Loeffler and Catherine Bixby are settling into jobs that have seen the same coaches (Bill Nelson and Nancy Funk) in over thirty years.

We've entered the part of the season when teams are either off the court for an extended period of time or they are still practicing and playing occasional games leading up to a break around Christmas. It is an odd time of the season. You look away one night and forget there is a big game happening. You try and focus in another night only to realize there isn't much to watch (if anything).
Some schools are still wrapping up finals as well!
These few weeks can also be challenging to teams. Staying fresh even though there could be up to a month between games. Staying focused, even though academics are a much higher priority that what's happening on the court. And staying healthy despite travel to different parts of the country or back home to be with family.
Thursday night on Hoopsville (http://www.d3hoopsville.com), Dave tries to work his way through the distractions to talk to a few teams all of which still have games this December and seem to be off to pretty good starts. We'll even hear from a student-athlete's perspective. How are finals, the holidays, and travel affecting these programs?
Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Thursday's episode will air live starting at 7:00 pm ET right here: http://bit.ly/2rA87rl (and via Facebook Live simulcast).

It is now or never.
The last week of the Division III basketball regular season is here. Conferences will decide who will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Tournaments and teams try and position themselves for at-large bids, hosting opportunities, and bracketing considerations.
For teams who have been faltering, this is the last chance to right the ship. For programs which have underachieved, this is the last opportunity to live up to expectations. And of course for those with Cinderella dreams, this is the chance to try on the glass slipper.
Sunday's Hoopsville (http://www.d3hoopsville.com) will cover it all in a special, extended, episode which for the first time (outside of Marathon programming) will feature a guest from each of the eight regions. We will also discuss which teams may be on the bubble, who has most likely secured at-large bid, and which teams need to win the AQs. Plus, we talk about how regions as we know it now could very well change in the future.
Hoopsville (http://www.d3hoopsville.com) is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. Sunday's show will hit the air at 6:00 p.m. ET. It can be watched live right here: http://bit.ly/2EeG5ZE (and simulcast on Facebook Live and Periscope).

The new NCAA Division III women's basketball regional rankings are posted: https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2019/02/women-regional-rankings-third
Called the Gettysburg at McDaniel game tonight. Gettysburg is a solid unit. I like several of the players on the team. I will be interested to see how things progress. They have size, not surprisingly, but tempo can be challenging. But I would be shocked if they aren't battling for the top spot this season.
McDaniel is going to surprise people. New coach and a whole new system. They are deeper with at least two freshmen already playing key roles. This isn't the Green Terror unit of the last few years.

I have seen 3 of the players in AAU((Makenzie Tinner-15 pts & Olivia Matto for Gburg) and Natalie Mehl(10 pts) for McDaniel). That Matto doesn't start means the players ahead of her must be pretty good.
I could see reason for Matto to start, but she seems pretty good coming off the bench. She was 1-4 in 14 minutes. I think she struggled a bit with the aggressive defense McDaniel was playing. A number of Bullets struggled with a team that is playing differently than they have seen the last few years.
Tinner is good and has gotten better, but she also struggled against Conroy (McDaniel freshman) at times. Tinner was best when a screen opened her up and she could get a quick turn to the basket once the ball got to her. She also was a bit more successful when Conroy was out of the game. Tinner got in foul trouble as well which didn't help. Tinner had 15 points on 6-8 shooting. She was at least smart to realize that if she didn't have the ability to attack the basket, she wasn't going to force it. But she also only had five rebounds - 2 on the offensive end.
Mehl is a solid player. Her first game out of the gates for McDaniel she led all scorers and was hot from beyond the arc. Last night she had her moments where she was hitting, missing, and forcing. She will find her place, but she is a great additional weapon outside and even mid-range for McDaniel to take pressure of Mondoro and others.
I am actually impressed that McDaniel got the likes of Mehl and Conroy after a few years of rough recruiting (good talent, but seemed to be missing better talent). Conroy gives them more size inside and takes the pressure of Storer who can transition to more of a 3 or 4. Conroy is also a very good shot blocker which she showed off against Gettysburg. And she can hit the occasional deep ball. Both are good passers as well and seem to see the court well.
When McDaniel was on and playing their offense well last night, they were tough to stop. When they hit the skids for eight minutes between the third and fourth quarters, they got out of their system and struggled. You could see the pressure of hitting a basket getting to them and they stopped doing what was working so well - especially ball movement. The ball got stuck in player's hands and they started trying to do things on their own in desperation. They had the same trouble to start the game, but worked out of it by getting to the free throw line and eventually starting hitting shots which they gained confidence out of - which also fed the defense. Gettysburg did a good job in the second half of eventually frustrating McDaniel into that lengthy no-field goals period. It came after McDaniel got it's biggest lead of the game which speaks volumes to Gettysburg figuring it out - and the coaching staff finding the combo. Most of that run to take the lead while McDaniel struggled was without any of the starters on the floor for the Bullets.
I forgot that I also saw Gburg's Tori Yantsos many times(I was interested in 2 of her AAU teammates). She'll be an above-average player in the Centennial.
She's good. She got in foul trouble last night early again because of the up-tempo defense and a player control foul (I believe) that was easily avoidable (aren't they all? LOL). But Word and Ravenscroft also got in foul trouble early for similar reasons. Word has a habit of no longer moving her feet and trying to reach in especially in the paint on help defense. That was two or three of her fouls and nearly another few could have been called. Word actually picked up her third early in the second quarter and came back in with 4:30 left in the first half - did a decent job on defense while staying away from a four foul.
Anyway, Yantsos is good. Maybe a second teamer in the conference, though.

be interesting to see if Haverford goes ahead of Gettysburg in next regional rankings. Haverford wins regular season conference title should move them ahead of Gettysburg.
Winning the regular season title isn't part of the criteria.
WL%
SOS
H2H (they split)
Common opponents
vRRO
That is the primary criteria that will be looked at.
Haverford isn't even ranked right now ... here is how they looked through Sunday:
| WL% | SOS | vRRO |
Haverford | 20-3 (.870) | .510 | 1-3 |
Gettysburg | 20-3 (.870) | .532 | 1-1 |
Gettysburg is getting the nod in SOS, probably not losing as many vRRO (odd maybe), but I also have to check those ... though, playing and losing to Messiah isn't hurting the Bullets too much. Might help a little. The H2H may be a wash.
Now ... Gettysburg is going to get hurt by losing to Dickinson. There is a chance Haverford enters the rankings and Gburg even exits. But it is because Gettysburg found the worst time in the world to have an illness go ruff-shot through the team (from what I've heard). Not because Haverford won the regular season crown.
thank you so much for primary criteria!
i do wonder how committee factors common opponents for same conference teams: Hav = 18-1 (.947) while Getty = 16-3 (.842)
for entire region, common opponents are much smaller sample but when one conference team is reg season champ (not by coin flip!), that should factor into committee rankings
imo Dickinson loss really hurts Getty's chances at Pool C.

You guys need to really checkout D3hoops.com. It would help you a TON. We have a LOT of resources including full explanations of the primary and secondary criteria. Even other FAQs are answered.
And there is this show, Hoopsville, which covers a lot of this stuff especially this time of year. Even if you can't watch it live, you can watch or listen to the archives. It really would be worth your time (www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville).
I think I have this right ... worked on it today, because I am broadcasting a game with a playoff hopefull.
The fight for the fifth and final spot in the playoffs is in a three-way tie right now between F&M, Muhlenberg, and Swarthmore.
F&M vs. Ursinus
Muhlenberg at Gettysburg
Swarthmore at McDaniel
Head-to-head, all three teams went 1-1, so you have to go to the rest of the conference starting at the top and working your way down.
- If
ALL three teams win, then
Muhlenberg gets the tiebreaker because they will have
defeated Gettysburg (on Saturday) and the
only team of the three to beat the Bullets.
- If
ALL three teams lose, then
Muhlenberg gets the tiebreaker because they will have
defeated Dickinson (F&M eliminated due to 0-2 v JHU; Swat then eliminated due to 0-2 v Dickinson)
- If
Swat and F&M win and Muhlenberg losses, then
Swat gets the tiebreaker because they
defeated Johns Hopkins and F&M did not.
- If
F&M and Muhlenberg win and Swat losses, then
Muhlenberg gets the tiebreaker because they would be the
only team to beat Gettysburg- If
Swat and Muhlenberg win and Swat losses, then
Muhlenberg gets the tiebreaker because they would be the
only team to beat GettysburgSo Muhlenberg has the most opportunities to get in.
F&M can only get in if they are the lone team in the fifth slot, they lose all tiebreakers to the other two.
Swarthmore can only get in if Muhlenberg losses to Gettysburg.
Feel free to check my work ... I can't say I know for sure I'm accurate.
Here is the wording for the fifth-place spot:
C. Tie-Breaker Format2. Ties for the final playoff seed will be determined by applying the following criteria in the order listed:
- head-to-head Conference competition among the tied teams;
- team with the best record vs. teams in descending order of standing (1st place, 2nd, etc.). It should be noted that if 1 (c) above had to be used to break a tie between teams, those teams will be considered as tied for purposes of applying this tie-breaker;
- once the above criteria have been used to reduce the number of tied teams, they will be used again on the teams that remain tied;
- if the application of 2(a), 2(b) and 2(c) does not determine the final seed for the playoffs, a tie-breaker game will be played. The host for the game will be determined through a coin flip by the Executive Director. It should be noted that, under the provisions of criteria 2, a tie-breaker game would only be played if the teams had split their head-to-head games, and the tied teams' records were identical against every other team in the Conference. The rationale of 2(d) is that a tiebreaker game should be held if, and only if, the only other possible way to determine the final playoff team was a coin flip.
Regardless of how many chances there may be to back into the playoffs for the Mules, there is no way I see them winning at G-burg tomorrow.

Gettysburg has been dealing with an illness in the team that as of just over a week ago had half the squad affected. I'm pretty sure whatever it was still had them off their game against Dickinson. While on paper I agree, that illness cost G'burg the regular season title (or at the very least a share of it) ... I'm not betting on anything until the game is over.
Question does Nate Davis vote on the MA region?

Question does Nate Davis vote on the MA region?
He is on the Mid-Atlantic committee, yes. He is the chair of the Mid-Atlantic. Thus, he guides the committee, but he is NOT allowed to vote on the Mid-Atlantic RAC nor discuss his team. However, he then represents the Mid-Atlantic and has a say on the national committee. However, if it has to do with his team, he must remove himself from the call.
You like to try and pretend there are conspiracies, but I know the liaisons well. They don't allow for those who have direct interest (i.e. coaches of teams being discussed) to be involved
especially on the women's liaison who takes it to an extreme. The women's national committee has had to bracket with just two committee members because the other six were coaching teams in the tournament. I don't completely agree with that extreme, but I do agree with the idea that if a coach's team is "at the table" for selections or hosting or whatever, they should not participate.
Here is
another topic we talk about often on the multi-regional boards and on Hoopsville especially this time of year. Take some time and tune in. We don't do it just for giggles.
Comparing Haverford to Gettysburg is likely not what the committee is looking at. Haverford lost to Catholic, which is in the bottom spot. There is a little string of head-to-head results in that ranking.

Centennial has called off winter competition and tournaments (along with fall)... but schools have the autonomy to schedule their own games if they want (though, the press release falls WELL short of actually saying that): https://centennial.prestosports.com/sports/general/2020-21/fall-winter_statement
