I've found a few. What are some other school's student section named? ..... and why?
"Blue Crew" Tri-State .... school color
"C Block" Canisius .... school name
"Cameron Crazies" Duke .... play basketball in Cameron Indoor Arena
"Crimson Crazies" Harvard .... school color
"Crimson Crazies" Indiana .... school color
"Dawg Pound" Adrian .... school mascot Bulldog
"Dew Crew" Hope .... sponsor Pepsi, Mountain Dew
"The Izzone" Michigan State .... men's basketball coach Tom Izzo
"Screamin' Demons" Wake Forest .... school masot Demon Decons
"12th Man" Texas A&M .... in 1922 a student was pulled from the stands to play

Against which opponent (now in D-III) was King Gill summoned from the Aggie student section to stand on the sidelines in case he was needed to sub for an injured player?
One Karma point for the first correct answer! :)
Would that be Centre College?
gotta love google. ::)
"Carlson Crazies" ... North Park. The weird thing about NPU's student section nickname is that it isn't named after the gym. NPU's gym, informally known as "the crackerbox", has no official name other than "North Park University Gym". The classroom building to which it is attached, however, is called Carlson Tower. Hence, "Carlson Crazies".
"Moore's Maniacs"...for Wooster's longtime head coach Steve Moore.

+1 Knightstalker!
And remember to take your celebratory lap around the "Best Attendance" room for your 5000th post! :)
Quandt Qwazies- UW-Stevens Point...named after the home gym. It's fun to say although it sounds like a Daffy Duck impression.
I thought Hope's student section had a different name, that I have seen mentioned before, although I can not cite my source at this time.
Brandeis University student section used to be named Louis Lunatics (named for Louis Brandeis the schools name sake)
HOWEVER
they are now referred to simply as "The Jury"
Also I do not know if this is their student section, but I know Emory has an incentive program known as the "E-Team" (name seems self explanatory)
again not sure if it is the official student section name, but I know Wash U does that whole Red Alert thing (school color)
The Dew Crew at Hope.
Is Pepsi that integral a sponsor at Hope that they would name their section after a product?
You would think it would have some play on words with something dutch.

From what I've been told; the "Dew Crew" program is part of Hope's Pepsi contract. Hope promotes the product through their fans and Pepsi pays for the shirts. Hope sells their students as organic billboards. Capitalism at its finest.
If you've got to sell your soul it may as well be to Mountain Dew.
This year the students are calling themselves the Knight Stalkers, they have T-shirts and green and yellow wigs.

No, but they get free pop out of the deal. I'm not even certain the Mountain Dew logo is on the shirts anymore.

When you get a section of students like that, who cares who sponsors them.

Neil (Hope asst) struck on the idea while watching the University of Illinois "Orange Krush" unit during a basketball game. Neil's wife came up with the idea of "Dew Crew," Neil contacted local bottling company officals and the program was off and running. The Pepsi-Cola Corporation owns Mountain Dew. Students are charged a nominal fee for shirts.
At Wabash, they're known as the Chadwick Crazies, and sometimes they are just that. I don't know if anyone has worn a bathrobe to games since Smitka graduated.
The rest of the MIAA
Adrian---Dawg Pound (not very organiazed, but organized enough to have tshirts)
Alma---empty bleachers
Albion---Kresge Krazies, named after Kresge Gymnasium, their numbers come and go with the success of the team, and have been toned down in recent years. Not sure they technically exist anymore.
Calvin--At one time called the Knight Court, they've always had really good student attendance, just not much organization, rumors that this year they will be known as the Knightmares.
Kalamazoo--Many years ago were known proudly as the Stingers, but have not been organized now for several seasons, also toned down much like Albion
Olivet--not much student attendance beyond friends
Tri-State---they have one, just can't recall the name.
At one time in the 80s the WashU student rooters were called the Bomb Squad.
From my understanding that group still exists in small numbers. I have been told by some of our players that they have a small group that always dress in camo and carry fake bazooka's and other crazy things like that. I assume they are the current version of the bomb squad
This might not have anything to do with student sections, but two years ago Maryville played at Mississippi College in the NCAA Tournament. Six or seven Maryville students showed up wearing crazy outfits. I can't remember them all, but I remember one was dressed up as a penguin and another was a toilet. One of the funniest things I have ever seen.
Mississippi College has the Choctaw Crazies who wear gold t-shirts. Usually not that organized until later in the year when we have the ASC or NCAA Tournament games and a bunch of them come to the games painted up. There's a picture of some of them at the top of our basketball webpage http://www.gochoctaws.com/index.asp?path=mbball (http://www.gochoctaws.com/index.asp?path=mbball)

I have a T-shirt in my closet when we tried to organize a student section with "O-Zone" across the front. I remember having an "O-Zone" contingent of student fans at a few football and basketball games.

I remember that Tshirt from a few years ago too... but the current UWSP student section calls themself the Purple Haze.
Potsdam State has a student section called the "Maxcy Maniacs".
Maxcy was a former instructor/A.D. at Potsdam for whom the athletic complex was named.
Of course, the basketball gymnasium is named after the immortal Jerry Welsh, who coached the Bears to 2 National Titles in Basketball in '81 and '85, and fell just one game short of making it back-to-back in '86. I believe that he still holds the D3 record for consecutive victories - 60 - including a perfect season of 32-0, which is also a D3 record (most wins in a season).

He actually coached them to titles in '81 and '86 -- and the championship game you're thinking of in which he fell short happened in '85 (North Park beat Potsdam State in the national championship game that year). Welsh also led his team to the national championship game and fell short on two other occasions: 1979 (in which his Bears were beaten by, again, North Park) and 1982 (in which his Bears lost to Wabash).

That's disthpicable!!
Any purple school could have the Purple Haze. Only UWSP could have the Quandt Qwazies.
Plattsburgh's baseball team has been sitting together in one section for the past couple of games.
I annoint them the "foul balls" or the "fowl balls" (Plattsburgh's mascot is a Cardinal).
The other group of crazies that paint their chests (and backs), are un-nameable ::)
Bomb squad still exists at Wash. U. and they don't carry bazookas. They do carry a missile with their frat's name on it. Lots of guys dressed in camo and boy do they add spirit to Wash. U. games.
There's also the student organization called Red Alert which passes out free T-shirts and helps with the publicity.
Just caught this topic...
Back when I was at Hardin-Simmons (99-04) we had a group of students known as HSU Posse (after the school mascot Cowboys). We would dress in overalls, white tank tops, and cowboy hats. I don't know they're around anymore.
WLC has a student section called the "Sixth Man" --first time I saw and heard it in person was during the last LMC Tournament Championship game in the 2005-06 hoops season-when WLC knocked off Edgewood at home to get to the NCAA tournament. Whenever a 3-pointer or a dunk takes place, that section goes nuts!
Trinity (TX) has a student section ... they're all at the library or in their dorm rooms hitting the books. I doubt that many of the know or care that TU has a football team ... unless the school organizes their annual "free food on the grass" outside the stadium. THEN a few of them wander into the stadium to see what's the fuss.
::)
Whiwater's student section is known as the Bleacher Creatures.....kind of dumb if you ask me. They have T-Shirts with it on it.

Even I took advantage of the free food when Redlands played there a couple of times.

Dumber still since UW-Madison has used Bleacher Creatures for three decades.

While I can't vouch for that statement (actually I have never heard that) I think the name "Bleacher Creatures" is more associated with the fans who currently occupy section 203 of the right field stands at Yankee Stadium (and before that, at old Yankee Stadium). If you've ever been to a game you know what I mean. The only names I've heard the Badger students referred to are the Grateful Red at the Kohl Center for Badger BB since the arrival of Bo Ryan or Mr. Bennett's Neighborhood during the time of Dick Bennett.
At Camp Randall during football games, UW-Madison students are commonly referred to as "LATE!"
Before the renovation that put suites on the east side of Camp Randall, there were flagpoles behind the student section that held a giant "Bleacher Creatures" banner. A similar banner was in the Fieldhouse/Kohl Center for basketball. They'd often print T-shirts with it too. It's kind of generic so I'm sure UW or any else didn't really invent it either. Maybe that usage has died since the banner is no longer there.
