Several NJAC squads opened up play last night. In a battle of 2 ARV squads, Stockton knocked off Montclair State, 3 sets to 1.

Latest D3 Top 25 poll is due out later today.

#3 Seed Kean vs. #6 Wm. Paterson

Kean:  DeLio:  3rd in Conference in Service Aces/Set
Wm. Paterson:  Sybello - 5.5 assists per match

#4 Rutgers-Camden vs #5 NJCU
NJCU:  1.38 Team Blocks/Match (2nd in NJAC)
R-C:  Nebrich 2nd in NJAC in Service Aces/Set
        Cobb:  .418 hitting pct.

Kean and Rutgers -Camden won the earlier match-ups during the regular season.

Final:  #3 Kean over #6 Wm Paterson in 3.
               (25-18, 25-14, 25-18).

Kean:  .258 hitting pct. for match
          Thornton  .421 hitting pct. Brua  .385, Fawns  .286 respectively.     


Final:  #4 R-C over #5 NJCU in 3.
                (25-23, 25-13, 25-15).
NJCU came from 10 pts down to tie Set 1 at 22 a piece before R-C finished that one off.
R-C:  .264 hitting pct. for match
         Choice  .538 individual hitting pct. (3 other R-C players had .250 or higher hitting pct.)

Semi-Final Match-ups:

Montclair State vs. Kean
Stockton vs. Rutgers-Camden

Again, higher seeds won earlier regular season match-ups.

NJAC Semi-Final Results:

Stockton over Rutgers-Camden in 3 sets.
       (25-7, 25-12, 25-17.)

Stockton:  15 service aces,  .456 team hitting pct. for match.

Montclair State over Kean in 3 sets.
         (25-22, 25-17, 25-12.)

Montclair State:  Higgins  .433 hitting pct.

It'll be a Stockton/Montclair State final.

Stockton won the regular season meeting between the 2 squads.

USMMA/Sarah Lawrence up shortly: (A Merchant Marine win gives that squad a bit more breathing room at the top of the Skyline Conference).

Skyline Conference Final:  USMMA over Sarah Lawrence in 3 sets:
                                            (25-13, 25-16, 25-16)

USMMA:  Outhit Sarah Lawrence .322 to -.032 for match
                  Steffen 12 spikes for points .455 hitting pct.

2nd Final:  Manhattanville stuns St. Vincent in 5 sets
                   (21-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-7, 15-11)

Manhattanville:  Outhit MSV .074 to .000 in Set 5 to get the road win.

3rd Final:  Farmingdale State over St. Joseph's LI in 5 sets:
                     (24-26, 22-25, 25-16, 25-11, 15-12)

Farmingdale State:  Outhit SJ LI .087 to -.059 for the win.

All 3 in-conference leaders win, the Sarah Lawrence loss isn't that costly.

Teams: John Jay and Baruch are 14th and 19th in the nation in Aces/Set (2.95 and 2.82 respectively); Brooklyn and Hunter finished tied in Hitting Pct (.149); Brooklyn also had the lowest Opp Hitting Pct. (.097); Baruch and Brooklyn tied in Digs/Set (16.04);

Players:  John Jay's Taylor Hunt is 19th in the nation in Aces/Set (0.74) and led the CUNYAC with 50 Service Aces. Hunter's Erin Hyman led the conference in Total Digs (368); Brooklyn's Aleah Rafat led in Spike Points/Set (3.33) and Points/Set (3.95).

SUNYAC:

Teams:  Buffalo State led in Aces/Set (2.46); Geneseo in Digs/Set (16.87), Cortland led in all other categories.

Players:  Brockport's Shelby Budnick led in Aces/Set (0.60) and Service Aces (52)  Teammate Meaghan Mastro led in hitting pct.
