Narc, (and Uncle Jessie),

Thanks for the well wishes for Jon (Hoffman). Uncle Jess no need to explain yourself. This has been a tough year for all. Obviously you can understand we are devistated by the career ending injury ie: for things to end this way. Jon looked at me from the hoispital bed as I was visibly upset and said.."We've had a hellva ride haven't we Dad" He is a tough kid and will be there to support his team and coaches from the sideline.....tonite I have to shake myself out of this and take my 40 boys out and play a non district game that was cancelled on Friday. I know that SU and the USASAC was not Southern Cal or Notre Dame ..but it was for me and I could not be any prouder of my son, his teamates, and the SU coaches for all their efforts these past 4 years. All will be fine ....
                                                                 Thanks again, Jim

Jessie ,
I need to get out of this conversation(nothin to do w/ you)....just because we threw 23 times in 3 consecutive games does not mean we spread the field...look at the yards per completion this year...something like almost 18ypc...that gives you an idea...it might be the highest in the conf...and that is not necesarily a good thing. Also I am very happy for Proteus and his record setting nite..he is a good one....different offense...routes...definitely different receivers learning to run routes and go up for the ball. What I was saying before is that in previous games we were predominately throwing on third down and sending a back and Proteus out and keepin everyone in to block...almost never throwing on 1 or 2 down..last nite we opened it up a bit and the numbers were up. If we had held on to the lead and he finished with195 yards 2td's and that 1 pick that ended up being a td for GC you would have said he had a prtetty good nite. I guess my point too was that you seemed to be layin the game on him when we had 3 other crucial things happen that put us in a precarious position (when he was played such a major role in all 4 of our TD's)
Jessie, please also remember that half of his picks are balls thrown up the sideline or fades to backs that are 5'8"" and double covered(although they have made a couple great catches)...it is what he has to go to at times no other receiver open or in a route. When you also are only throwin on 3 down..well??
Anyway, I am done w/ the conversation no disrespect intended and I am a freakin nice guy...but now I am
P i$$ed...not at you just in general. Have a good Sunday.

Jessie,
In case you didn't notice Hoffman threw for 195 yards and 2 tds...the first td scrambling out of trouble...through 4 GC tackers and hitting Hering with a strike on the run ...the second a perfectly thrown ball in triple coverage to Hering for the td...AND The 1st TD was set up by a 25 yard pass to the TE at the 1yard line...not to mention the 30 yard run that Hoffman made to set up the other FREAKIN TD. Lets see that is [all 4 tds that he was either "responsible for"(stats term) or set up inside the 5. Oh I also forgot that pass where Proteus almost held on when Hoffman drilled him at the 8 yard line but he took a heavy hit and lost the ball...could that have maybe been the 5th td!!!
This is the first game that SU has spread the field at all this year. Futhermore even attempted to throw over the middle. I will only address the INT at the 25 yard line in which he  should have eaten the ball instead of trying to dump it to Frates as he was being hit...mistake made BIG MISTAKE!
Why don't we blame him for the penalties too that set up the GC td or lets blame him for the muffed punt that set up the other td.
Go ahead he has big shoulders after all he was the only QB to take SU to the playoffs...led SU to 4 come from behind wins...only threw for about 1400 yards last year and what 14 tds and oh I forgot was all conference HM...OPPS forgot some thing else he was SU"s most improved offensive player.
Lastly all year he has been looking at only 2 receivers going out ( one always at 5'8"?)and only throwing on 3rd down up the perimeters of the field. Tonite they finally spread the field and the other INTs came when we were obviously forcing things in an attempt to come back. On one of them it sure looked like the receiver ran the wrong route...the ball was where it was supposed to be!
Maybe you should call the GC coaches and players who made a point to come over to him after the game and tell him what an athlete he is ...I am sure even if he didn't throw any INT's you would have found something because you obviously missed all the reasons we lost tonite which every player on the field is responsible...JUST AS EVERY PLAYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY SCORE!!! EVERY FIRST DOWN ETC ETC EVERY SUCCESS AND DISAPPOINTMENT. I forgot you probably know all this??? have a great nite. PS: by any chance at halftime were you on the Hoffman bandwagon..I remember when REDKITE jumped on that wagon last year ...nice ride wasn't it!!!

Blackhats,
First of all I would like to say that you are one of the most gracious posters that I have seen. Thank you for the well wishes on the SU QB. Hopefully he will be OK. He had a great year last year..stats... several comeback victories...playoffs...post season honors etc...many variables have changed around him...he works hard as does the whole team and coaching staff. No excuses need to get it done the rest of the way. I agree with you. You guys were a dangerous team last year and much better than the record showed. Good luck!

Fivemics and Uncle Jessie and anyone else who cares,
Although I know it looks as if somehow something was screwy with a pass going off a linemans helmet..there is no penalty or dead ball. The actual rule is NO RULE you play on as the refs did in the case of the BC completion. Now if the lineman in anyway made a play or attempt to catch the ball..that is a different story.
Now on to RMC.  :) GO HORNETS!
