When will the IHSA catch up to the real world CIF (california is in its 10th year) and institute a h.s shot clock?  those 30-40 championship game finals have to be brutal.  they might as well be playing w/o a three point line!

Hey I heard Monmouth made the big dance, oh wait...... Nevermind.....

i think Larry will have less of a home adv. than most sectional hosts.  it is extremely easy to shoot in Alex,  small homey feeling confines, makes every shot feel good.  kinda like playing at MC, unfortunately everyone shoots well there.  also alex may be the only gym in wisconsin wher the thermostat actually works.  it isnt the usual wisconsin 40 degrees in Alex so it is easy for the visitors to get loose.  mwc4life was correct in saying one of the rims is real soft, hell even i hit a couple a shots at the Alex.  the biggest non advantage will be the size of the crowd, hate to say it but i think IWU probably faced a lil more of a menacing crowd when they were at Augie than they will face at Alex.  remember the crowd will not be completely Larry U there are 4 teams playing this weekend and that should dissapate the partisan (or non partisan) crowd.  Larry might have been better off playing at the cavernous gym in Depere, wi.  as a visitor it is just easy to get comfortable with the surroundings....

are there any carrol posters that wish to say which team was better LU or IWU?  Maybe i just missed it, but I am amazed that no one has thrown out that first person comparison yet....

Notes on Scottie,
as my first boss in the good ol Midwest I am going to have to back him as a (Soprano's Like) stand up guy.

If you really believe that they wipe the slate clean,i want what you are smoking.Cause its some good stuff.

Facts, please. If you're going to disagree with me, let's see some facts.

Read the 2006 D3 handbook and what it says about how teams are selected for the tournament. Then mosey on over to this site's tournament archives (you can reach it from the site's front page; click on "Playoffs"), and this is what you'll see with regard to the WIAC and CCIW and how many teams they've gotten into the tourney per year this decade:

CCIW:
2000 -- Carthage
2001 -- Elmhurst, Carthage (Elite Eight), Ill. Wesleyan (nat'l 3rd place)
2002 -- Carthage (nat'l 3rd place)
2003 -- Ill. Wesleyan
2004 -- Ill. Wesleyan
2005 -- Ill. Wesleyan

WIAC:
2000 -- UWEC (nat'l 2nd place), UWSP (Elite Eight)
2001 -- UWEC
2002 -- UWO
2003 -- UWO (Elite Eight), UWSP
2004 -- UWSP (nat'l champs)
2005 -- UWSP (nat'l champs)

Yes, they wipe the slate clean. And, yes, you don't know what you're talking about.

greg,

fyi, wheaton was also in the tourney in 05.  that makes 04 and 02, the only years when neither the CCIW or WIAC got multiple teams in.  So 72% of the time this decade one of these two conferences has had multiple teams in the tourney....

on the contrary this I believe is the third (maybe 4th) time this decade the MWC has gotten two teams in.  So i guess we aint doin that bad...

IWU vs. Carroll= Huge for MWC vs. CCIW bragging rights.  The draw may look tough but this could be a blessing in disguise for the MWC.  Especially if CC beats IWU and LU pounds North Central (or St. Thomas after they beat NC).  A good showing could almost delineate a case for three maybe four MWC tourney teams in the future.  Its all about history correct.  That is why #1 LU wasnt even ranked at the beginning of the year.  Cool, well this is the best way to start making some history.  Good Luck to Larry U and the MWC Pio's North.  This could turn out to be great....

Next year's MC team needs a point guard.  Someone who can penetrate and/or Knows that it is his job to get the ball inside rather than settle for 8 thirty footers a night.  Rogers can be a very good player, but he is no point.  I havent seen singleton play but i am going to assume he is more in the shooter mold (MC has never had a shortage of these) than a playmaker.  MC hasnt been a "pump it inside" team in a very long time.  But someone once said if you have a horse (two in this case) you ride it...

im at work, bored and didnt get to see any MWC games last night, and MC made sure i wasnt able to post anything positive of their season i will point out some other factoids from the day after vday.

Earlier i started a ruckus by proclaiming Redlands U. 8-13&4-7(the system west) sucks.  Well last night they beat a top-20 Occidental and they had a guy for 57 while making 13 treys.  it was long a long time coming, but ill shut up...

Moreno Valley H.S. (my hometown school) beat Compton H.S. 62-60 in a wild card playoff game.  Compton had more athletes (evidenced by their seemingly 20 dunks and blocked shots) but MoVal was better coached playing only 6 guys all night (had 18 dressed) and getting a lot of easy baskets.

The three original Moreno Valley H.S's (in 98 there were 4 now there are 8) all got first round victories.  But will all go on the road tomorrow night playing top 5 teams. bittersweet.

Kevin Bradley is a gamer! he does not seem to be your typical 'great' player but boy has he had some huge moments this year.

Congrats to the top 3 MWC teams, and shame on every one else.  the 4th team will back into the playoffs and will/should be quickly disposed of.

Also congrats to CC as it looks as if they have locked up a tourney bid (#3 in region).

OS,
was that a shot at me? what the he(double hockey sticks) did i do to you. between you and jordis rocks i better not ever turn my back in a bar in the midwest again.... jeez!

Sam, a six foot guy who cannot even throw one down in practice (it is much easier than in a game)could be said to be unathletic or to be short some athleticism.  I mean dunking is not as hard or as amazing a feat as it seems to some ppl, thus the reason you only get two points.  Those who are quick pitch muscle deficient love to point this out everytime someone with some hops gets overly excited after throwin one down.
As far a braier goes, i am very sure he can dunk cuz the big guy moves very well!  hell i would call you a liar if you told me he couldnt.  just cuz he hasnt thrown one down in a game doesnt mean he cant.  so no, i am not, nor have i or will i call braier unathletic...

dunking doesnt mean a whole lot, but if you are 6'4 and cant do it, it could be labeled a pathetic show of athleticism.
anyone over 6' should at least be able to get one down in practice...

it hasnt been that long for knox, i believe MC is the only southern school that hasnt been in forever (7or 8 seasons)...

if you are Larry or the "northern pios" you want to play GC first.  First off with all the young players GC may be nervous in their first playoff game, rather than exuberant and very confident after a first round upset win.
Second, with the way that they shoot, if you gave them an opportunity to "warm up" (first game), they might be on fire in the second game and nobody wants to play a confident hot shooting system team.
third, the tourney is played on back 2 back days.  if u had to play the system the day after (it will be less than 24 hrs.) a very tough (seemingly) first round game you might not have the legs to keep up whether u are playing at home or not.

so there it is, 3 reasons you want to play the system on friday rather than saturday.

How does the MWC not have that posted somewhere on their website?  Maybe they do need an independant commissioner to make sure things run decently.  For a conference with this quality of basketball being played, they sure act quite bush league.

i believe the commish does an excellent job in updating scores and news on the MWC webpage.  If your only complaint is what the tiebreaker is for conference play (kind of ambiguous i think) you should still be able to sleep well at night.  Besides, he is a fellow Scot...So Lay Off!!!
