d3db:
I don't all that much about the teams that Holy Cross had during the Lochbaum/Wiley years.  The only reason I know about Gordie is because Jeff Wiley, his quarterback, was a graduate from my high school.  I was in 4th grade when he took Celina to the state title game against Brooksville Bees.  I believe Tom Tupa was Brooksville's quarterback if I am not mistaken.  My dad coached that State team for Celina, so we followed Jeff's career as much as we could.

I read the posts on here as much as I can, don't usually say to much, but when I noticed your post I was very suprised that anybody would remember Gordie Lochbaum.  And yes, he was one heck of a player, and did play both db and wr.  I got to watch him live one game, although I was very young at the time.

Radierpa:  Holy Cross is Division I.
Although he was not on the cover, Capital University had a player in SI about thee years ago for his accomplishments in high school.  Funny thing is, he never played through his years and stop playing for Capital.  SI Jinx I guess.

...  And who was the quarterback throwing to Gordie Lochbaum?
Jeff Wiley.  Celina, Ohio.

Sidekick,

When teams don't play based on their season stats is when upsets happen.

You never know, one turn over by Mount, and Capital has the ability to hang 14 or 21 in the first quarter.

I do know this, during that Northern game, they must have been inside the redzone four times and came away with two field goals, one interception, and a turn over on downs.
Turn those into touchdowns, and that game isn't even close.

I know what the stats say, but this offense can break a big play at any point with Rocky.. .. and maybe this is the game they do just that three or four times..  You just never know.

Alright T-dubs, aside from DIII football right now.. let me say this.

The Bungles did give the Colts a good game, Offensively.  No matter how long that game went on, you wouldn't have been able to stop them..  Oh, wait, the Colts just scored again.  (I would love to see that game played in the dome at Indy).

You have beat nobody.  What good teams have you beat that you speak of?  Green Bay?  Minnesota? Texans? Ravens? Titans? Browns?  Come'on!  Your three L's come from the only teams with a winning record on your schedule.

I like Cincy.  I think they are good team.  But do they have my respect?  Absolutely not.   Go beat somebody good, and I'll give you the respect you deserve.  But as of right now, they can't beat Pittsburg, or anybody with a winning record for that matter.

As previously stated, you just don't get respect, you EARN it.  Tom Jackson, Steve Young, Boomer Easison etc can say whatever they want, I won't give them the respect you seem to think they deserve until the show me they have earned it.  Go beat Pitt at Pitt with a healthy Rothisberger, and my hats off to you.  Lose, and it just proves my point further.

And I don't like the Stink'n Browns.

E-Lee,

As a Cap fan, there is no doubt I think they can win this game!  (Based on Cap's earlier preformance in Alliance, and the Mount/ONU game).

And I hope they can prove me right!

The one thing I do think Capital has going for them is confidence, which I think most teams during past years may not have had.  Knowing Capital played them into the fourth quarter, and knowing they have been beat, AT HOME, should be a great advantage for Cap.

Had Capital got blasted earlier this year, and had Mount went undefeated up to this point, I think it would be harder to motivate the kids.  Yet, since this is not the case, having that confidence is a big key.

Knowing you can play with them, and knowing they are not the "Al-Mighty" that can't be beat at home, one would think that the Capital Crusdaders will be metally ready.  Now, let's just hope they bring the physical part and dominate the LOS, because as well all know, that is how you beat Mount.

Tdubs,
Cap still has to do something eye-popping before anybody gives them a chance.  Yes, they did beat ONU/JCU, but they did lose to their rival.

To get respect, you must earn it.  I think everybody expected Cap to be in this position.  Everybody on this board would have bashed Capital had they lost their first or second playoff game.

If they want respect, then they have to go to Alliance and get it.  Plain and simple.

It's kinda like your Who-Dey.  They want respect?  Then go get it at Pittsburg this weekend.  Don't keep losing to good teams, and beating weaker 'cause you always be considered average.

Capital is a good team, beat the team that handed Mount their first loss since WWII, and did it on the road!  Great win! However, you want eye-popping, and people to give you a credit, go beat the top dawg at their place in the playoffs.

Hey Moe, did Pentello steal your girlfriend?  What gives on such the dislike?

Purple: 2000 Offense the best?  Didn't Borchet pass for 70 touchdowns and 1 INT his senior year in '97?

That '97 teams was sick!

Skunks,

In my opinion, I think the reason you don't find many "smack" talkers from the Cap side is, as coach Noleburg would say, two fold..  (1) It is an older crowd, and  (2) out of the older crowd, most of them on here were the ones who went through the really tough times at Capital.  They were apart of the 1-9, 2-8 teams.

I think that if you are apart of a losing program that brings itself up from the dumps you have a better appreciation for winning.  Yet, if you are apart of teams that year in/out kick everybody's butt, you may have a tendancy to think your skunk doesn't stink.

Tdubs,

Yes I will be at the game.

E Lee,

Anybody who has a wedding during football season forfeits all rights of having the people show up whom they have invited.

If the person who is getting the ball'n chain deal done on Saturday played football with you, then under no circumstances should he be upset if you miss his wedding.  He should fully understand the situation.  If he doesn't, he isn't a true friend anyway.

If anybody else gives you any grief (his family, friends, etc), then you tell them that he shouldn't have gotten married during football season.

Take myself for example.  I am gett'n married on New Year's Eve.  If somebody doesn' t show up because they are going to a bowl game, then I have no problem with that.  And just for the record, the ONLY reason I agreed to a New Years Wedding is for two reasons:  (1) The bowl games are not the next day.  There are on Monday and we pushed our Honeymoon off until all bowl games are over, and..(2) She agreed that our anniversary every year would be to a different bowl game.

Tdubs,

Comparing KC and Indy is like comparing Capital in '99 to Cap in '05. (KC has always been overrated!!)

You can't stop the run.  E-James has a BIG-BIG day.  Then when you creep up with eight in the box to stop him, James -O'Neal - Ratliff and the boys find out how good Peyton is with his play action passes.

Indy 37 Bengals 20

Tdubs: A couple of informative statements for ya:

1) I am going to the second round playoff game as well, giv'n our boys win this weekend.  Also, I too can't go this weekend to the first round because I will be in the state up North, which brings me to number 2...

2) Michigan wins

3) Colts win, that is more certain than number 2!  You and your boy hawk need to come back from fantacy land and realize your Who-Dey can't compete on Indy's level yet.

Ace: I"ll give you some bulletin board material.  Mount wins big.  Real Big.  Not even close big.  Your team may not score.  Maybe late, when the back-ups are in.  Say what you want..  "They aren't even giv'n us a chance."  Well, that is because you don't have one.  I see the game being close, right before kickoff..    Union 51  Joey 2  ( I love negative Karma)

Toph,
I know you think ONU is just as deserving.  I realize this after arguing about  it for three days.

However, somebody must think Capital is the better team even though they have the same record as Northern ..  I don't know how they could come to such a conclusion (Capital 16 ONU 14), but they did and put Capital in the playoffs.

The selection was made.  I think all OAC fans should be excited and root the OAC.  I know I did no matter what team was selected in years past.
