So Augie is the number 1 seed and Elmhurst is the 2 seed ... Let's say for instance that Carthage wins tomorrow at Millikin, North Central wins tuesday against IWU, and Carthage beats Wheaton on Wed. Since all three teams would then be 8-6, who is in and what would the seeding look like?

NC (2-0) vs. WC
WC (1-1) vs. CC
CC (1-1) vs. NC

After seeing the game tonight I would much rather Augie play Carthage right now than Wheaton or North Central. Although I think North Central shooting above 70% at the Carver Center again would be a fluke. They didn't miss a shot in the second half until about 3 and a half minutes to go in the game.

I could be wrong, but I think Carthage would get in over Wheaton by virtue of their win over Augie. I'm sure someone will point out if that's not right. Greg? Usee?

Would that make North Central the 3 seed then since both split with Augie and NC split with Elmhurst but Carthage is 0-2 vs. them?

Augie wins tonight against a bad Rockford team, 78-44. Augie had a poor shooting night but luckily they were playing Rockford. Key stat of the night though was Alex Washington, who is listed at 6-2 (I strongly disagree he is over 6 ft.), had 8 offensive rebounds and 3 defensive rebounds. Nate Swetalla led Augie in scoring with 15 and had a decent overall game. He appeared to be the floor general tonight wanting to slow things down when the rest of the team wanted to make things more uptempo. Interesting to see Dain dress tonight but get no PT whatsoever. He looked pretty good during pregame showing no signs of a sore ankle. I'm sure it was precautionary though. All in all it was a good win for the Vikes.

With Rose and Dain Swetalla probably out for that game

Augiefan, I think you mean Rorer and not Rose. Rose is perfectly healthy.

My guess is that these numbers are made up... Here is Augie's home attendance this year per Augie Website:

St. Norbert - 403
Beloit - 256
Wash U - 249
Clarke - 257
Coe - 452
Wartburg - 257

Those numbers bolded are all pretty similar and I can say that there was hardly anyone at the Beloit game because it was break for the students.

Augie wins today 92-77 against Wartburg. Highlights from the game...

* Brusveen came alive with his shot
* Collins has some nasty blocks (5 tonight)
* Washington continues to impress me
* There were a million fouls called today...26 in the first half, 18 in the second
* Augie needs to improve their free throw shooting

Wonder why Dain Swetalla only played 5 min? Hopefully he didn't get injured in the game.

Final from Augustana:

Augie 70
Coe 47

Augie looked pretty solid tonight against an undefeated Coe team that received some votes for the poll. Delp had 11, Brusveen had 11, Dain Swetalla had 11, and Wessels had 10. Pretty much a great effort all the way around. Chandler Collins gave Augie some huge minutes off the bench tonight with 4 pts., 9 boards (7 in the first half), and two monstorous blocks. A big surprise tonight though was Nate Swetalla only took one shot and did not score. He needs to be a bigger contributor down the road. I know it's still early on in the non-conference season but I feel Augie is starting to come around as a team that can repeat as Conference Champions.

Just got back from the Augie JV game tonight against a highly touted Highland Community College team. Augie lost by ten but I will have to agree with knarocky22 that Alex Washington can create some scores and is a very smooth player. He seemed to be on a different level than some of the other JV players tonight against a really good Highland team.

Augie won tonight 74-56 against Clarke. Delp had a good game as he had 22 pts on 7-11 shooting from the field. Nate Swetalla had 15 pts and Chandlor Collins chipped in 10. Dain had a much better game in the turnover category. Augie out rebounded Clarke by a 38-24 advantage. This is not a very good Clarke team where I would expect them to finish at the bottom of the CCIW.

I had heard a rumor that Oliver had broken a hand.

dansand,

Oliver is out with a broken pinky finger and not a broken hand. He is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Let's pray for a speedy recovery because his role is pretty significant for Augie this year. It looks like Chandler Collins will be seeing a lot more time now. Hopefully he can step up.

Augie squeaked by with a win tonight against Simpson. It appears that Dain Swetalla tipped in a rebound with 1 second left for the victory. Augie was up as much as 14 points and blew the lead down the stretch. Like I said earlier today there was some shake up in the lineup for Augie tonight. Dan Rukavina started in place of Dain. This appeared to send him the message because he responded with 18 points off the bench in 24 minutes. He is still turning the ball over way too much though, 6 turnovers tonight. Oliver Rorer did not play tonight because he is out with an injury. The Vikings return to action Monday night against Clarke College. Here is the boxscore from the game ....

Great wins for both Carthage and Wheaton last night! I sure hope can get a win at Simpson tonight as there may be some shake-ups in the lineup. I am hoping that Dain can come away with a good game and keep the turnovers down. Will report more later when I find out more details.

Not much to comment on except Oliver Rorer played a half way decent game. His athleticism gets him some easy scores. Probably the worst I have seen Augie play/shoot in a long time. Going 1-15 from behind the arc is not going to win many ball games.

Aurora 85 NCC 69 in Naperville. Aurora outscored NCC 56-36 in the 2nd half. AU beat up on Augie in a preseason scrimmage, so they must be pretty good.

Augiefan, I believe Augie and Aurora split in their scrimmage and the JV scrimmage Aurora won pretty handily. Anyways, a 16 pt. victory over NCC is pretty darn impressive.
