Wow - you must have some really bad memories from Arden Hills.  ;D
More that I just think it's a terrible place to watch a game.

Granted, SJU is a much nicer stadium and given the same weather conditions I too would rather watch a game at SJU. However, given the conditions of last Saturday (rain, cold, wind), I would much rather watch a game ANYWHERE else if it is 60 and sunny out. When it's rainy, cold and windy it is just not very enjoyable to me to endure those conditions.

But I wouldn't call Arden Hills a 'terrible' place to watch a game. Yeah, there could be more seating made available on the visitors side, but about the only time that more seating has been needed the last several years is for the SJU game. I'm assuming that the only time you are at Arden Hills is for the SJU game, then I could see where your point of view may be skewed a bit from a seating stand point but again, I wouldn't classify that in the 'terrible' category.  About the only thing that would make it terrible for me is if there are obstructed views from the stands.

I actually don't mind watching games in arden hills.  It doesn't make you feel like you are in the middle of the metro watching a footabll game like you do while at Auggie Tech and Hamline.  Don't care much for watching the game and traffic traveling on busy roads (ie 94 and Snelling Ave.) at the same time.  Plus, at least Bethel has visitor seating and not a mix and match of fans on one side.

The weather in arden hills for the bethel/cobber games has always been really nice, which usually leads to Bethel running trick plays to win!  ;D

Cobbers get a 56 yd pass and field goal before half to tie score at halftime at 24.  Great momentum going into the break.

Cobbers score to make it 21-17 CC.

It's official Tyus Jones has chosen to play basketball at Duke.  So the big 3 MN high school players have chosen out of state schools.

Rashad Vaughn hasn't committed yet, and won't until spring.  However, he's going to basketball player factory Findlay Prep in Las Vegas, as opposed to a MN school this year, so it is all but a given that he will go elsewhere.  MN is still on his list though.

Edit: One consoling factor, given that Jones and Travis didn't pick MN, and Vaughn is unlikely to, is that none of them went to Wisconsin, as so many of MN's good players have done in recent history.

While I credit Beau Ryan for consistently getting the job done, regardless of his squad's talent level, his brand of basketball is horribly ugly.

Basketball discussion concluded.

Nicely done!

I have no idea what UST pays Caruso but I'm guessing it's comparable to what Chris Mussman makes now (roughly 150K or so). I think Craig Bohl at NDSU makes $300K after he hits all of his incentives (which he does every year) which is partly covered by boosters. I also believe there are some endorsements in there.

UND is building a new practice facility and has a long term plan to renovate the stadium (though they'd never admit it, the blueprints/artist renderings have been leaked) and get back on campus again and I think you need a guy with a lot of energy to sell that idea back to the alums and fan base.

I certainly hope Caruso stays right where he's at considering his family is right there in the heart of the neighborhood and I am a alum of UST and UST football. But I wouldn't hate seeing him in GF, considering I have season tickets to UND football and it's been really tough to watch lately.

That being said, Tibesar or Bollinger gets the job.

Bench,

If you have the time in the next few years or so.  Catch the UND game at U of MT.  Games at Washington-Grizzly stadium in Missoula are the best.

I have it on very good authority the UND job will  be open this Sunday. Caruso would be an excellent candidate considering he has OC'd at USD, coached at NDSU, has head coaching experience in an area UND recruits, learned his defense from UND and has hired former UND standouts Digger Anderson and Brett Holinka.

However, UND alums are looking for a sexy name with UND connections like Brooks Bollinger (from Grand Forks dad was OC for UND) (coaches at Pitt) or Tim Tibesar (All-American linebacker for UND, coaches for Chicago Bears)

But, if Caruso were to get that job I would hope UST would make a strong play on keeping Kuchinski on as head coach. Just speculation, based on no authority whatsoever

Bench, do you have any idea what the UND job would pay vs. what Caruso is making at UST? Would it make sense to uproot his young family to be your neighbor.....?

105,

I couldn't find info on the UND football salary.  Craig Bohl at NDSU is making $373K this year.  However, the UND hockey coach is making just under $650k.

I figured a D3 job was anywhere from $50-80k annually.

What happens if a team was found using players that were ineligible on its football team?  Do they forfeit all wins for the season or just the games certain players played in?

Does the 2nd place team in that conference get the auto bid into the playoffs?

Plus, when was the last time coach Meidt was brought up on this board and where has his football career gone?  Last I thought he was linebacker coach for the bears around 5-6 years ago.

Wow! what gives??? drop a bomb like that and go off line? I hope you're not alluding to something...please share. :o

Haha!  There is no dirt on any team that I am aware of.  I was growing weary of reading of how bad the SC Times is and the SJU rube chats!!  ;D  So I figured I would start a thread about something else.  Looks like it got folks excited before the 2nd edition of ROR.

By asking if the 2nd place team would get the automatic bid, you were implying that Bethel had a ineligible player - not nice!!!   :o

Wasn't implying at all.  I even used the joking, big toothed smiling emoticon with a HAHA when I said there is no dirt on any team.

Let's move on.  You know what Johnnie posters when is the next SJU online chat?  Maybe I will listen to get an idea of your posts about it.

Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but this is just a tool shed move to pull. You've got a bunch of people waiting for the other shoe to drop and all assuming the worst about Coach Johnson and the Bethel program. I didn't find it humorous in the slightest, immature, yes.  ::)

Wasn't trying to be humorous at all and I wasn't implying at all about Bethel.  Coach Johnson has built a great program and I don't think kids would do anything to jeopardize it.

Take a breath, Bethel is in the playoffs and you have nothing to worry about.

I guess I may stick mostly to my comments about Moorhead and Montana.

I don't see any 2 loss team from the MIAC getting in this year......

x2, but I've been wrong once before...

I want to see CC get into the playoffs, it will be hard to get in with comparisons of the unbeaten or 1 loss teams in weaker conferences.  Especially the auto bids where teams have 2 or 3 losses and win the conf.

Does Franklin just get credit for barely losing to MUC early in the year?  Is MUC the same type of program they were in the early 2000's?  What's the strength of the conf?  What was UST ranked when SJU beat them (#2??), with the same approach SJU should have been a top 10 team in the rankings the following week but barely cracked the top 25.

I think SJU is going to kick Bethel's hinder and travel to the CatDome in round 2.  ;D

Yeah, I don't see that happening!

Tough loss for the Cobbers.  Getting outscored 34-7 after taking a 13-0 lead on the road is rough.  Maybe the cobbs still have a chance if they beat GAC this weekend.  It will be interesting to see what the ROR will be this week.  My guess, UST will be in and I hope CC is in too.

Duff, didn't you keep future NFL RB,Fred Jackson in check that day?

Come to think of it, yes, we laid the smackdown on Freddie Jackson and the rest of the Kohawks.  ;D

Freddie Jackson ran for 150 yards on 29 carries:
http://www.d3football.com/seasons/2002/contrib/20131107kzz3uu

And the final score was???  That was an arse-whooping no matter how you cut it, even if he rushed for 150 yards.  ::)

A smackdown on the Kohawks, no doubt. But it was actually that game that earned Freddie Jackson his second-team All-American status that year.

We played Coe in the playoffs in 2005.  Their running back Ashton Northern was averaging over 100yds/game and was certain he could against our D.  He got 43 yds on 16 carries or so.  The total rushing for their team was 27 net yds.  CC won the game 27-14 (later named the mud bowl).

I always enjoy a smackdown on the Kohawks!  Haha.  ;D
