In addition to the major blessings of the season, I'm grateful for the good times that watching our teams brings us, and for the great discussions on our board.

Happy holidays to all!

Just to follow up on Q's remarks--it is indeed good for the Titans to have Matt back.  Fisher and McGraw have handled the 2-guard position well, bringing (this season, anyway), different strengths.  As Q noted, Fisher has not been as accurate on 3's as in earlier years, but he is the strongest and perhaps most athletic of IWU's guards.  In the last few games he's made some drives to the basket that would do most frontcourt men proud.  McGraw has also played well.  Options are always good, and having another guard who can play either the 1 or the 2 will help.

The UPS game sounds like it will be a barnburner!

Ralph - I thought UT-Dallas played hard against IWU, but Alma looked pretty bad against Wabash and I was surprised they lost there. (I didn't see that game as we had a little football playoff game going on).

Smed,
I was surprised that Alma beat UT Dallas as well, given the performances we'd seen the night before.  There's a lot of talent on UT Dallas.  But on Saturday Dallas just never seemed in the game, and Alma followed their game plan almost perfectly.   Another example of why they play the games. ;)

Congratulations to IWU coach Mia Smith and her Titans on their 80-63 win over a ranked Stevens Point team.  The Titans outrebounded the taller Pointers and countered every attempt at a comeback with tight defense and balanced scoring.  Crystal Dye led the Titans with 18 points.

Well said, Michigander.  I was an undergraduate at Indiana in the early 70's and was in Philadelphia when the 75-76 Hoosiers won the D1 National Championship after an undefeated season.  Last year, Quinn Buckner said about that time that Bobby Knight used to tell them "Don't worry about the next game.  Worry about every posession."

This Titan team has the capability to achieve all of its goals...but they will have to work at it one posession at a time.

Joe,
Department meetings at MIT are about like department meetings at other academic institutions, as I remember.  I taught there from 1981-88.  The number of decimal places in the budget sheet is bigger, though.
