This is going to be fun.  Alternate LL one-man poll:

Ithaca, 1(A)
Hobart, 1 (B) - would be the field but: not getting IC at Butterfield, probably not gonna lose back to back games, 2 weeks to prep for RPI
RPI  1(C) - shoes game at home
Union 2 - shoes game away

In analyzing the RPI Engineers for this weekend's game with the Statesmen, I can characterize the RPI team as doing whatever it takes to win. This is despite the fact that they were outgained by their opponent in every game except the the blowout against 1-5 Buffalo State. In fact , against the Bombers they lost the yardage battle 418-162(Ithaca , how did you lose at home with this yardage advantage?....IC seemed to wear lead shoes in the redzone). This RPI rubberband defense is tough in the redzone and has 13 INTs on the year( 8 total against Allegheny and WPI). Their run defense is strong with only 506 yards against them , but 1,306 given up in the air shows some vulnerability. This undefeated team has a total yardage disadvantage against opponents of -151 yards( 1661 v. 1812). Their kicking game is decent and return game is very good. So ,how did they win all their games with such mediocre stats except for the 13-2 INT advantage? It seems the offense has made plays at the critical times of the game  and a defense that is carrying this team with a "bend don't break" approach that toughens in the red zone and is always lurking to pick a pass off.
I am actually less scared of this ranked team after reviewing the stats. Hobart not only has a chance , but I believe a good chance on Saturday. Turnovers will be the key to the game and Hobart's redzone offense. I think the Hobart passing game will get their yards and the run game, even without Harvey, has shown improvement as our young Oline keeps improving. I also think Hobart has a special weapon in Kyle Hackett , and if Hobart wins, Kyle will be the difference if Hobart sputters in the redone(Hobart is 21-21 in redzone scoring this year). The Hobart defense is vulnerable to even a methodical offense like RPI, but they have improved week by week , and hopefully are at the peak of their ability.
So, I am saying ...we have a decent chance in Troy....the Hobart coaching staff seemed to grow up in the Union game, DeWall  can start to earn a reputation with a win against RPI this Saturday.  Go Bart

To Dutch Boy this is the BIG game for RPI and will provide us with the most insight into how good they may be (within reason). Granted Hobart's season has not been impressive (by Hobart standards), especially with that mother****ing loss to Endicott, however Dutch Boy feels Bart has hit their stride and will be playing the best ball they are capable of this season come Saturday. League games are especially tough and can certainly bring out the best in teams. If RPI can't beat Hobart, hiccup or not, it tells Dutch they really aren't as good as some may think. IDBHO all the pressure sits on the Engineers this weekend. If they can stop fantasizing about Shirley in a G-String, focus, and win in a convincing manner, they might just really be top 20 worthy.
Dutch Boy,
I just sent five girls named Shirley to Troy in search of the Engineer starters....I told the Shirleys when they find them.....just Distract, Distract, Distract....Triple Ds
At this point, are there really women named Shirley who are younger than 50?

Oh hell no.  Shirley is grandma's euchre partner.

With regard to Hobart-RPI:  Two teams who control their own destiny, with a series record of 30-30-1, and a number of significant games and nail-biters in the past 10 years.  Does the Liberty League really get any more fun than this?  Almost fun enough to make me want to spend an afternoon in Troy.  But not quite.

No excuses or distractions. Just another Hobart victory.

Hope the beer is helping you wash down that foot in your mouth, Billy.

Not just my regular 'douche' meter, William, but my 'super douche' meter. Ding ding ding ding. We have a winner!!! But hey, on the bright side, we all now know that UFanBlll wasn't some brilliant ruse to throw everyone off of your scent of finding out your real name was Herman.

Good luck to the douchey Dutchman today. Don't put out any paper bags lit on fire with your boots, Bill.

Good luck to all today.  Even Bill.  He clearly cannot afford another "L" in his life.

Allright, it's been about 15 years since I had any picks, but here goes....

Hobart 28 Union 17  I think Union is the better football team and will be the better team at the end of the season.  But Hobart needs this game and gets the edge at home.  A small part of me has questions about Union and their non league schedule, but they did what they needed to do and Hobart slipped up bad once.  That being said, this is a rebound game and Hobart will win.

Ithaca 24 RPI 13  Like Hobart, Ithaca is at home and their motivation is a loss from last year and some lackluster play on offense the past few weeks.  I think the grass will be a factor as well.

St. Lawrence 27 Rochester 10  St. Lawrence still has more talent from top to bottom and that isn't even in question.  I think they roll.

Bonus games:

New York Yankees 13 Oakland A's 2  For those of you who live in gambling states, take out money on your 401K, pay the fees, and go big.

LSU -3 at Florida  Florida isn't there yet, LSU isn't going to be in the final 4 this year, but they will win this one big.

Kentucky at Texas A&M -6  Kentucky gets exposed on Sat.  Taste it.

Solid.  I am loving the Hobart and Yankees optimism.  But there is no way both win on the same day.  Bart gets a W, taking moneyball and the moneyline at +167.

Bonus NFL game:

Buffalo (+3.5) 21
Tennessee 17

The roller-coaster to the number one draft pick continues.  Shady finally breaks out, gets traded immediately afterward to keep them on track.

100% there's NO way the Yankees and Hobart win on the same day. IF the Yankees actually play on Saturday(long shot), they are going to get destroyed. Hobart will probably win though.

Derp.  My cold meds hadn't kicked in.    Same week. ;D

Shaping up to be an interesting few weeks in the Old LL.   Possibly a 3-1 Hobart getting a 4-0 Union at home.  If Ithaca is that close to Brockport, watch out.  Maybe a shoes game for a bid?

Lot of "ifs" here, and I'm not sure if there is a contender nationally.  But this could be a fun league season.

Poor Fisher.  Can't believe I just said that, but whatever. Over/under on wins this year at 2...

As a Hobart guy, I was pretty shell-shocked after Brockport looked unstoppable the first week.  Seeing them roll the past few weeks makes me feel better.  Just a really damn good football team, averaging a ho-hum 536 yards of offense per game.  That Alfred game could be a lot of fun to watch.

Must feel like Xmas in September, Hobart only being down 4 getting the ball.  That was an UGLY first 25 min.......

dlip ****ing loves this time of year! He just purchased Kickoff, and is getting ready to head for Cape Cod for a week with the family. Every end of summer has been the same now for dlip since Kickoff came out. Purchase Kickoff, head to Cape Cod with no wireless (for the most part), ****ing drool about the upcoming D3 football season while reading Baldacci, Grisham, Silva, etc books on the beach, stuff his face with as much chowder and seafood as possible, and fly home on 90 and read kickoff the second he gets home and the head down to Frank bailey field ASAHP and watch his beloved Dutchmen practice...absolutely harmonious!!!!
Dlip....good luck to the Dutchmen this year... hoping they regain past form so I can anticipate the Union-Hobart battles of old....make sure the radar detector is working on 90  ;D

Thanks Bartman +k! You know dlip wishes the Pumpkinheads the very best! Last year's game was exciting and hopefully this years game will follow suit. He thinks the Dutch are a few years away from bringing the program back up to speed on a year in and year out basis. No doubt in dlip's mind Behrman will get them to where they need to be.

As a Hobart grad, married to a Union gal, I have been enjoying the past few years.  But it's always a little more fun in our house when Union is on form.  Here's hoping they get back sooner rather than later.

Way late to the party, but I really like the addition of Buff State to the LL.  I think they have been better than their record the past few years, and now I will get to see Bart in my own backyard.    Win-win.

Nice job to David Sylvester, from my high school alma mater, on making the D3 All America team.

And if you buy these teams, Hobart may have the number one QB/WR combo in all of D3 coming back next year.  Here's hoping for a deep run in 2017.  Go Bart!

I have a feeling the kicker is going to get a chance to redeem himself.   Punch this first drive in the end zone AU, and you can forget about all the 1st half nonsense.

This one has barn-burner written all over it.

Good win Alfred.  Bart went toe to toe with UMU, and was not physically over-matched.  Was 21 all late in the third, and ran the ball on them well.

I am rooting for you guys from here on out.  Take them down.

Oh yes, UMU.    ;D

Blocked punt by Hobart.  Drive start in MUC territory.
