CarlosRossiLep... How can I forget about the hat....
Another submission for fast food that takes years off your life:
The DUI from Jim's Burger in Pico Rivera, right on Rosemead...
Chili Cheese Fries topped with Pastarmi AND carne asada....

No a better question is how could I forget about Jim's... the first time I saw that DUI I thought I was going to go in to cardiac arrest from the sweet smell of that pastrami and carne :o.

Good effort by the Redlands boys.  It's too bad about those late second quarter touchdowns by the Johnnies because it was looking like it was going to be a much closer game   :-[.

OK this is the best place for some good ol' artery clogging pastrami.  If anyone questions me they haven't had the pastrami chilli cheese fries which take a year off your life and you don't even mind.

All this White Castle this and In-n-Out that...

How could Tommy's be left out of this discussion?

If you don't see the Shack, take it back.

C'mon Oxy folks, Colorado and Hill is your backyard!   8)

Come on!  I love Tommy's.  On the way to Vegas from SoCal you take the 15.  Which means you go through the wonderful metropolis that is Barstow.  Which means I always stop at the Tommy's they have off of Lenwood.

  Coming and Going ;D

Having spent much time in both I would have to say Prunetucky fits Prunedale much better than Fontucky fits Fontana.
Just a reminder to the posters partaking in this discussion - Please double check your spelling before hitting the "post" button. ;)

Yeah, I see how a typo here would be bad for young children to read.

Its currently a chilly 86 degrees in Redlands.
A freezing 80 in West LA where I'm at... I broke a sweat sitting in the sun outside on my lunch.
Ladies were looking lovely walking around in skirts.
;D

Snow you had your sunscreen on right?  You know how much I worry   :D .

CarloRossiLep...Prunetucky,where else can you go and see a 1.5 Million dollar home sitting next to a mobile home thats been there since 1959.Have you been there recently?
Yeah it's been a few years since I've spent significant time there.  Oh I'm not saying it's not a decent enough place I'm just saying I'd rather go down to Monterey and live in a place where the 1.5 million dollar home is on a block of 1.5 million dollar homes with bay views.  Prunetucky is still a pretty rural place right?  Small roads going up into the hills?  The mobile homes still have horses, chickens, and old cars in the yard?

Speaking of great places to live you cant beat Prunedale(Prunetucky to the locals),lovely central California.

Prunetucky! Haven't heard that in a while... but I would much rather drive 25 minutes south and live in Monterey  ;).  Having spent much time in both I would have to say Prunetucky fits Prunedale much better than Fontucky fits Fontana.

PS.. CarlosRossiLep, did you see those guys get ejected from the game this past saturday? So much for having school spirit I guess... They were only cheering. I think that security officer must have had a chip on his shoulder...

Yeah, I heard about that  ::).  To paraphrase something a friend said that day "I wish La Verne would try to act like a real school just once."

Ah well, there's always next year.

Good luck Redlands make us proud.

The backfield (RBs) must be very sharp and able to notice hand pressure, hip levels, foot pressure and location to determine which guys are coming and which guys are backing out. Very nuanced, but unless you can read the signals, that is the only way to pick up who is coming and where.

Sounds more like the VIP Room at Spearmint Rhino.

You know me too well!  ;D

Can we get a scouting report on the Bulldogs (besides that they will out-hit, out-hustle, out-run, out-think, out-drink, out-athletic, and out-score the Johnnies)?  What type of offense do they run?  How many games did they play on new-style turf this year?  Any grass vs. turf tendencies?  Their defense looks small--I assume they are fast.  What type of offenses have had the best luck against them this year?

I have to admit those Redlands guys can hydrate with anyone in the country.  :D

Good luck to all SCIAC teams this week. I'll be at the ORT (See ya there carlorossilep) to see the Leos try to upset the Chapman Panthers...

Any before any whining starts about not making the playoffs from CLU/UR/OXY...

Just remember that ULV went 9-0 in 95 and got no invite >:(
It even prompted a column by Bill Plaske.

I hear that brother!  But I remember also hearing that they didn't get that invite because of some indiscretions in a hotel the last time they were invited to the playoffs :-\

You know I'll be there tomorrow with a jug of my namesake.

Nice!  You know the biggest thing that jumped out at me in the write up is that they actually ran the ball a little bit.  He only had 14 carries and I don't know if those were when the game was out of hand but a huge problem I noticed when I saw them live was that they ran the ball THREE times in the whole game.

Congratulations Leps. The first one is the hardest.  Lets finish strong against Chapman and have something to build on next year.

Yes, La Verne used to beat people. During their run from 1993-1995, they just about beat everybody, including some very good Redlands teams. That run also included an 8-0 1996 team that was beat by Redlands the last game of the season for the SCIAC title in overtime. It's just strange that they fell off the map as a program after such a good run.

It was a change in administration that helped them fall of the map.  Rex Huigens was rumored to retire because it became such a stressful situation dealing with the Admissions office because they became so anti-athletics.  I've been told by former players of his that he was one of the best recruiters you would ever meet but he got so frustrated with the administration that it wasn't worth it anymore.  This is just what I've heard and none of it is from Coach Huigens himself.  He's doing pretty well with the Leopards golf team though.
