Thinking of Warren Lahr, CWRU's mascot should be a Red Rider or Rough Cat, not a Spartan

At first, if he's good enough he can play for the Wenham Truckers and then when he becomes 40, he can play in the Roy Hobbs league

Last year my wife and I attended the Wabash/CWRU playoff game in University circle. Although being a CWRU grad grad, we had to sit amongst the Wabash followers. We encountered no disrespectful fans and that game gave me a new insight into DIII FB. Enjoyed watching true student athletes playing for the fun of it. I still think that CWRU should be the Rough Cats or the Red Riders.

On the subject of Carnegie Tech vs Case, my memory tells me that Case hosted Carnegie Tech for homecoming. If I remember correctly it must have been in the early '50's. My memory isn't very clear for the '40's.

I am posting this as a Div 1 FB fan. Yesterday I took the opportunity to attend the Div 3 playoff game between the Wabash Cannonballs and the CWRU Rough Cats(as they should be named) at Case Field at the corner of E.115 and Bellflower(what a neighborhood to be raised in!). Whatever happened to Finegan Field? I found it to be as entertaining as any Div 1 game. Of course the talent wasn't equal but the execution was as good as many of the higher Div. games(i.e. Duke/Notre Dame game) Two pluses for Div 3 games are the lack of head bobbing, chest thumping and trash talking of Div. 1. Also, without the omnipresent TV timeouts the game flowed better and the time of the game was cut by 30 to 45 minutes. Unfortunately Div 3 games don't get their deserved recognition for pure FB enjoyment. I might even become a fan.

Trin8, last week Mt. Union lost its first game in 110 regular season games as stated in midwestern newspapers. Does the 55 game streak of Mt Union's to which you refer include playoff games. If so, isn't it apples to oranges to compare Trinity's streak to Mt. Union's when Mt. Union enters the playoff arena?

After reviewing Div III top 25 today, anyone know why Trinity wouldn't be included? Is there politics since NESCAC doesn't participate in the playoffs?
