Noticed Brett Elliott listed as a QB coach, which is sweet. Anyone know if this is just an off season gig or if his pro playing days are officially over?

Linfield QBs are lucky to have him on board.

Congrats Warhawks! Way to take down the giant.

Another nice piece on Elliott's signing and the fact that the Texas AM player that broke Elliott's wrist at Utah is now a teammate! Brett has nice things to say about Linfield, too:

The best part of this first link is the description of the QB they cut before signing Elliott (apparently the guy had trouble throwing a spiral!). There is also a little insight on why he quit the Hamilton squad:

1988, Linfield v. PLU at Maxwell Field. As a freshman, my first Linfield/PLU game. My work study job was as a photographer for the then SID, so I was on the sideline.

As usual, an epic back and forth battle. Late in the game, Linfield scores the winning touchdown on a fly pattern down the sideline (Hare to Boschma, I believe).

The place just goes nuts.

Deafening sound.

Yeah, yeah, and you walked uphill to school in the snow AND heat...

If the mighty KLYC had a reach beyond Newberg radio might be an option.

BTW, last week I read the post patterns board via my phone and it worked liked a champ. But sometimes a text message is far easier to check.

This is probably a hail mary, but I have two reserved seat tix for tomorrow's Linfield game. Our seat partners can't make it and I couldn't find takers before now. Seats are about the 45 yd line, little less than half way up, and not obstructed by the posts since the installation of field turf moved the field back a few yards  ;)

Shoot me a private message with contact info and we can figure out a transfer. I'll check tonight and in the morning, but after 8:45a I am off to kid soccer and then the game.

Also, since people were looking for in-game updates via text message, someone should consider setting up a Twitter page (www.twitter.com) and posting updates there. Twitter pages are like mini-blogs where you update via texting from your phone. People can either read online or have the updates texted to their phones. (Sounds like a new technology for WC11 to check out, huh?)

Brett Elliott has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL on their practice squad:

The end of the UW-USC game is Exhibit #1 why the new clock rule is horrible.

Don't know if anyone posted this (I didn't wade through a couple of the back pages I missed), but found this comment in Tuesday Morning Quarterback, Gregg Easterbrook's column at ESPN.com Page 2, quite interesting. It was in his "Running Up The Score Watch" section:

"Meanwhile Mount Union College -- year-in, year-out home of the worst sportsmanship in Division III -- relentlessly ran up the score on Otterbein, winning 71-14."

Easterbrook needs to be less cryptic about his feelings...

Ragan was listed as just a RB in the game program on Saturday. I thought he was great and brought a real spark to the team in the second half.

Give WOU some credit, this is a team whose major players have been together for three years and they looked it. Their O and D lines blew us back.

But, Linfield's D was much improved in the second half and would have pitched a shut out in the third and fourth without the boneheaded 12 man on the field mistake. And the O will improve, and as Benzel gets more snaps, and as Ragan becomes a force, opposing defenses won't be able to rush seven guys and get away with it.

And, hell, we're still 12-2 against WOU over the past 14 seasons.

Brett just made ESPN Sports Center....well kinda. They showed two plays from the game, a Whitehurst interception (tipped, juggled, picked) and then they went to a 4th quarter play where Brett rolls out and hits the tight end with a pass, and the tight end gets TATTOOED!

No mention by name, though. But for the 7 seconds they showed he looked good!

...but it's a dry heat.

Regarding Elliott in San Diego, the fans on the Chargers chat board (so, yeah, take the following with a grain of salt, you know those chat board posters  ;) ), he was suited up on Saturday. Many expect him to get a couple series, perhaps in the next game, but not much more.

The upside is that most people that do post about him are curious about checking him out. Think he's looked good in training camp.

They just ran a graphic during the East/West Shrine Game of the participating players who are going to Linfield. They'd mentioned D-I bound guys, whether recruited or walk-ons, earlier, and said they'd be remiss not to mention another football powerhouse in the state. Here's the list, I know nothing about any of them:

Ryan Circle, Pleasant Hill
Chris Buck, Cascade Christian
Steven Dark, Stayton

Back to the game, since now I have some guys to watch for.
