How did the Hope Women do tonight?

Congratulations to the Hope Men!

In my school we had twin boys with different last names.  Mom wasn't certain who was responsible and wasn't getting a paternity test done.  This from the same mother who named three of her boys, Bob, Bobby, and Robert!

Why are the stupid so fertile?

Pregame rituals:  Old Dew Crew shirt from the '95-'96 campaign and a Starburst at the half and maybe another midway through the second half.  Now revealing these may jinx the game on Friday, but can I jinx it if I'm not there?

Yes. So how about we return focus to something much more pressing, like this weekend's sectional game against OWU!

I was simply clarifying, didn't intend to dwell upon it.

If I recall the B-W game correctly, which I still need therapy for, Hope started fouling B-W in the closing seconds.  Indicative of a team being down a few points.  B-W had a phenomenal free throw shooting percentage that year, so fouling them really didn't help the Dutchmen.  Ahhh that was a painful trip down memory lane!

I do recall Kevin Britnell having a few choice comments for people guarding him.  At one game, I could hear his comments to an Alma player.  They went something like this, "I am going to hit from there next time down the floor (points to spot behind three line)."  Next time down the floor, Britnell hits a three and says, "Told you I was gonna hit from there, B*****!"  There were other times I could hear some of the things which he said to opposing players.  Gotta love the old Civic Center and being right next to the players.

I believe the last time Hope closed was the winter of 93-94.  It was bitter cold and really icy, it happened to be a Friday, so we got an unexpected three day weekend.

The Dutch must be slipping cause we had school today, one of the few around the Marshall/Albion area.  I couldn't get my car door open, so had to call my dad and get him up so I could steal the truck.  Got to love being a short distance away.  Props to the oldman!  Maybe I should get a remote car starter?

I was watching the WGVU broadcast with their terrible annoucers.  The main announcer, Brent Ashcraft I believe, said that Hope came in as "a slight underdog."  I wonder what Brent Ashcraft was smoking before the game?  If you just look at win-loss records Hope was the favorite.  Granted Hope doesn't have a winning record at Knollcrest, is that what made them the underdog in Brent's opinion?

Another thing it would be nice if WGVU got the color guy from the host school.  Maybe they are doing that since Phelps is a Calvin grad.  Any ideas?

On Rushing the floor... Hope did rush the floor after the '96 victory over K-Zoo at the Dow.  I know I was there on the floor.  After Alma's victory over Hope in '98 some of the Scots rushed the floor, not many there though.  I do recall the '96 Hope victory at Calvin, we did rush the floor.  One of the Hope cheerleaders was waving the Hope flag while faceing the Hope bench.  One of the Calvin/knollcrest staff "helped" the Hope cheerleader off the floor.  They claimed he was messing up the floor, which is odd because he was on the floor during timeouts.

I have no problem with rushing the floor as long as fans are not going to the opposing side and taunting them.

I was hoping to see some B-W shirts again in the Calvin crowd, but I suppose those are long gone and few outside of here would know the meaning.

I had a good feeling about the Packers game last Sunday and we all see how that turned out.  I have a bad feeling about this game, does that mean Hope wins.  Who knows it may just be my negative attitude.  I've never claimed to have been psychic.  Come to think of it, I felt good about Hope's chances against B-W.

Let me finish my previous post... It seems as if the hometeam gets some questionable calls their way.  I'm not just saying at Hope gets the calls, but at Albion, Olivet, Calvin, etc.

Wait, let me get this straight, there has been questionable officiating in the MIAA?  When did this start to happen?  I thought we had the most qualified officials in all of college basketball.  You all must be pulling my leg.  Sometimes it seems if the home team gets some questionabl

Correct, 98 was Hope's second place finish to UW Plattville.  Also that year Hope lost on the road to Alma, in a game that saw the worst officiating ever.  I think Meulenberg filed assault charges after that game, or should have.

I receive the worst newspaper in the world, the Battle Creek Enquirer.  They failed to mention either the game or GVW's record.  I can't imagine the ineptitude of a paper that close not even mentioning Olivet's game, much less GVW's record.

I hate point this out and go against the grain here, but I wasn't terribly impressed with Marcus' play down low.  I think he was over matched by the Olivet defense and certainly the rest of the Hope team wasn't rebounding well.  I believe they played terribly in the low post and Olivet certainly played an excellent second half.

Congratulations to GVW

Did anyone else think that Olivet's #22, Jay Cooper I believe, need to play with Shoulder pads and a helmet?  He wasn't exactly playing a clean game he was pretty rough with his fouls.
