Please add me to the Norse fanbase.  My attendance on the board was hampered due to the stinking IT guys here...its much harder to keep up on everything when you can't get information from the loyal followers of the IIAC

Dutchie, there's plenty of room. If you're not too careful, you may stay.

Congrats to all winners and especially the Dutch as they took a HUGE step forward with another win whille being out gained.

I am sadly disappointed that the most loyal of Central backers could not pick their Dutch this weekend.  DF2004, DF1 and Klompen, among others.  No Dutch letters for you!

Ouch, I know -- lesson learned! I'd rather drop the pick and pick up the W in this case, though!

Congrats to the Beavers -- even with a loss yesterday, you guys are having a hell of a season.

Consider me on the 'Burg bandwagon in the postseason. From those of us who have been there, do us proud!  ;)

Thanks, but I'll stick with Central. Cheering for Wartburg is like enjoying a fine adult beverage -- sometimes enjoyable, but you have to know when enough is enough.  ;)

+K for that dutchfan....moderation is the key   :)

It pains me as always to say it, but congrats to the Knights on their season.  Another IIAC title and another trip to the playoffs.  The win on Saturday should all but sure up the COY honors for Willis.

I guess I am joining DutchFan2K4 on the 'Burg bandwagon for the 2008 playoffs...I hope they represent the IIAC well.

WH...is there room for a Norse grad on the 'Burg 2008 Playoff bandwagon ???

I will chime in on postseason awards...I haven't been posting but I have been following the IIAC action this season.

COY: Anderson and Willis.  Whoever gets the conference championship gets the nod.
POY: McGrew.  He is having a fantastic season for Loras...168 yards/game.
Surprise: Luther being .500...with all the people missing from the Norse offense, I was sure they would be below .500 but Durnin has the defense playing solid every Saturday.
Disappointment: Coe being winless at home is shocking.

As far as mascots, I will always be partial to the Norse.

Finally.....dbljay21 has come back to the IIAC board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The IT dept has had this site fire-walled and I have been unable to participate in the always colorful banter between the regulars on the IIAC board.  But I am back now so here we go....

I look forward to getting into the discussion as the playoffs near and I hope that everyone is doing well.   :)

Are you still coaching? If so how did the season go?

Yep, still coaching...season isn't over yet.  We qualified for State playoffs again.  First time in school history that Curie has gone back-to-back as a State qualifier.  We got our butts handed to us by a dominant Bolingbrook team in the first round, though.  Watch for the name Roosevelt Holiday, college football fans.  He plays DT for the Brook and he is a monster.  6'3" listed as 300, but probably 285.  He is quick off the ball, strong, light on his feet and fast for his size.

Curie has a 2nd round Prep Bowl game on Thursday against Lincoln Park.  We beat them during the season 41-20.  It was 41-6 when we pulled our starters at the end of the 3rd quarter.  We should get a victory on Thursday and move on to play again next week.  I will keep you updated

We only had over night trips for Central, Simpson and BV and we had the schedule set so that we had one overnight trip one year and two the next year, so travelling wasn't that bad for LC.  And we always had to stop at Bishops in Dubuque on the way home from Loras or UD games.  Good stuff there...gotta love the buffets  :)

My New Year's plans are the same every year...I throw a house party with a bunch of my closest friends where we do a beer exchange and have many cocktails, Bloody Mary's included, champagne toast at Midnight and usually a trip to one of the many local establishments within walking distance, go to lunch New Year's day and enjoy some college football while re-hashing the previous nights events.  Its always a great time.

A toast to all of the IIAC-ers...

May your glass be ever full,
May the roof over your head be always strong,
And may you be in heaven
Half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Happy New Year!!!!

Congrats on the successfull surgery.  Surgeries, no matter how minor are a scary thing.  Glad all went well.  Does that mean he can now flip you the bird pain free after you ask him to shovel the driveway???  ;D

Well I suppose that is an option.  However we have a nice snow blower and Mrs. Dutchfan would  not let him out to do it anyway so I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and do it.  Hey a thought did just occur.  Maybe I have a lucky snow blower.

If your snow blower is lucky, you better hope for some early snow come September, otherwise you won't get to use it very much during the football season...and to be honest, I don't think the Dutch need anymore luck.  After all, it is how they won ALL of those close football games this season  ;) ;) ;)

Well you know what they say better to be lucky than good sometimes.   ;D ;D ;D ;D

You just lucked yourselves all the way to the Quarterfinals...when does the luck run out?  I hope you guys aren't planning on going a lucky 12-1 next year :)

As I took down my Festivus pole this morning, I figured I better come on here and hope the rest of us had a happy time overeating this weekend. Here's to hoping Santa treated everyone as good as he treated my daughter.

How did the airing of grievances go?  And who won the feats of strength?

Alright footballdaddy.
your moment in the sun has come. For post #200.....
Favorite Movie of all time.

You are a real humanitarian Walston...helping footballdaddy out like this to get him to 200 posts and the coveted karma power.  +K for your efforts to bring karma to another board member  :)

and my favorite football player...Barry Sanders.  He did more with less than any RB in history.  I hate to think about the numbers he would have put up if he had either an offensive line or a lead blocker  :)
