Coocoo, from the stats is sounded to me like Coe got the rock jammed down their throat.  I know their stud middle linebacker was out, but I was still disappointed in their run defense.  Especially since everyone knew that the Cobbers are a run first, pass second team.

I look for their entire coaching staff to stay in tact, and continue to bring in some top level talent to become a force in the playoffs.  They are about 6-7 impact players away from being a national contender.  If their coaches can find those 6-7 guys, they will make a run beyond the first round.

Congrats to Central as well.  They will easily be the team to beat next year because they return a lot of people.

I hear you loud and clear Dusty SJU.  Who cares about shaking hands after the game.  If you want to congratulate some guys from the other team afte the game that is fine.  If you don't, it's no big deal.  If you want to shake each and every gusy hand, then knock yourself out.  Any pansy that is worried about shaking hands after the game shouldn't be in the game.

Class or no class, the Midwest Conference has once again proven that they are way behind the rest of DIII football.  If any MWC administrators read this board I hope you're ashamed of the stupid rules that you limit your conference with.  You deserve to get smoked in the playoffs every year.

I congratulate the players and coaches of Monmouth College on a great season.  It is too bad that you have to play in league that supports mediocrity!

Amen to that Kohawk Sideliner.  Maybe the Coe administration will get up to speed with the rest of the playoff world and make some additions to their rinki-dink stadium.  Of course before they do anything to the stadium they need more full time assistant coaches/recruiters.

Dutchfan, I hope your right about the Kohawks and Central doing well in the playoffs.  I like Coe's chances a lot, but the Dutch going to Whitewater has me worried about a potential blowout.  I hope I'm wrong.

I think it is a joke that Coe has to travel in the first round of the playoffs.  Can anyone explain how the NCAA can rationalize this? Concordia-Moorhead had the same record as Coe, but they were not a conference champion.

The Coe offense put up some big numbers today.  Needless to say their defense turned in another outstanding day.......they have been the best defense in the league week in and week out.
Congrats to the Coe coaches and players.....you guys have a lot of class.

We'll see how their defense does against playoff opponents.  The Iowa Conference doesn't have any high powered offensive attacks for them to go against.

Message to Andy Tekippe:  You won't be able to throw two picks in the playoffs and win the game.

Listen to you narrow minded folks, all talking about bleachers, field turf, endowments and concession stands.  The best coaches will be able to recruit the best athletes and win the most games.  The problem is that most of these schools probably don't pay very much for their assistant coaches which makes it difficult to retain them.  I always felt the assistant coaches should have been paid as much as the professors because they probably had more impact on my development and they definitely cared more about my future well being.  I firmly believe that if you invest heavily in a quality staff of assistants and pay them accordingly, it will lead to championship seasons on a consistent basis.

I would like to thank all the coaches in the league who currently bust their ass for low pay, you are champions every year no matter what.

This is a huge week and I think Coe will have to figure out how to consistently run the ball for four quarters.  This is something they have not been able to do consistently.  The Wartburg/Coe game will be won in the trenches and I just don't think Coe has the juice to do it.  The Coe dline doesn't exactly present a feirce pass rush.  Their dends are easy to beat on the roll out. They do have some good dbacks though.

Wartburg -10 over Coe
Central -3 over Luther
Cornell -7 over Dubuque
Simpson -10 over Loras

Hey Show, I've got $500(Monopoly money of course) that says BV won't take Coe.  I'll even give you 14 points!

CooCoo, I like some of your all-league picks, especially Jon Rife.  I used to watch him play at CR Jefferson.  I'll put him against any receiver in the league, and people don't mention him much.....he is a clutch performer.

Sherden is very good, but he is probably the most overrated player in the league in my opinion.

Coe -14 over BV
Luther -10 over Simpson
Wartburg -34 over UD
Central -21 over Cornell

Iowagrad, I'll put my money on the Staker kid from Coe to shut down the Loras guy when they play each other.  I was glad to see Loras finally put some points on the board.

The difference on Saturday for Coe was that their running attack came up big when it matter most on that 3rd down when Suckow busted the big run.  When Coe played Central they went three and out in a similar situation and they didn't put the game away when they should have.

Does anyone win a prize for the first post on the historic "50th page"?

Hoover, I am a fan of championship football, sports gambling,  and particularly good defense.  I like Wartburg, but I also like Coe.  I wasn't as impressed with Luther although they are getting better.

If Coe's offense gets on track they could really take off because there defense is real stingy.  The league should come down to the Coe/Wartburg game once again.

I was at the Coe - Luther game.  I was very impressed with the Coe defense, especially against the run.  Sherden earned every yard he got, and was never a factor.  His stats are a lot more impressive than he is.

Both of these teams have excellent special teams.  Coe's offense needs to get it in gear, but they have the weapons to do it.  Their quarterback in steady, and their receivers are outstanding(Rife and Suckow - worth the $6 admission and more).

It was good to see Wartburg return to form.  They are the second best team in the league, and will present more  of a problem for Coe than Luther did.  With a defense like Coe's, they will be in every game the rest of the way.

I think that Luther will have to use Sherden more in the passing game (screen passes, etc.) to have him put up some big yards.  I think the Coe defense is too stingy for Luther just to line up and blow them off the ball.  I look for Luther to use a lot of screen/draws and to pass a lot on first down.  Throwing the ball will be tough.  I think the Staker kid from Coe is one of the best shut down corners in DIII.

Offensively, I think Dutchfan2004 is right on about the Coe offense.  They need to score more points.  I don't think rotating three quarterbacks is the right thing to do at any level.

I'm 6-2, but I'm just getting warmed up.  This will be a 4-0 week.

Coe -10 v. Luther.......Luther will have tough sledding against a solid defense(best LB's and DB's in the league), and a Coe offense that doesn't put it on the ground.

Wartburg -14 v. BV........the Knights will answer some questions in this game.

Simpson -3 v. Central......Central won't be able to run early or pass late.
Loras over Cornell.....a very boring, yet close game.
