I also like how you pointed out that TCNJ is having such a fantastic year so you can either crow about a win or brush off a loss when the Lions take on Johns Hopkins today. We'll see what happens when TCNJ has a committee of pitchers take the mound after playing 5 NJAC games in four days.
TCNJ @ Johns Hopkins has been postponed due to rain. They have rescheduled it for next Monday the 28th. With that being two days after the Kean doubleheader and right before the NJAC playoffs I highly doubt TCNJ will throw their top pitchers in Baltimore.

Hopkins had its season opener against Rutgers-Newark postponed today. Make-up date for the doubleheader is TBA.
Thanks Blue Jay Fan! That was on my schedule for tomorrow and would not have known if you didn't post. For some reason I never check the school's website....maybe I should start.

I have a question....I am going to be in Waukegan, IL next week and I am going to try to get to the Elmhurst @ Carthage game in Kenosha on Wednesday. Every time I go to a new city/town I like to try the local food and since I am in Wisconsin I am thinking a good brat is in my future. Can anyone from the area, or someone that knows the area, please let me know where I can get a good brat on my way to Kenosha or in Kenosha?? Or is there something else the area is known for?
Thanks!
Thanks!

PrymeObjective.....here is a write-up that Knightstalker wrote about the Farmingdale @ NJCU game back in late November. I was at that game too and was impressed with Rams. Here is his write-up:
Quote from: Knightstalker on November 29, 2007, 10:31:42 AM
Caught the NJCU Farmingdale game last night. The Knights looked decent and should improve. A couple of freshmen, Derrick Miller and Tom McDermott are getting a lot of playing time and both look pretty good. Miller has a nice shot and McDermott looks to be a good rebounder and defender. Dana John broke the schools 3 point record last night and should go over 1000 points for his career before the semester ends.
Farmingdale has a pretty good team it appears. Santana is the real deal, he does shoot his free throws from the middle of the circle. Lipka and Shannon are both good players and all three are good shooters. They have good depth and as the season progresses should play some good defense. They used the press but they need to improve it if they expect to be effective later in the season. I think the Rams should contend for the Skyline title. They have done a very good job of building a competitive program and are getting players from good HS programs.
There was a crew there from ESPN filming some of the game for a piece they are doing on Dana John which I believe airs on December 11. This is what a reliable source told me.
I was also told that Kevin Tucker should be back next semester.

According to the NJCU webcast that is currently doing the NJCU @ Kean game.....Dana John is not playing today due to a broken bone in his face. John was elbowed in the face during the Ramapo game this past Wednesday night. Ira Thor (NJCU SID) is webcasting the game and says they are hopeful John will return to action next week but is being held out today for precautionary reasons.
For anyone interested to listening to today's game here is the link http://www.njcugothicknights.com/

It was good seeing you at the game last night Knightstalker.
In my opinion NJCU looked a lot better last night then they did against Curry a couple of weeks ago. I agree with you about Miller.....he has a real nice touch from the outside and should really help this team. The Gothic Knights are a small team this year but they sure can run the floor. They will create match-up issues for bigger teams that don't run.
I am glad to see another hoops season has started and can't wait to see how the NJAC shakes out this year.

From the William Paterson Website:
Mike Lauterhahn Named Baseball Head Coach
WAYNE , N.J. – Former William Paterson standout Mike Lauterhahn has been named the Pioneers' new head baseball coach, the University announced Aug. 15. Lauterhahn will assume his new duties on Aug. 27.
Most recently, Lauterhahn has served as the varsity head coach at Rutherford High School (2001-07), leading the Bulldogs to a 129-55-1 record during his seven seasons, the 2004 and 2005 Group 2 state titles, Group 2 runner-up finishes in 2001 and 2003, and the Bergen County Scholastic League's (BCSL) American Division crowns in 2001 and 2003. The 2005 Bergen County, BCSL-American and northjerseysports.com Coach of the Year, Lauterhahn has sent more than 20 of his former student-athletes on to play in the college ranks, and mentored three more who signed contracts with Major League Baseball clubs.
"Mike Lauterhahn brings with him a wealth of experience at all levels of competitive baseball," said Arnold Speert, William Paterson University President. "His experience and his familiarity with William Paterson University, our mission and New Jersey high school talent position him to successfully lead the Pioneers for years to come."
Lauterhahn will succeed his former coach, Jeff Albies, who led William Paterson to an 862-401-15 record and two national championships (1992, 1996) during his 33 years at the helm. Lauterhahn's connection to the Pioneer program stretches back more than a quarter century, as his father, Bob, just completed his 27 th season as an assistant coach, and his brother, Dan (1995-97), was an all-American at the school and a 1997 draft selection of the Detroit Tigers.
"Mike is an outstanding individual who possesses an excellent work ethic, passion for the game and a life-long commitment to the Pioneer baseball program," William Paterson Director of Athletics Sabrina Grant said. "He will serve as a great role model for our student-athletes, and we look forward to the continued success of our baseball program under Mike's leadership."
A member of the New Jersey State Baseball Coaches Association Executive Committee and the Northeast's coach at the 2004-06 Senior State All-Star Games, Lauterhahn has worked as a William Paterson assistant coach during the fall season since 2000, and as a staff member for the Joe Wladyka Camps since 2001. He has taught history at Rutherford High School since 2004, and previously served as a social studies teacher at Wallington Junior/Senior High School (2001-2004) and as a fifth-grade teacher at Frank W. Gavlak School in Wallington (1996-2001).
"I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to return to William Paterson as the head baseball coach," Lauterhahn said. "Based on what Coach Albies accomplished during his 33 seasons and the tradition of excellence he established, I could not ask for a better situation. The tradition associated with William Paterson baseball is very important, not just for me personally, but for my extended family as well. I grew up in the program, and it is extremely important to me that we maintain that connection to our past, as well as work hard to take the program to the next level nationally. Reaching those goals will be my responsibility, and I am anxious and excited to get started."
An all-New Jersey Athletic Conference outfielder for the Pioneers after transferring from Rutgers-Newark, Lauterhahn helped lead William Paterson to a 56-24 two-year record (1993-94), the 1993 NJAC title and a berth in that year's NCAA Tournament. Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1994, he spent two years in the Cubs' farm system before returning to William Paterson to finish his studies. Lauterhahn currently stands tied for eighth in hit by pitches (14) and tied for 10 th in triples (nine) on the William Paterson career charts, and tied for second in hit by pitches (12, 1993), tied for third in triples (eight, 1993) and tied for seventh in runs scored (55, 1993) on the single-season lists. In addition to his exploits as a member of the William Paterson baseball team, Lauterhahn also was a two-year starting guard for the Pioneer basketball team (1992-93, 1993-94), and his 15 assists against Richard Stockton (2/20/93) remain tied for the best single-game total in program history.
A 1997 graduate of William Paterson with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and history, Lauterhahn resides in Carlstadt with his wife, Lucia, and their 20-month old son, Sean. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame of his alma mater, Wallington High School, after earning all-area, all-conference and all-county honors in basketball, and all-conference laurels in baseball.

The College of New Jersey's baseball player, senior catcher Gerard Haran has signed with St. George RoadRunners of the Golden Baseball League.
Haran was tapped for the 2007 ABCA All-America First Team this past season, marking his third straight honor as a first team pick. Last season, Haran was named the 2006 ABCA NCAA Division III National Player of the Year at catcher. In addition to his honors this season, he was named to the 2007 ABCA Mid-Atlantic Regional First Team after also earning 2007 All-State First Team honors from the NJCBA at catcher after another impressive season. Also named the NJAC's Player of the Year in both 2006 and 2007, he finished his 2007 season with a .327 average, while leading the Lions with his 53 RBI's, 13 doubles, 14 homeruns and .661 slugging percentage. On his career, he added his name to the record book having broken the marks for most doubles (58), most home runs (49), most RBI's (215), and most runs scored (184), while ranking No. 2 in games played (166), and third with 226 hits. He leaves TCNJ having become the program's first and only three-time baseball All-American.
The Golden Baseball League, presented by Safeway, Inc., is dedicated to bringing professional independent baseball back to California, Nevada and Arizona. Within five to seven years, the Golden Baseball League will establish a 10-12 team league of minor league baseball teams throughout California, Southern Oregon, Western Arizona, and Northern Mexico.
The League will play in a combination of City and University owned stadiums and work collaboratively to market professional baseball in each of its communities.

Nice story about a great man.
I was an athlete at NJCU and worked for Larry Schiner at NJCU. He truly respected and cared for the well being of each student athlete. After my years at NJCU we have stayed in touch, and whenever I attend a NJCU event he comes over and talks to me. He will be missed by many. I wish him nothing but the best in his retirement.
