I heard through a good friend of a friend that Loras grad' Brock Hall, played LB and a little RB for Loras might be suiting up for the Chicago Rush next February.  My nephew is great friends with one of Hall's hometown friends and my nephew was informed that Hall turned in a great workout for their scouts and they've began talking contract terms but Hall was undecided as he didn't really care to keep playing ... if such is the case then I think Hall is crazy!!!!  On a different note, congrats to all the winners today!  Way to go KoHawks, Cornell turned in a good performance today it sounds like, sounds like a few key mistakes was the difference for the Dutch and Rams ... Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Was this on a slow pitch softball message board?
I don't know of too much "non-ingame" smack talk that I've heard. Loras and Luther used to be some of the worst talkers and could never back it up when I was playing. Not that they can now either, I just don't know if they still talk as much as they used to.
UIU was known for diarrhea of the mouth as well.
UD talked for about the first series and by then the game was over.

Wartburg was never much for trash talking ... they just had the dirtiest o-line I've ever played against ... Luther ALWAYS ran their mouths regardless of the score, especially some of their o-linemen.  I never noticed much trash talking coming from Loras; the only guy who would get really fired up for them was Hall ... he was the only one on that team you didn't want to get fired up but what can ya do ...

As for what I know about next season concerning Coe and Loras (I have family at both schools)

Coe - returns quite a bit, defense will be one of the tops in the leage if not thee top ... offense will spread the ball around and keep things two dimensional

Loras - uugghh ... no QB at all!!!!  (not that they had one last year)  Defense will be average like every other year ... loss of Hall will kill the team ... His back up last year was very weak ... #24 (vesely) i believe his name was ...

In case anyone was curious about UD listing Jermar Jackson at 5'10" he said on the Aztec Bowl preview show that I listened to this morning that he is 5'8" and is hopefull some pro team will at least give him a shot at playing  QB but doubts they will because of his height.

With him admitting to being 2 inches shorter than is listed in the press guide it makes you wonder how much fudging goes on with players height and weight.

Does he actually have a chance to make an NFL roster.  I know he was good but did I miss something.  Is this kid an NFL type talent?

I dont think you missed anything  ??? He was definitely good for D3, but lets get serious.  The only IIAC guy I know of getting any NFL attention was Brock Hall at Loras but who knows whats going on with that since his season was cut short.... where are all the Loras people on here  >:(   fill us in!

This is to all the Loras fan, I talked to a few of the Coe coaches afterwards and they told me Hall had a Falcons scout at their Wartburg game .... can anyone from Loras speculate more into this .... Also, how much did that effect the team not having him in their lineup?

Also, whats the best way to get to Pella from Madison ... Think this is a road trip worth making! ;D

Congrats to the KoHawks on a GREAT win this weekend!

I'm not quite ready to declare UD the newest IIAC team of destiny.  With losses looming in games against Coe, Central and Luther, I see them limping home with a mediocre 4-4 conference record.  Luther on the other hand has had a meat grinder schedule with three respectable losses to highly rated teams.  As they begin to get everyone healthy the Norse may well run the board from here on out.

As much as I would love to jump on board with this line of thought Warthog, I feel like I will know a lot more after Saturday and next Saturday.  The Loras game is always tough between the two teams and Luther hasn't beaten B.V. since Jimmy Carter was in the White House (or so it seems ::)).  There are a lot of teams in the conference capable of beating teams on any given weekend, but how many are actually capable of going on a consistent run?  A healthy, productive Sherden and a healthy, productive QB will help a lot this weekend and going forward.

I keep hearing how Loras is so banged up.  Who isn't playing for the Duhawks?  The box score from the Simpson game showed the usual RBs having played and having played very well, at least from what one can tell from a box score.  The Duhawk LBs are also sounding like they are playing well as usual.

I checked out the box score and saw that McGrew ??? had limited action and Andrews, listed as FB got most of the snaps ... and I saw Brock Hall even had 5 carries ... whats the deal with this ??? Can anyone from Loras add some insight into tomorrows game and just how banged up the DuHawks are?  and maybe why their all american LB is taking snaps at rb ???

Here's my thoughts for the week, just wanted to see how everyone responded.

Central over BV - 30-7 - Central gets the running game going again and uses the pass accordingly.  The BV offense just won't be able to get started

Loras over Simpson - 24- 10 -  Loras is looking to prove they're for real after the heartbreaker against Central.  Simpson is still rather young and I think Loras will exploit that.

Luther over Cornell - 31-17 - I think Luther is able to right the ship with this one.  Cornell has to show me something.  I see a big day for Sherden

Wartburg over Dubuque - 27 - 17 - My game of the week.  I think Wartburg establishes the run early and exploits the Spartans with the play action pass.

I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say.  Best of luck to all this week and I hope everyone remains injury free!

Saw the power index and thought i'd throw in my opinions.

1.  Wartburg - sounds like both the O and D are clicking

2.  Central - Yes Schurring was out, but Loras really shut down their offense today

3,4,5 - Coe, Loras, Dubuque - really a crap shoot between these three.  You never know what you'll get from Loras and Dubuque.  Coe is Coe and they usually show up week in and week out

6,7 - BVU and Simpson- BV needs to get the offense moving and Simpson seems to be working out a few kinks still

8 -  Cornell - Very dangerous as always but they need to show me something before I bump them up

Whats the word on the injuries for Central?  I heard Hall from Loras sat out a majority of the game today ... what's the story there?  Any other injury news from the other schools?

Congrats to all the winners this week and I hope everyone came out injury free!

MNBeev...

I hear you, but you lack 1st hand experience on watching the game the Rams played today.  They moved with impunity for the most part.  Again, to Loras' credit, they did what they needed to do and capitalized...hats off them.  But, in my opinion, this was Cornell's game to win...or lose.  They had their way with Loras' D.  Cornell's D work their collective a$es off but Mr. McGrew had a great game.

Loras supposedly was credentialed having beaten St. Thomas and taking the Peacocks to the mat.

Loras was not the better team...it was at best a toss up, with TO's being the determining factor.   IF Cornell takes better care of the ball, AND capitalizes on an opportunity in the first half and Loras is 0-1.  These are attainable, correctable issues.

There was also a TD saving play when Cornell's Freshman QB stepped in for series and was a lunging tackle from a 55+ yard scramble for a TD.  Loras was on the edge of defeat all day.  They did not act on the sideline like a team that was in control of the game.  I was there.

The Rams didn't protect the ball and didn't capitalize and That, however, is why the Rams are 0-1.  They will kick the (expletive deleted) out of Luther in two weeks.  I think Cornell beats Simpson.  Your Beavers are at risk as are the Kohawks.  Your BVD will be a challlenge.  I think the Kohawks are overrated.

My opinion.

And with all due respect, you are entitled to yours...

I was also in MT. Vernon this weekend and just wanted to toss in my two cents.  First off helluva a hard fought game for both sides.  First off, the Rams will have a hard time winning a conference game if they don't protect the ball as was the difference today.  The Loras D didn't really come to play but they got it done.  Brock Hall picked off a pass and took it 35 yds. to the house and that took the wind out of the Cornell sail.

Taking nothing away from Loras but in the past they haven't had the greatest rushing attack and they ran all over Cornell.  The Loras rb's saw many plays where they weren't touched until they reached the Cornell LB's who also miss many tackles which led to the big runs for Loras.

You talk about how how Loras beat St. Thomas and played UIU.  I honestly think this was the difference maker as Cornell decided to go with two weak non-conference teams and just didn't look ready to play when the game was close late in the second half.

Just my two cents, both teams worked their backsides off.  Great way to start off Iowa Conference play!

Rushing - Schuring .... obviously lol

Passing wise I think I have to go with Jermar Jackson from UD as he has McIntosh to throw the ball to, one heck of a weapon

Receiving - McIntosh

Defensively - I like Hall from Loras, I think he's the most dominant of the LB's in the conference

ONLY A FEW MORE WEEKS!

Was doin' some lookin' around on-line and found some info I thought you Loras fans would find interesting.  Looks like your LB Brock Hall has made it to the list of NFL prospects for next year.  Looking forward to seeing the Coe vs. Loras match up after what happened last year!  Heck of a game!  There's also a few more D3 players who made the list as well.  Its nice to see some small school men receiving looks from the highest level!   ;D

Is it September yet?!?! ::)

I was hoping we could maybe talk about some football so I'll see what I can do to get some conversation started since we're less than a half year until next season!

I'm doing a little preseason award thing here; please chime in!

Conference Champ:  I like Wartburg for some reason  ???

Surprise Team of the Year:  Loras College

Disappointment of the year:  Luther

Offensive player of the year:  Vance Schurring

Defensive Player of the Year:  Brock Hall

Special Teams Player:  Neil Suckow

Coach of the year:  I'm thinking Osterberger for some reason

Looking at this I think I've gone crazy!! lol!  Hope you all are having a solid offseason!   ;D

I was wondering the same in regards to Loras ... Other than Brock Hall what do they return?  He was basically their team last year .... Any input would be appreciated!

First off, I want to congratulate the U of Dbq and Duante Peterson for making it to NFL Europe . . . Quite an accomplishment, I think that really says something for the level of athleticism they have @ that school . . . Also, can anybody direct me as where to go in regards to seeing a release of this years Don Hansen's All Region Teams .... Any help would be greatly appreciated ...... also, if anyone can speed up these next 6 or 7 months that would be greatly appreciated also ... good day to all

The guys I mentioned (Brock Hall and Ashton Northern) were both nominated for all region by their respective schools.  I'm aware that the region has some very tough competition at the runningback and linebacker levels, but looking at the numbers, both of these guys were more than deserving.

Northern was the conference leader in all purpose yards.  He was 4 yards shy of being the leading rusher (which means he was second  ;) ), with about 37 less carries than the conference leader.  I feel not getting the ball near the end zone really hurt his cause

Hall was third in the conference in tackles, and right around 15th in the Nation in tackles, also a league leader in sacks and had the most for all LB's if i recall.  He also ranked up near the top with tackles for loss too.  I did some research and some of the LB's that received all-region had nowhere near the numbers he did.  I strongly feel if Hall was on a top team in the conference he would be receiving many many more accolades  than what he has so far.

Just my two cents .... if ya' disagree, well ... I understand ...  Hope the holiday season is treatin' ya'll well  8)

Very surprised with the all region teams.  Congrats to those from the IIAC that made it, as they were all more than deserving.

What I can't figure out is how Northern couldn't make it ...... I feel he definitely had the numbers.

Also how does Brock Hall from Loras not make it?? He is arguably the best LB in the conference and I know he is one of the best in the regionl .....

There were also a few others i couldn't figure out ......
