Coach Sheehan is a great coach, young motivated and innovative.  I cant wait to see how he handles being the Head coach for the first time!  I was a BW Yellow Jacket, so Im already cheering for the Jackets, might as well add another set of jackets to the group to cheer for!

Obviously with anyone's radio broadcast its going to be jaded one way or another, its hard to judge what is real or not, the BW announcers were very confident it was an obvious call that should've been made.  He even said he made contact with the receiver while the QB still had the ball.  If that was really the case than I would say it should've been called, or he could've been emphasizing the situation some to get his point across (most likely, otherwise if that is true, someone needs to fire those refs).  I dont see the game on my listings for STO so I dont know if its on everywhere or not but I hope it is I want to catch that one.  Probably was an entertaining game to watch.

well it sounds like another great battle with BW ending up just short.  congrats Mount, Maybe the voters will get BW in the playoffs even with an 8-2 record (hoping they beat JCU next week of course) so we have another rep from the OAC.

Didnt see the end, but the BW radio broadcast was very upset saying that it was pass interference on the last play.  Anyone see it?

Good luck to mount and onu in the playoffs.  Hopefully one of you two can bring the championship back to t he oac again.  I'm happier with the 7-3 record this season but it's still mediocre.  Hopefully we build on it for next year.  this probably saved snell from people calling for his head for awhile.

Sad news from Muskingum that I stumbled onto on ESPN.com...

Musky softball coach passes away

She was the winningest coach in D-III softball history.

The Musky community, OAC and NCAA lost a good one today.

I dated a girl from musky when I was in college...the main reason she went there to school instead of bw was that coach. I heard she was a wonderful person who treated her players very well. Sorry to hear about her passing.

Wait.......B-W players have a locker in the visitors locker room????

How is that possible, and what does that mean?

BW's locker rooms are for both the varsity and the JV. it is the visitors locker when we are playing someone, but during the week it belongs to the JV team.  This isnt the first time things have been stolen from the lockers.  It was a constant problem when I was in school due with high school teams using both varsity and jv locker rooms.  But usually there are a few sophomores and freshman who dress varsity that are in that JV room that need to clear out before the visitors show up.

Im sure that LK will take care of it if he finds out about it.  I also heard from some people outside the locker room during the game that apparently someone left their game plan behind in the locker room and Mount was using it during the game.  Of course that is a huge mistake on BW's part if true.  We were very diligent when I was there to make sure lockers were locked and nothing was left behind.  Hopefully that doesnt happen again.

I am not real concerned about the play book anyways, you  need to perform on the field no matter what the other team knows about you.  But I hate hearing about people breaking into lockers.  Mount is a class program, but that doesnt mean that its impossible for someone on the team to do something wrong.

It was a great game for the whole first half, BW played aggressive had some big hits, I was happy with that half.  Second Half they left their energy and effort in the locker room, too bad could've been a good one for the ages.  Mount is just a machine!  You gotta love watching them work.  Cecil is on another level for sure, hope he gets his chance at the pro's.

I checked the website out, that is a good looking stadium!  wish they had that back in 01.  Good for them though, its a great feeling Im sure to have your own field instead of sharing.

I at least like the fact that people are talking about this as a possible "game" for once.  like others have said, BW usually gives a good fight which in the end means nothing if you dont win of course.  I can at least say my freshman team beat Mount in Berea back in 99 on a last minute drive for a 27-26 win (i think that was the score?).  We thought we were going to repeat that when most of us (other than the smart 5 year guys like myself!!! hahaha!  God I loved college...) were seniors but came up short 28-21.

Ill be at the game, come find a tailgate either at the berea parking lot or the jacket backers tent right outside the side gate for some food and beverages if you are at the game!  Ill be bouncing back and forth at both.

Go Jackets!!!!!

Oh yeah, we had to use the pool at Emory & Henry and the weight room at Guilford. I got some D3 stories ...

Baldwin-Wallace seems like an awesome place to play. The sunken-in field surrounded by the concrete walls is like a true stadium. Haven't they fixed the turf up?

I asked Mount about their largest crowds and none had touched 9,000; I wonder if that was only taking home crowds into consideration.
Yes we finally got new turf a few years ago, the new field grass style, and the stadium has been painted over, new track as well its really sharp looking now.  If i can figure out how to post a photo on here Ill do that, or maybe Pat can do that...
In regards to the crowds, I KNOW that in 98 that Mount game at BW, it was standing room only and the stadium seats 8000 according to the stats.  I dont know if they registered a number for that game or not, but it was nearly 10,000 for sure.  there was no room to move anywhere there.  no less than 9,000 at minimum.  I also thought that in 2003 when Mount was ranked #1 and we were ranked #3  i thought they said in the game notes that there was 9400 or so there.  But i dont know how to verify that.

I want to know what people think of the MIAA. I've been to Albion and there's nothing great about that stadium or the crowd noise. At Alma, it gets extremely loud thanks to strong support of the public area and of course the Kiltie Marching Band, but there's nothing special about the stadium...
We played Adrian my sophomore year, but I dont really know much about their school, we played at a High School stadium?  I dont know if they always did or if it was just because they had construction going on or what, it was the first game of the season so that may have impacted it.

universities/colleges.  Interesting.  I'm sure some of their recruting takes away from B-W and other schools in the area.  Their coaching staff has several coaches from Mercyhurst and B-W backgrounds, including their head coach McNellie.

At both schools, Lake Erie and Notre Dame, there are good BW people.  the HC at ND is our former Defensive Coordinator, he has former players on his staff as well, and same with lake erie with Jerry Hazzard and Ian Formaz....interestingly enough they are all from our playoff team in 03 who i know personally and i know they are good football people, so they will be good programs at some point if not already now.

That being said, if i was a HS student, and I had the opportunity to attend Lake Erie College or Notre Dame who has 3 years football experience or BW or JCU with over 100 years experience and tradition, Id pick either BW or JCU, but thats just me!

I think the economic realities of today, are starting to wreak havoc with the idea you should work two-three years, spending that kind of money for a shot at playing one or two years for Mount.

I would agree with that completely.  Does anyone know what the tuition is for Lake Erie College and Notre Dame College?  I have heard some parents say they are getting great offers to play at these schools which is probably taking kids from JCU and BWC away.  I know they are going to be D2 schools (which I dont agree with but for another conversation) but are they already offering scholarships?

Or are the quality of the helmets lacking?

http://video.nytimes.com/video/2010/9/20/continuous/1248069210477/timescast.html

That was talking about the "Standard" of helmets hasn't changed.  But Riddell and Shutt have done extensive research, testing and redesign on their helmets to help lessen the chances of injury.  The video also talks about "glaring" problems with the reconditioning process with helmets being returned with missing pads or facemasks not attached properly.  Any coach worth his job will check for those types of issues prior to handing out the equipment.

I think one of the major issues is that players think they are more protected now and are using their heads improperly when blocking/tackling.  Proper technique is not enforced enough and too many young players tackle with their heads down or think they can be more reckless (ie. spearing or using their helmets as a weapon) when playing.

You gotta teach them to keep their heads up and "See what you hit".
I agree, I say it everytime I watch a db in either the NFL, College or H.S. dive at someones feet or tries for the big hit instead of wrapping up like they should.  Seems like good tackling has dissapeared for most.
