Your biggest rival is Hampden-Sydney not Hampton Sydney !!!!!!

I heard the QB you asked about got beat out during Summer practice. Don't know if that is right or wrong.

Looking forward to the Bridgewater vs. HSC game this weekend. Should be a good one. Bridgewater fans tailgating anywhere on campus ? If so, I'd like to stop by to say hello.

tigerfanalso,

Hey there. I haven't been on this in awhile but we are setting up on the patio at the Kirby Field House. I should be there by 9 setting up. Come on by and say hello. I'll probably be the one by the grill. May both teams play well. GO EAGLES!

The Eagles are one player position away from winning ODAC Championships again. Which one I won't mention, you guys figure it out.  :o

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Homecoming!

Last year I attended the game with Hampden Sydney at Jopson Field.
We were down 30-6 going into the 4th and Vince Reese sparked us at QB with 4 TD's in a 37-34 loss.
He went 2 of 3 yesterday passing for 21 yards and had 2 carries for 5 yards but we waited too long to insert him into the game to see if he could bring us back again.
Hagan is still doing a better job than last year because he is no longer the most sacked QB in the nation but if it were me I would have Vince and Hagan compete in practice for the starting QB job vs Guilford. Stay tuned.

The DNR article had a quote from a HSC player that said "We were calling plays before they ran them," the junior said with a grin."  I think our offensive play calling has gotten too vanilla. If the other team could study films and pick out what we were going to run before we ran it there is a problem upstairs too. Maybe we are one coach away from an ODAC Championship.

One of the things that the BC teams of late seem to lack is attitude. In the past it was never a question if we would win or not it was we will win and they found ways to do so. There was a confidence on the team that went all the way through from the coaching staff to the players. You could see it in the eyes of the players when they came out.

Eagles, find the spirit again! Seniors, you have two games left. Show the ones behind you how to go out winners. Next year's legacy starts now.

GO EAGLES!!!

On a sad note....Adrian Roberts, a 3 sport (football, basketball, & baseball) athlete at Randolph-Henry HS was killed in a car accident Monday afternoon. A Governors School student and apparently just a good kid.  Dick Bankston (Brad's father) was the long time baseball coach and athletic director there. I played legion ball under Coach Bankston over 25 years ago and am a better man for it. Even though he retired several years ago, I'm am sure his influence is still greatly felt there. I'd be willing to bet that this kid was positivley affected by that influence. I also know this is a tough blow to a rural community like Charlotte County. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire R-H family.

Adrian was an excellent kid. My son played against R-H in football this year and this kid was a great QB.  He will be greatly missed by the communities around Charlotte County. I go to church with some of his teammates and they and the parents cannot talk highly enough about him or his mom.  The AD & Football coach at Randolph Henry is a BC grad-Joe Freeland. A very upstanding individual also. They run a very classy program there.

Hasanova,

Wow, what a tragedy. Yes everybody is lucky to be OK. How are the firefighters? We had similar incident in Farmville when Longwood caught fire.

I've got a son whose a senior here in Farmville and I know he'd be crushed if that happened here. Hopefully they can bring in some trailers to serve as temp classrooms.

Please keep us informed if there is anything we can do to help. Our thoughts and prayers are with ya'll.

This is from the ODAC website:

http://www.odaconline.com/purpose.htm
"Adopted June 1999

OUR PURPOSE: Athletic opportunities at the Division III level provide positive educational outcomes and growth for participants, as well as other valuable benefits for member institutions and communities. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) exists to provide a framework for realizing these opportunities through athletic competition, guided by our commitment to shared values and bounded by the educational missions and institutional identities of the respective members. Together, member institutions strive to foster a climate of excellence and integrity in the conduct of their athletic programs. "

I guess they may want to amend that last sentence. What a shame.

Let me ask this, does anybody really expect the ODAC to do something at this point?

I'd be very surprised.

Now with the ODAC letting this slide does this open up the rest of the schools to get a one time pass for a similar incident?

I am concerned that a bad precedent is being set here.

Is Highfill prone to injury? When I've seen him play all out he looks good. I didn't think the 2nd team QB is all that bad. If I recall Highfill didn't get much playing time last year until Lewis got hurt and he did a good job.

I am very hopeful that the playbook is opened up this weekend. After W&L we have two games on the road. Is it possible that for the first time this century we could finish 5-5?

Come on EAGLES, we your fans believe in you. You've got to find it within you to believe!

GO EAGLES!!!

I felt like I was watching a replay of the Bears/Cards game from Monday night. It just seemed that BC was playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

We have the talent, we have the coaches, we just got to find our hearts for the game.

It's time to breakout the "Rocky III" movie. Let's get our swagger back.

GO EAGLES!!

Thanks for clearing that up Pat.

Does it seem that we underestimated GC? I heard it said that GC had 10 days to prepare for us, so what did we do to prepare for them?

Hang in there EAGLES!! Let's come back harder the next 4 weeks. Ya'll can do it!

Congrates to GC though.

If we win the rest why wouldn't we still be ODAC champs?
