I wanna see Hammy go 7-1 next year, with the only loss to 8-0 Trinity.

I've always pulled for the Continentals.

I was part of the Trinity team (2002 season) that seemed like it was NEVER going to beat Midd, Amherst or Williams.  Funny how a few years changes things.  We beast Midd and Amherst that year, then the 2003 season saw Williams fall.

Prior to those games, it felt like clockwork losing to those teams.

NESCAC1:

Wes will never really get that credit in my mind until they bring in a bigger, stronger line.  Granted, I've lost touch with many of the trends in the NESCAC since its hard to follow this level of football closely (easier to notice a team like West Va. struggling while Colorado having an impressive start because thats whats on TV), but my impression is that they're still illogically pass-happy and smallish along the lines.  Please advise if this is no longer the case.

Dating back to when I was at TRIN, Wes had a quality RB (Young Douglass I believe) and he was getting like 5+ yards per carry against an otherwise-very-solid TRIN defense, and they gave him the ball like 8 times all game!

I'm picking:

Tufts to beat the spread vs. Hamilton

Middlebury to win but Bowdoin to cover a rather large spread (first game after all)

Amherst to cover spread (Hamilton's D is solid, but unless they put points on the board and eat up SOME game clock, they will wear down badly)

Trinity to cover over Bates (Bates hasn't shown me the upward trend some of the other traditionally weaker programs have, like Hamilton getting much tougher on D, Caputi's program finally sinking in, etc.)

Williams to win but Colby to cover ... this might be the upset of the week, as Colby catches WILL in the first game with the notoriously-short NESCAC preseason being the only immersion period for WILL's new QB

I'd like to see Hamilton have a year when they are the NESCAC "upstart" program that goes 5-3 or 6-2.

I'm always pulling for the underdog (except against Trinity)!

Colby and Bowdoin, playing two of the top teams (Midd and Williams), probalby have the best chance at pulling the upset.

Tarp:

Rooting for Tufts will be fun for you.  They're a team thats always competent and they give the traditional "top-3" a run for their money most years.

Tarpondad, respectfully, I'd suggest taking comments about jerseys as a joke.  Trinity posters are also very sensitive to "school-bashing"!!! (because when we win, we are accused of letting in idiots, but no one complains when we are good little boys and go 6-2 or 5-3 ... so we're always a few points each season [a missed extra point, a turnover, etc.] away from being called idiots and cheaters).

Anyway, Trin 8-0, on the subject of unis, what's the deal with Trinity's helmet?  I'm all for tradition and all, but I LOVED the "T" we had on the dark blue helmets in lieu of the Bantam on the yellow helmet.  What are your thoughts?

Congrats Trin 8-0 ... will see you at Trinity this weekend.

Would you prefer that I bring some wine coolers or a 6-pack of Zima to celebrate?

If you want action, someone has to mock Trinity's educational standards, haha.  No, please don't!

Haha, I noticed those fat guys flopping on the ground when I was watching the video with my brother.

There is one guy in particular who starts to get up, then flops on the ground like a turd.

With a play that long at the end of the game, however, I'm not sure that Glen Dorsey would be jumping over people, darting around and tackling people.  He'd probably plop down like a turd as well.  These 'lil guys are probably in better cardiovascular shape, especially at that very high level of d-3 ball.

My buddy Pat from the Marines told me they even hit you up for equipment lost in Iraq and Afghanistan (as if you were on a NESCAC football team and never turned in your helmet, shoulder pads, etc., after your last game senior year).

After much ado and after it seemed very likely he'd have to pay, a staff seargent got him off the hook, as some of his equipment fell off a truck that was attacked and partially damaged by an I.E.D.

At least they were giving him a token amount that barely cut into the total cost of his attendance at a local Community College!

I agree with all posters, and we HAVE TO do more for these people!

I gotta say Lucey's final stats are extremely impressive.  At first, I couldn't imagine he could win offensive POY because the hole that was dug (statistically) after the first two games was very deep.

Somehow, he ended up with very good numbers (sans the 12 INTs).  Give a mulligan for a few of them (someone here said a few "bounced off receivers' hands), and the stats look even better: approx 240 passing ypg; 16 TDs (factoring in that they were probably winning a bunch of games early, and the team probably "called off the dogs").

Congrats.

Congrats to Midd.  Having been a part of Trinity's (not-so) recent turnaround into a league power at its earliest stages, I know that being the first group to bring your school to a league title -- or even to new heights it hasn't been to in years -- is a bigger honor than merely continuing that type of success.

Both types of accomplishments are truly something to be proud of (continuing a tradition and building one), but there is definitely something special about being there at the beginning.

That being said, hopefully next year Trinity can make it a one-year title run for Midd, but heres to hoping Midd will continue to hold its place at the table of the league powers, having a legit shot at winning each year.

There are only eight games, so it will be nice for the top teams to have to go into all eight knowing that they are in for a battle, rather than playing three tough games per year, and that if they falter, more than two other teams will be in the mix for the league title.
