Good to see BC handled the situation well. Does this mean the end of Youngbloods career. Of course supreme talent can make a mediocre coach look good (see Bill Self). The man is a nice guy, but he actuall did have the talent to get things done during his tenure and faile to do so. Yes the aadministration was tough on allowing those borderline guys to get in but lets look at those guys that did get in. Henry Grant(3X All conference and POY), Marques Flowers (2X all conference), Matt Entwistle(1X all conference) John Allen, Nick Hendry (1X all conference) and of course the best player in the schools history Josh Hinz. 33-59 in the Josh Hinz era is amazing. only 23 conference wins in 4 yrs with Hinz. This is not a knock on Hinz because he's a terrific player but if you have the best player in your schools history you've got to average more than 5 conf wins per season. Hinz never finished over .500. 10-13,4-19,8-15, and 11-12. As a BC alum and former player a change looks to be the best thing for the program.

I hope that tough schedule does pay of for BC however as in years past it probably won't. With a team that lost the best player in the schools history and that currently doesn't have a veteran group sort to speak, that schedule is idiotic. That gives them no confidence. The win vs SNC was a must. They were looking at 9 straight losses if they would not of won that game. On this current road trip this week BC is looking at at least 2 losses (LU, GC) They must win the monmouth game. Youngblood usually does a good job vs GC so that game is a possibility. The last 5 games are brutal (@LFC, @IC, @SNC, LU, @RC) They'd have to win at least 2 of those games to get into the tourney. With a watered down league this year I'd like to believe BC could sneak in but the smart money is on the typical 5th or 6th place finish. 70-142 in the Blood era. Is that right? That's a .330 winning percentage with the likes of grant, flowers, Entwistle, Hendry and the aformentioned Hinz. All MWC all conference picks.

LU vs IWU. 3 all americans- daukas, ameeliovich and braier. The question is where will the game be played. IWU usually travels in loads however. Did anyone catch Duke-UNC tonight? Tyler Hansbrough is a man. I'm a big Duke fan, but the Blue devils have been exposed. Unathletic, flappable, vunerable defensively. Really just a 2 and a half man team.

Anyone know when the all region and all american list come out? Braier should be first team and Hinz 3rd or 4th. The 50-36 game vs grinnell gave Hinz enough press and recognition(ESPN bottom line) to get him a spot. He AND THE TEAM had a better year this year compared to last year(11 wins this year and 8 last year, 19 & 9 for Hinz last year, 21 & 12 this year) and last year Hinz was an all american. It would be a travesty if he wasn't. Numerous school records as well, including all time leading scorer in school's historic basketball history.

Fleezy, U r right on about the BC situation. That is the case at most D3 programs, but Beloit is definitely a special situation. The new AD is making steps to get BC to respectibility as an athletics program. Over the past 2 years, BC has appointed a new soccer, volleyball, football and women's basketball coach. Chandler has also instituted halftime giveaways at bball games and other small things to create some kind of energy into athletics. By 2010 it is my feeling that BC will have a new, positive, winning culture around all programs.
Flowers- u are right on with the top MWC players of last 5-6 years. I do feel Hinz is a definite top 10 pick. There have been only 2-3 guys if that who can do the things he can on the court. He did improve his defense as well. (this year he averaged nearly 1 boards a game). He was never a bad defender, but for the team's sake he had to use so much energy on offense.
I agree with about j. allen. Whenhe came back, I actually though he was better. He had the chance to play with 2 of top 10 post in MWC over the past 7 years. 1 and a half with grant and 2 with hinz. I saw a majority of his games and the problem was that he was never aggressive enough. Allen was one of few guys who could shoot the three, get to the rack and finsh over bigger defenders, or stop on a dime and hit pull up jumpers off the dribble. He was the main scoring threat on the wing, because towns was at point but J Al. played too passive. Maybe he was playing off of hinz too much. Honestly, they could of been a great inside outside duo, but it never materalized like that. What do you think flowers. Did u see any games? BTW How r things in madison at UW?

For the past 5 years BC followers have raved about the teams talent. One thing Youngblood can do is recruit, He's gotten some out of Chicago, Madison, Wis and pretty much most of Wisconsin. In a backwards way, Maybe that could be the problem. Maybe he should recruit average players instead of really good ones like hinz, grant and flowers. Someone pointed out that it was the seniors this season who fouled up in end of game situations. That sounds like a knock on the players eventhough hinz and towns are 7 good basketball players. So the players are the problem looking at things in that fashion. Once again this summer wil be crucial to the program. The Bucs need a Hinz successor to aid Horton, who looks like a player. They also need an athletic 6'1-6'3 wing player who can score on the wing. They haven't had one since flowers. (J Allen was nice, but 5'9) They could also use another kid about 6'2-6'4 who could play on the wing and in the post. That's 3 guys. Administration allowed BC 7 guys last year. They just need 3 for next year. Anybody with any insight on possible BC recruits?? Youngblood is notorious for having plenty of athletes in open gyms in the spring. However those guys always come up a few grades short.

Come on M Flowers. 33-59 the past 4 years. At least 12 losses each year. Dolph Stanley said it. The record speaks for itself. Flowers, do you remember your 2nd to last game of your career at Lawrence. You guys had a chance to win in the latter moments of the game and u didn't get the ball who got it?? Hinz as a freshman. U were the best player in the league but didn't get the ball with the game and a tourney spot on the line. Why is that?? Did u not want the ball?? U should of got it and know u wanted it but it looked like the play was called for Hinz?? WHY??

Maybe BC will turn it around next year but they wasted a great opportunity to win with talented players. ONLY one winning season in the 9 year Youngblood reign. Anyone who says BC didn't have the talent is on crack. Grant, Vogt, Entwistle, Flowers, Chapman, Shorter, Kelly, Town, Fieck, Hendry and arguably the best player in the schools history - Hinz. That program has had sufficient talent to be contenders the past 7 years. There is one constant. COACHING. The Hinz era reads 33-59. 10-13, 4-19, 8-15, 11-12. DOUBLE DIGIT LOSSES EACH SEASON. Has anyone though about that. That's undeniably pathetic. As someone stated earlier, Hinz is and never has been a selfish player. He's not a team cancer guy, which happens sometimes on teams with dominant scorers. So how the heck can Hinz, Towns(a good player as well) and Skelton go 33-59. I don't have the numbers on me but BC has lost a ton of games the past five years by 5 points or less. Sure players have to make plays, but the coach has to put them in a position to succeed, and I'm not sure Youngblood has done that. As a BC alum, it disgraces me to no end to see the Bucs lose, lose and lose.
As for the Braier- Hinz debate. What does Braier do if he's with BC the past four years and Hinz is with LU. Hinz would win a couple conference titles and Braier struggles as badly as Hinz to get BC to tourney.

PLEASE STOP ME IF YOU'VE HEARD THIS BEFORE. ANOTHER TALENTED BELOIT TEAM FALLS SHORT OF THE PLAYOFFS. The seasons not over yet, but it basically is. Anyone who was at the game please let us know what happened. 17 turnovers seemed costly, but the stats were pretty even in other catergories. How is J Hinz the only BC player to take more than 6 shots. 6-8 with CARROLL coming in Wednesday. All the individual records for Hinz, BUT NO CONFERENCE TOURNEY APPEARANCES. If he had just 1 conference title, his career would look much better. Losing hasn't entirely been Hinz's fault. 32 wins in the Hinz, towns era. unfortunate for 2 quality guys
