I don't think they're going to lose at all but if they lost two games in the OAC I still think they'd have a shot at making the playoffs.  With the committee having the ability to select a team based on previous championship  performance they'd be a solid selection and I'd have to think that come hell or high water the committee is going to find a way to have Mount Union in the playoffs.

It is an interesting question, BUT, the Raiders record in the OAC for the last 19 years is 169-2. It may be a more relevant question a few years from now. :)

If you add the three playoff wins against OAC opponents 172-2. Both losses were at home. We lost to MUC six times in four years.

Pat, why wasn't Jamal Robertson (Ohio Northern) on the All decade team.

When an 18 year old kid or a 20 year old transfer steps onto the campuses for a football visit at Mount and/or WWW, the one thing that gets his attention is the size of the rings on the fingers of the players.  I believe it is a major factor, as all athletes (or I gotta believe a very large percentage) want to flash one of those things at the folks and teammates in the old home town, be it Miami or Mayberry.

While some kid who works his tail off and waits for his shot never gets one. I would not be proud to show off my pine riding ring. Let us all agree Mount's two or in some cases three deep could start just about anywhere.

IMHO, it all started with Ballard when he transfered from Wilmington.

This is the OAC. We expect to win this weekend. We beat North Central last year, and we will beat them this year. 21-14 Polar Bears

Take care of business UMU. Wouldn't it be nice if two OAC teams played for the National Title. "That too, has also happend"

I guess I'm a little confused by what I've been reading on the CCIW board.  When did NCC become such a feared national power?  I understand that the CCIW is a great conference but when did it become better than the OAC?  ONU and NCC have split the last two years and having been on the sidelines or in the press box for both, ONU outplayed them each time.  Now with ONU in the second year of new O/D systems and a senior dominated lineup, no one thinks they can repeat last years performance against a NCC team missing its preseason all american QB and RB from last season... I'm not sure how this happens...

I'm also pretty sick of hearing about the U being down this year on every other board... everyone here knows better than that, inexperienced/unable to "get up" for Marrietta and down on talent are two very different things

Ohno,

Help me understand who said NCC has become a national power? who said the CCIW is better than the OAC? What you have read is that CCIW folks see NCC is playing at a different level than years past. the difference this year is Coach Ponx. He is in his first year as D-Coordinator and they are playing defense at a level I have only seen in Alliance and Whitewater. You correctly point out their offense is down this year and I have said this could be their achilles heel. They have a very good Oline and some excellent skill players on offense but I don't see a lot of playmakers offensively. They don't have breakout speed at RB or WR so if a team matches up with them up front they may struggle to move the ball/score. Defensively they have at least 6 playmakers who can make a difference in a game. Lots of team speed and excellent tackling so far this season.

If the spread is less than 10pts in the result it will likely be because neither team scores more than 10, which I could easily see happening. So the speculation is that NCC appears to be ready to compete with the national powers (UMU/UWW). No one said they are there yet. This is definitely the best defense the CCIW has sent to the playoffs in at least 20 years. Offensively they have to pick up their pale and go to work each Saturday but their defense gives them great opportunities.

The NCAA did by giving them the #1 seed in the region over the defending champions!

Physical or not ONU will have to put points on the board. That will be tough since NCC's new defensive coordinator was my position coach at ONU. He was oline last few years. Ponx's defense playing has been lights out all year long. Two guys have 9.5 sacks They gave up 11 TD'S all season. They take away the run, 605 yards rushing 4 td. 14 is the most they have given up in a game.

My Polar Bears will have to play a disciplined game not turning the ball over, win in the kicking game, and protect Simmons.

Congrats to everyone who earned a playoff berth... Been reading for about six years but have yet to post... ONU alumn and former coach who's just happy to see the p bears in the playoffs

Mount should be cake walking to Salem and Northern got a brutal bracket

I don't think Witt will cause much trouble and I think everyone forgets that ONU handled an NCC team with three or four preseason all americans last year

As for the bears defense, not as much pass rush and attack as in previous years but more of a bend and not break attitude and an extremely deep, talented, experienced, opportunistic secondary

A brutal bracket would include Mount. UWW is a great team but I like the fact that UMU is in the East. ONU should put it on the Red Swarm like we did in '99, 58-24. As you stated, they handled NCC last year even though that means little to nothing. Then it would be the big game against the Warhawks.

UWW is the 5th seed. NCC has a win against a playoff team. Not sure about UWW. Looking forward to seeing Witt come to ONU. I don't think we could have asked for a better draw. Hoping for some interesting spreads from HScoach. Go Polar Bears!

For those that remember our discussion of "all-conference" in the OAC and the subsequent high school selection process and how stupid the NE Buckeye Conference is?  Well the NBC's all-conference team was released and there are five (5) 1st team, one (1) 2nd team and one (honorable mention) QB's in the eight (8) team league......

1st team QB's were from:  Alliance, Carrollton, Canton South, Louisville, Minerva
2nd team = Northwest
3rd team = Marlington

Taking nothing away from the first team guys, because they're all good players, but come on!  7 of 8 teams place their QB's on the all-conference team?  That's just plain stupid.

I'll take the GCL...  ;D

I'll take the GWOC! 3-1 DI 1-0 DII. I doubt any conference  in the state can top that.

I would like to hear what you UMU guys have to say or think about the TJ Lattimore issue. His eligibility is certainly a topic considering he played in a game.
