Do you know at what point in the game they made this comment?  We sit directly next to the band (right below the press box) and I can tell you the band does not play when either team has the ball in play.  I'm not sure what they were referring to?

DarkSide - sounds like by playing the fight song the band was showing their support for the football team win or lose.  The band leads a lot of cheers and makes a lot of noise for the team during the game.  Yes - a lot of people come out to see the football team, but a lot also come to see the band, and they support the team as well.
