Messages - MULEY

youcan'twin22,

You obviously have been watching The Mules for a few years, I would add that When Douglass was a Soph he prevented teams from doubling on Kodi.

Amish,
You are correct, it doesn't matter if they don't get him involved more.
I have seen him take over a couple of games. Ursinus last week 9/105 1 TD, 196 all purpose yards.Kings Point 04 ,5 for 105 with an additional 30 yd td called back and a 35 yarder called back as well , all in the first half. The more they use him,. the better he performs.

Maybe they are concerned about durability after missing almost all of 04 with a serious knee injury The game is on the web and on WMUH 91.7 and on Service Electric Cable Channel 2. I heard it was going to be rainy and cold, not a great day for passing, could work in JHU's favor.

Kvontrout, if you are there, you were right about F&M, they do have a hell of a defense, I was right about their offense, still sputtering. I would like to have seen them without the injuries.

Amish Allstar,
No disrespect to Kodi, great player but he was always the go to guy in a balnced pass/run offense. Douglass is usually only thrown to when the whole stadium knows it will be a pass, the defense can cheat on him and still he delivers.
PS Kodi himself told me that Douglass is a more talented player than he was.

Amish Allstar,

The folks at The Berg consider him one of the most talented all around skill players they have ever had. As mentioned, slightly ahead of Kodi's Senior Year  pace.
Good observation on The F&M Game. None of The Mules had a good game that day .He was wide open many times but they seem to forget him for long periods of time when they decide that they want to try to run.

Yes having a great year after missing all of 04 with an injury. Need to get him the ball more. Big play receiver. 41 yard TD vs Union,71 yd td vs Dickinson, 24 yarder vs ursinus 16 yarder vs GCC.Nice15+ YPR avg on 27 catches with 5 TDs (on a pace with Kodi Shay who had All American Matt Bernardo in the backfield) plus healthy  YPC average as a runner although he has only carried about 10 timeas all year. Now starting  to return punts and kick-offs.Montalto is also a very effective TE., big and athletic and deceptively fast . The Soph QB seems to be doing well also. Leads league in QB effic.Mules lead CC in Pass effic. They have the talent in the passing game So why try to run first?

CCfan4life,

It is easy to miss. Most schools would be hyping him, but The Mules are very low key . I noticed in todays JHU Game notes that they have picked up on him and they have also noticed a few other positive things offensively.  He has scored every week except The F&M game(dropped a tough TD pass at the back of the end zone ). No one has been able to contain him. Should be a great game if The Mules use their weapons.

CCFan4Life. The Mules Have a receiver who is #1 in YPC #2 In Total receiving yards, #2 in overall  CC scoring# 1 in receiver scoring and #5 in CC in all purpose yards.I would call that a weapon.Check again and you will see.

CCfan4Life,
Great analysis. Couldnt agree more. The Mules do have one outstanding weapon that they are not utilizing fully. Check out the indiv stats.

I know you will all pshaw this but take a close look at The Mules passing stats for 6 games and some of their individual receiving, scoring, and all-purpose stats. I have noticed during this season that when they decide to pass especially on 1st and 2nd downs, they are hard to handle. For a couple of series Saturday they passed to run instead of trying to run to open up the pass. They moved right down the field and scored back to back touchdowns on decent drives and then inexplicably went back to their predictable 1st and 2nd down runs.
The Mule defense is good, not great as in the past, but when the offense runs to pass it usually leads to lots of 3 and outs and the D gets tired.

ktroutvon,
No I have not seen either of those teams play and I assume you have not seen Union either. Analysis of play  against common opponents is an accepted method of predicting strength.
I just observed that Union was very impressive against an equally impressive Mule team that nigt ( Mules problems seemed to start after the Union game)while F&M struggled against a down Mule team.
Look, you could be right and maybe I just plain missed some of the strengths of F&M . Let's talk after The U/F&M game and see what we think then OK?

I repeat, I have seen both teams against a common opponent. Union is very good and very consistent.

The F&M /Mule game was very sloppy and undisciplined.Maybe f&M could have played a little better, I won't know til I see that but I have seen The Mules play a whole lot better agaist a far better team....Union.

Although I hope for the CC's sake that F&M wins. I am fairly certain that The F&M team I saw will not be able to stay with Union. Hope so, but don't think so.

CUse Fan,
I saw the Muhlenberg/Union Game and The F&M / Berg game. I am a Berg fan but I am also a former player ( Rowan) and coach and I have to tell you, Union was lucky to get by The Mules ( the onside kick by Berg followed by yet another Mule fumble after taking a 4th Q lead changed momentum. Meanwhile , not to denigrate F&M, but I left the Dips/Mule game feeling that if The Mules had played just a little bit like they palyed against Union, F&M would not have had a chance to win. Union is the best offense i have seen in a while . Good Pass/Run balance, great runner, good QB and Receivers and nice play calling.
Don't be surprised if Union racks up a lot of points on F&M(PS last time I checked CC was 0-5 against The Liberty Conf.)
