Division II Grand Valley State has the longer winning streak.  I think its 40 after their win today.

Mount has made the Final Four 12 years in a row.  Last year they didn't was 1994.

Generally one Rowan DB shut Garcon down in 2005.  Had Orihel not been hurt, Rowan wins.
This is 2007.

Dood... I'm just saying Garcon's good but a good DB can shut him down. I saw it first hand.  Need to keep Kmic in check with the LB's at the same time.

Garcon was shut down pretty well this year by Capital's James Starks.  One thing I think that is different about this year's passing attack is that last year, Garcon was the go to guy and beyond that the receiving corp was not as strong.  So when he was hurt, like in the Fisher game, the Raiders relied on the run, hence Kmic's 371 yards rushing.  This year, when Garcon missed a few games, the passing game did not suffer as much as Brandon Boehm and Bryson Davis have both stepped up.  Davis would be a #1 receiver if it wasn't for Garcon and is also a deep threat.  So even if Ithaca is able to shut down Garcon, the other receivers could step up, something we might not have seen last year.  It's part of what makes the Raiders so dangerous.

Good luck to the Bombers this week, I hope it's a good game, and based on what I've been reading on here about them, and the stats I've seen, I think it will be a good game and a tough test for the Raiders, probably the toughest yet.

If you're a Mount fan and hoping to listen to the game on the web, I would encourage you to listen to WRMU's webcast (www.muc.edu/wrmu).  Nothing against the WICB boys, I'm sure they do a great job, but if you're Mount fan, I'd go with the WRMU webcast.  Pregame show starts at 11:15 am on Saturday.

congrats to MUC back-up kicker and a 47 yard field goal.. he just hammered it...then he misses a shortie later...

raiderpa

That was actually the punter who hit the 47-yard field goal.  I Saw him at the scrimmage booming punts and he if he got enough attempts he could rival BW's punter for best in the league.  The coaches probably felt that since his leg is strong enough they should give him some reps at kicker since he probably won't be punting much this year.

Heidelberg up 24-7 at halftime over Oberlin.

nike,

Wilson was out with a leg injury today, but he is expected to play in two weeks against Otterbein.  Should be interesting to see how playing time is divided between him Daryl Ely and Cameron Rose who is back after missing all of last season with an injury.

Your trying to tell me that Jorris who had one of the best seasons in DIII this year got benched in a 7-7 playoff game for throwing a stare down pick? ..... prolly not buying that one.  I suppose having their backup run for 100+ was all just part of the game plan  ::)

If that kid is healthy he's not sitting on the bench in a 7-7 playoff game.

"Our two quarterbacks, Mike Jorris and Greg Micheli, are doing a great job for us with our style of play.  The flow of the game usually dictates how much we use each quarterback." -Coach Kehres in the conference call prior to this past week's game against Capital.

Coach Kehres isn't afraid to use the two quarterback system and with two excellent quarterbacks who each bring a different skill set to the table, he'll use whoever he thinks will give the Raiders the best chance at winning the game. Saturday that was Micheli, Next Saturday it could be Jorris or it could be Micheli or it could be both.  And while Jorris is a good quarterback, he has struggled at times this season and Micheli has been able to step in and play well hence why Coach Kehres isn't afraid to use both.

Just to sum a few things up...

Rocky Pentello is an amazing QB who will go down in history as the greatest OAC qb to ever touch the pigskin. Mount's QBS are horrible and can not throw and there is no comparison to jorris/new kid to Rocky.

I still have no respect for mount or the fans. As much as I want to see the OAC succeed I can not find it in my heart to cheer for Mount. Their program has gone down hill in the past few years as it is very evident in yet another 1st place stat (Most penalized team in the country)

congrats to all the Cap players and coaches you guys played a hell of a game.

Rocky is no doubt an amazing qb, best ever in the OAC? That's debatable.  They're a plenty of others that could enter that discussion, Arth, Larlham, Ballard and Borchert come to mind.

Now may I ask as to why you don't respect the Mount Union program.  I can understanding not liking them, as they are like the New York Yankees of Division III football.  But how can you not respect them.  After all that Mount has accomplished over the past 15 years, the 8 National Titles, the 15 straight conference titles, I'm sorry but that demands respect.

Believe it or not I can understand your disrespect for Mount fans.  You probably hate them for calling your beloved Rocky old and all the other jokes about him.  You probably hate the fact that they cheer for the team that always beats yours.  But hey I was at the game today and I will say this, Cap fans were louder and got on their feet more than Mount fans.  But perhaps the biggest reason as to why I can understand your disrespect for Mount fans, is that well because you probably feel that they give you no respect.  You know why they don't give you respect, because you don't give respect to them and based on your posts on this board, you seem to be very ignorant and disrespectful to just about everybody other than Cap fans.

As far as your comment on Mount going down hill, that has to be the most ignorant thing you have ever said.  While Mount no doubt is penalized, last time I checked they are still in the semifinals for the 12th straight year.  They can overcome those penalties because that's how good they are.  It is something they have to work on and is their biggest flaw.  And for the record I think if Mount didn't have some of the penalties today they could have won by two touchdowns.

Jorris while good, is no Rocky, it just wasn't his day. With the 2 quarterback system now in place, Coach Kehres will go with the hot hand, today that was Micheli with his legs, which by the way the Cap defense couldn't always stop as he had 116 yards rushing and 2 scores.

With all that off my chest, I want to congratulate Cap on a fine season and Rocky Pentello and all the seniors for great careers.  Rocky is no doubt one of the best to ever play in the OAC and it is a shame to see him end his career with another loss to Mount.  He played his heart out today and I wish him and all the Cap seniors the best of luck in their future endeavors.

and my banter on this dumb post board will have very little outcome in the game.

Just a question, if you think this board is so dumb then why do you post here?  :o

Rocky Pentello is one of the greatest QBs in OAC history.

Hey look a Mount fan saying something "flattering and complimentary" about Rocky.

Why is he one of the best, well his stats back up.  Over 12,000 career passing yards is very impressive.  He is the Mike Gregory Award winner for best offensive back and a first team all-OAC selection this year.  Having wathced him play three times, I'll say this, he is great on the field leader and very tough.  He took a huge hit this year against Mount and was right back in there on the next play.  In last year's playoff game against Mount he showed his grit and will to win although he came up just short.  In this season's earlier matchup his best wide receiver was neurtalized with a pregame injury, the weather undoubtedly played a factor and of course the nonexistant running game and Cap's inability to stop Nate Kmic on defense all had a hand in the defeat.  I would say he is quite possibly playing his best football right now with 822 yards and 8 TDs in his last 2 games.  In order to win on Saturday, Rocky will need to continue to play well and will need support from the running game and the defense.  If Cap can't stop the Raider rushing attack or get theirs going it will be very difficult for Cap to win no matter how good Rocky is playing.

Oh and I almost forgot the reason for all those jokes about Rocky is well one, because it is easy, and two, as Ric pointed out, Rocky has had success for all FOUR years he has played, something that is very rare.  Also a contributing reason for the jokes, is his year at Toledo, where he didn't play, which if I'm not mistaken, makes this his sixth year in college.

Moving on, dabein you called Mount fans arrogant.  Now from my experience with fans of another Ohio football team that is number 1 in the country and certain a Pennsylvanian football team that won a championship a year ago, I would say that any team that has tremendous success year in and out is going to have some cocky and arrogant fans.  Mount fans expect the Raiders to win week in and week out just as any other fan of any other successful team will.  I can understand why so many fans of other OAC schools dislike Mount and their fans because lets face it, Mount wins and has dominated the OAC for 15 years.  I'm sure you feel the same way about Mount as many do about the New York Yankees.  However, after hearing a "start the bus" chant last week, I have come to the conclusion that a majority of the cocky and arrogant fans just happen to sit right next to the fans of the visiting team.  I'm sure others could tell you about how classy and friendly most Mount fans are better than I could and it just seems you let your experience with a small portion of Mount fans effect your view of all Mount fans.

With that being said, I wish the best of luck to Capital and Mount this week and let's all hope for a game that can be as competitive and entertaining as last year's playoff game.
