Way to Go Black Hats
The USA South Athletic Conference announced the 2005 All-Conference football team and Ferrum was well-represented.
Coach Dave Davis earned his first Coach of the Year award after leading the Panthers to the NCAA playoffs.
Senior RB Terrell Mulford (North Garden, Va./Charlottesville), senior OL Brian Michaelsen (Oxford, N.C./J.F. Webb), senior DL Alvin Jones (Brookneal, Va./William Campbell), junior TE Chris Silk (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry), junior OL Pete Bowyer (Goode, Va./Jefferson Forest), junior P Matt Murphy (Salem, Va./Salem), and sophomore DB Perry Ford (Albany, Ga./Monroe) were all named to the All-Conference first team.
Second-team honorees include junior QB Jermaine Pitts (Winston-Salem, N.C./RJ Reynolds), junior FB Jacob Hawkins (Floyd, Va./Floyd County), and junior LB Jared Jordan (Roanoke, Va./Northside).
Sorry guys about the Cut/Paste, I'm just a little to lazy and about outa time for today. I am very proud of the Panthers and thought I would give em a shout out!
Go Panthers "You Got to believe" Narch you got a few of them right! Thanks

That Ferrum/Wesley matchup goes back a long way. I played them when they were still JUCO. It's not a fun place to play. I think after this weekend hope is about all we have. Lets HOPE that Wesley lays down like ferrum did last week. NOT LIKELY. If we are in the game at the start of the 4th. That means the bone is working and we have a great chance. If wesley gets up on us by more that 14 then it will likely be a long ride home.
Regardless of the outcome, let me make one thing perfectly clear. We deserve to be there!
Thanks Narc for all your insight throughout this season.

"the monarchs didn't get beat 44-7, at home, against the 4th place team in the conference"
Stranger things have happened in this league. How about E&H going 1-9. You are so right, a balanced offensive unit certainly will help you in the playoffs if you get down 44-7. But you got to get there first. Go Panthers!

Very Good CNU, I knew we would have problems with the Pass. Monarchs, Your welcome. A Co-Champion is better than NO-Champion, and it's very nice to see colors other than Blue and White lift that Trophy. CNU, a better first half of the season, and it could have been you all over again. The panthers certainly exposed themselves sat, and i'm not sure what happens next week. But I can promise you, if we do not put some pressure on the QB, it well be ugly.
Now as far as who is the best team representing the USAC. Get real! What else can we do! 9-1 speeks for itself. And unlike DI, this is not a popularity contest. This div champ is determined by wins and losses. Ferrum beat MC outright, and all others.(except CNU) Sorry your best players were not on the field, or such and such had a bad game, but oh-well that's football! Thanks for playing!

The more I look at things a 10-0 Thiel team should be the number 2 seed in the south region. They are going to be 10-0 in region, zero losses, strength of schedule is better, and Thiel beat W&J, which is what gives them the edge on Ferrum.
Just my opinion.
It may be a little biased...sorry
I honestly dont think it matters at this point. You better bring your "A" game no matter who you play and what thier rank is. This is DIII and our championships are decided on the field not by a computer. If Theil is due a #1 ranking, it will show soon enough.

Narch
You might be right, FC could get exposed today or next week. That is always a possibility (But unlikely) We all know they are working a weak division. But obviously someone thinks they deserve to be ranked 2nd. Thats the GREAT thing about DIII vs DI, the playoff system will truly tell us who deserves to be where. Good luck to the Monarchs today!

On the subject of CNU going DII. I think the majority here does not see it happening. But how and why did Chowan make the leap to DII. I would think with the deep pockets CNU has, it would be much easier than Chowan. Can anyone clear this up for me!

Ferrum is ranked #23 on the latest coaches poll.
Very Sweet. I 'll take it while I can.

Great Info. I think your right that USAC has the edge at this moment, But the ODAC has the history. Also you have to take into account the fact that E&H had laid a big goose egg until last week. Who would have ever seen that coming! That really skews the rankings you just computed. Also the USAC has 3 recently new teams. They really should have the weaker div. I do emember the day when we would take care of business at E&H, BC, RMC, even Salisbury and Wesley, but I am not sure it is a slam dunk anymore. FC now has to share the talent pool w/ CNU and SU.
