We have out highest scoring output of the year.....and we still lose.

Front page announces the addition of Franciscan (a second-year provisional in 2008-09) and D'Youville (2009-10), joining as Lake Erie goes to D-II.

Has anyone heard of Frostburg State, a football school, going to the Capital AC to help the Capital AC add football?  Currently, Salisbury (MD), Wesley (DE) play football and there are discussions occurring on other campuses.  A conference needs four full members to sponsor football and at least 3 affiliates to make the 7 necessary for the AQ.

This seems to be a choreographed ballet.  Is this also giving Keuka and Cazenovia a chance to ramp up their programs to an acceptable level to create a northern division of the AMCC?  Frostburg State, a public school and the southernmost, might permitted to leave if there were an acceptable strategy to maintain conference integrity that would benefit the most.

Just speculation...

I've been hearing that for a long time now.  It makes sense for FSU to move away from the AMCC as they seem to becoming more Northern in their makeup (Northern meaning three Buffalo teams) and goodness knows we need a better football conference to be a part of right now.

We've always had an ability to reload with talent.  We might not stay on top of the conference, but rest assured that any dip in performance is going to be very short.

You guts must have done one heck of a recruiting job getting a kid from Georgia to come to FSU. We have never been able to get kids from the southeast (maybe it's the weather).

It's not the weather at FSU, I can tell you that much.  We have some wicked nasty winters up there.  But the field is first rate, especially now that the soccer teams can play in the football stadium and don't tear up the outfield by using it for their matches.  Plus we have a nice weight room and some decent majors for athletes.  Not coast majors, but our education department is top notch and the sports medicine program is getting better.

Salisbury is currently installing artificial turf at Seagull Stadium with completion in time for the Fall Football schedule.

We just put in SprintTurf in Bobcat Stadium.  It looks really good.

Yes.  It's the same turf they have at Trinity and Elizabeth Forward in Pittsburgh.  Auburn and Ohio State also use it for their practice fields.

Interesting. Any other teams looking to move to D2. I did not hear much about Storms out of state recruiting, except they were expected to have a good recruiting year for in-state players. I know Behrend stayed mostly local for recruiting and from Frostburg's release, they are bringing in a lot of out of state recruits.

I just could not see Storm hiring a Frostburg coach.

Uh OK.  Frostburg is in a geographic situation that allows them to recruit from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and even parts of West Virginia and as far as away as New York and New Jersey.

Gallaudet's football team is varsity again in the fall.

Bobcats -- I posted in more detail on the subject on the ACFC board, for what it's worth.

Saw that, thanks.

Interesting stuff guys.  Thanks for the input.

Hey guys, Frostburg State fan here.  With all the talk of the death of the ACFC, we've been hearing that the CC could start sponsoring football as soon as 2008.  Have any of you heard anything about that?

Thanks.

That's good to hear.  Like I said, I don't see us leaving the AMCC because of the strong regional rivals we've developed.  The only way I could see us leaving the AMCC is if we desired to expand our rivalry with Salisbury.  Come to think of it, what wouldn't be a bad thing if we decided to go that way.

It's been awhile huh.  Well we almost upset the #1 team in the country.  We were up 5-1 but ended up losing the game.  Now spring ball is over and it's time to open up conference play.

Seems like the ACFC is on it's deathbed right now.  Does the Capitol Conference do football only members because I have a hard time seeing us leaving the AMCC since we were a founding member.

Any words on frostburg this year, i know they seem really really young but i see they have put up a few wins

Our OOC record was brutal.  But since the start of conference play, things have started to look up.  We're 5-1 in conference which puts us second behind PSB and Lake Erie.  Our lone conference loss was to PSB.

You guys need to come back!  We need you having as good a record as possible when we beat you in the RC Game.
