It's "Wabash Week" for Wittenberg. Rivarlies are one of the great things about college
football, and this has turned into one of the best in Division III. From a broadcaster's
standpoint, this was one of the games where you had your spot charts done as early
in the week as possible, and looked forward to being around practice during the
week. I have many great memories about broadcasting Wittenberg football,
and the games with Wabash stand out among them. Wish I could make it
to Springfield Saturday, but I'll have Leo on the web-cast. Let's hope it's
a great game, and more importantly, another Witt win...Tiger Up!

Here's hoping for a great game in Crawfordsville on Saturday ((and a Witt win))....
the Witt-Bash games were great to broadcast, and it has developed into a tremendous
rivarly. Just wish the Buckeyes and Purdue were at night at Ross-Ade! Covering D-3 football
was a great time, especially on days like this coming Saturday figures to be.....so enjoy the game,
and of course....TIGER UP!

"Witt4ever"........my not doing the Wittenberg games has nothing to do with
Garnett Purnell.....i have taken on the duties as play-by-play announcer for the
Ohio State women's basketball games and simply do not have time to devote to Wittenberg mens games as in the past. I found it not fair to the listeners and to myself  to do half the Witt schedule, and have someone else step in to do the other half. I'm sure your concerns re: the broadcasts are being addressed, Scott Leo is handling that and I'm sure whatever problems that are occuring will be corrected. The radio station situation is also not Purnell's fault, that blame falls on the current management team at WULM (formerly WBLY). Moving the games to the student station ensured they would
stay on the air in some form. Efforts were made to work out an agreement with WONE,
but numerous attempts failed. I hope this helps you in some way

"witt da one"  thanks for the nice words......as far tv or radio for me.......tv is fun, (the pay is better!!) but nothing beats calling games on the radio. I've been doing this for 23 years,
(the last 13 with Wittenberg) and I enjoy all the teams i cover, but there is just something about broadcasting on Saturday afternoon's calling Division III college football that stands out.

"oldguy"  you are right about the 94 and 95 Witt/Wesleyan games......in 94 Ken Magateaux hit Eugene Hardin with the game winning pass with around :30 left, 21-17. The '95 game was won by a Jimmy Watts fg 15-13. That was the year Witt finished 10-0 and went to the playoffs, losing at Wheaton in the 1st round. Allegheny beat the Tigers in '96, but after that, Wittenberg won 97 through '02 vs the Gators
