I am a 4 year lurker as my son is #95 at ONU. I just wanted to post and acknowledge a wonderful gesture of sportsmanship on behalf of the Wilmington team.
After the conclusion of the game (last home game for seniors) they went through the usual shaking hands then to the end of the field to sing the ONU fight song. After that the players went to the center of the field where Coach Bendo's name had been painted and they all knelt for a prayer. The Wilmington players saw this and ran over and joined our team.
This was after being beaten and being at someones home stadium and giving up time to spend time with their families. My hat is off to them and to their coaching staff.
My son and his team have been through 3 years of a roller coaster ride of adversity and emotional trials. NCAA, coach firing, new coach, loss of a coach etc. etc. I am so proud of the job they have done especially under the situation. What a fine group of young men. DanT
