Region 6 women's basketball / CUA @ Sal

I just want to say how consistent the inconsistency of the officiating was at Salisbury, again.  Both teams had to fight against each other, and the referee's.  At one point, the offials got numbers mixed up and tried to give a foul to a girl that was not even in the game.  I believe this is how it worked:  The foul was on Laura Kaye and they gave the foul to Kristen Linderoth.  After a discussion the tried to give the foul to Gloria Schnepp, who was not even in the game at the time (she had just subbed in).  After 5 minutes, they FINALLY gave the foul to Laura Kaye.  I do want to give Salisbury lots of credit.  They dominated for the whole first half and some of the second half (if not most).  Catholic's bench came out and played last night.  They shut down the Sea Gulls when they first came in, something the starters couldn't.  Gloria Schnepp had a terrific game and showed lots of heart. Maria Rojas showed tremendous composure and fought back at the end of the game.  Coach Carey should be very pleased with the performance of her team in the last 12 minutesor so of the game.  Catholic will have tremendous momentum going into the CAC tournament with the win last night and Gallaudet at home Saturday. They should get Goucher at home Tuesday in a game they should win.

Linderoth is a very good defender and is a rebounding machine. I seriosly think she has a chance at CUA's all-time rebounding record.

For POY Linderoth might be a stretch, but she should definetly be canidate and she should be the leading canidate for ROY. I think COY will most likely go to Coach Applebury if UMW wins the CAC Championship, and likewise for Coach Carey( if CUA wins the conference championship). If Catholic wins the CAC that is huge a win for the Cards because they will finally prove they can win on the road. UMW is a very young team and have the potential to go to the dance the next 3 years with CUA leaving the conference, and the great job Coach Applebury has done with recruiting.

I definetly agree. The blonde official seems to not be paying attention during games. Aren't officials supposed to pay attention? ???

I wasn't able to make the CUA @ York game, and dont know if the officials made or broke the game for either team, but I do have a small problem with the CAC officials. I know this isn't the ACC or Big East , but this is the second straight game CUA has had the same referee. And this is not the first time this has happened. CUA had the same referee for the MWU and St. Mary's game and now the same ref for the St. Mary's game and York game, if York's box score is correct. I don't know if this is usual or not but the one official did have an influence on the MWU and St. Mary's game.
