I am going to say that the ONU defense has an All-American day and the offense does enough to win the game.  ONU-23 to Mount-21

Big Moe's Big Stat: ONU Kicks 3 field goals and wins ala 2002 Buckeyes

Skunks,
I know that I may be a little biased when I make this statement because I am a former Polar Bear but I think that Quirk had a lot to do with the win last year against Mt. He was 15-of-22 for 108 yards and ended up with positive rushing yardage with zero turnovers. A few of those 15 completions were 3rd down conversions and I do recall at least one third down conversion from passing on a scoring drive. Without the error free ball we do not win that game.

Hey all,
It has been a long while since I have been able to post. Been a VERY busy summer and fall. I got married and started a new teaching and coaching job in north-central Ohio. I wanted to weigh in on this game although I will not be able to attend.
I have been very impressed with the stats that I have seen from the Raiders both offensively and defensively. Northern has seemed to have been solid and improving every week. Hopefully they can put a full game together and keep the ball out of the hands of the Mount offense.
I think that a low scoring game is to Northern's advantage and seeing some cold rainey weather like last year would be GREAT.
I am really excited to see what Northern's D-Line can do this year. Maybe some pressure on the QB.
Good luck to both teams and Cap as this is going to be a tough stretch for the Top 3 in the OAC.

Wes played well in the Hula Bowl.  Did not make any big mistakes.  Handled all of his punts and kickoffs well.  Drew a 15 yard kick catch interference, had a tackle on kickoff coverage, took a shot on a punt return from a LB from Texas, covered well as a CB.  Not an extremely impressive day but a solid day.

Correction,
The game is Sat. Still got the NFL on my mind. Sorry.

Wes Hostetler took off yesterday for the Hula Bowl.  The game is being televised prime time on ESPN Sunday at 7:00.  Thought a few might be interested.  I got a chance to talk to him before he left and he is pretty jacked.  Just wants to make a good impression and see what happens from there...

Toledo Blade article on Kmic.  Nice to see that The Blade is actually interested in something local other than the three big Catholic Schools (St. Johns, St. Francis and Central Catholic).

Not to defend officials for not making calls that seem obvious to fans but there is a big difference in what an official sees on the field opposed to what the fans see up in the stands. I can say this with a lot of confidence because i am a basketball official and have seen many times while watching a game from the stands calls that should have been made up were not.  What the fans see and what the officals can see is always much different.

l39eagle ,
The return trip was nice as a fan, but it woulda been even better as a player. The Mount fans were all great people.  They sure do know an awful lot (Tresselism) about football. Not to mention it was a great showing by the OAC.

hscoach,
Your ONU assessment is a little off....

GONE
-Starting 5 OL gone (Bockey, Swartz, Thomas, Walton, Russell)
-2 or 3 Starting WR gone (Gasser, Lee, Porter?)
-3 Starting DL gone (Tripp, Mochon and Bailey) along with a few backups
-2 Starting DBs gone (Hos and Midlam is a senior) along with some backups
-1 Starting LB gone (Danison)
-maybe 1 RB gone (Garrod?)

BACK
-QB Quirk
-RB Meadows
-WR Wittwer, Delk
-FB Summers
-DE J. Trusnik, Fitzsimmons, Lokai-Owens, Stone
-LB L. Trusnik & Esposito
-DB S. Porter, Bennet, Netzley, Robertson

The players that are listed as back have contributed to varsity contests throughout the year or have been players that would have recieved substantial playing time had they not been injured this year.

2minuteO,
From a former ONU player I want to give you congrats on a very good season.  I was at the game on Sat. and your team played a great game.  It was great to see two teams from the OAC that far in the tourney.

Just a few observations about the Mount-Cap game...

1. Both teams VERY well prepared.
2. Cap's o-line was MUCH improved since they played us.
3. Rocky impressed me with is accurate passes.
4. Howe's doesn't look that fast but burned MUC all day.
5. MUC looked to be on the ropes there for a bit but they fought their way back and when they really needed to be dominant they were.
6. The brunch was AWESOME!
7. All of the Mount faithful are GREAT people.  All of them were very cordial and even the security guards tailgated (without the booze) with us.
