Well, it's too bad Martin couldn't assert himself again tonight, and it probalby not first team all conference.  I think it's time for that idea to be thrown out the window.  Good win Jays, gotta keep chipping away, (Chipping if Augie would lose a game!)...Good luck to everybody down the stretch.

How could you ever question Martin's hustle or effort?  Isn't that why he's always labeled as a dirty player, because he plays extremely hard??  I don't see how anybody could say martin isn't a 1st-team all cciw player, when he is clearly an all-american.  He may have played two bad games, but you show me one player who hasn't had a bad game.  I'm pretty sure Amelianovich was non-existent at Elmhurst last week, but nobody is saying that he's not a first team player because he had a bad game.  When martin has the ball, the jays are in the best position possible, martin isn't the best shooter, but he is the best in the league in transition, and he's a great passer.  i don't feel you have any validity to your argument that martin lacks effort or hustle, and i'm sure there are a lot of people that would back that statement up.

Why would you sit back in a zone when your down 11 pts IWU?  Regardless, I don't know how anybody could call martin's foul on freeman a dirty play or anything like that?  That was a hard foul yes, but he smashed the ball off the glass and yes he did make contact, but that's the game of basketball.  Trost was absoulutely furious about the foul administered by martin, sorry coach next time chris should probably let freeman dunk the ball and lead a rally for IWU.  If he took freeman out and didnt' go for the ball, then yes it would be dirty, but also anybody who has played the game and has a competitive bone in their body knows that when a guy is about to go up for a dunk, you as the defender want to go up and smash it off the glass and make sure they don't finish the dunk.  Great win by the Jays, and Brian Lee played tremendous ball.

Sorry a bit late on this, but yes Martin does struggle vs IWU, except his freshman year...He only scored 35pts vs Iwu at Elmhurst his freshman year.  Wouldn't say that's struggling.  But he seems to struggle a bit more vs them.  I would look for Martin to have a big game this year as long as he let's it come to him.  But there's many more important games before that IWU game.

I have a few spelling errors...."that you CAN'T just talk trash about another player....That's better

yes, and at some point somebody needs to instruct this "announcers," that you can just talk trash about a player on the other team for about a minute straight.  Dont' tell me they didn't call him a dirty player about 5 times, and also the "disgusting act" by Christ Ihlenfeldt supposedly at the end of the game as time expired..that's all I'm saying, is that you are supposed to have some tact as well....

The Platteville radio guys were shocked that Martin was the in-bounder, and I was too.  If you put him at the other free throw line or somewhere in the Elmhurst frontcourt, at least there is a chance they foul him as he gets himself open.  And if they play soft, avoiding the foul, and the ball does get down there on the catch and shoot, don't you want one of the best players in the country - who has 31 in the game - to be the guy taking the shot?? If IWU is in that same situation and Keelan Amelianovich is the one Titan on the floor guaranteed not to be able to shoot, I'd be a salty Titan fan.

The boxscore...

Again, Elmhurst with 12 assists to 20 turnovers.

That doesn't surprise me..Just chalk that one up as a coaching mistake.  The only reason I would have to believe that Martin threw that in, is because he's got a great arm, being an all state high school qb, and pitcher....who knows

Wow...what a disappointing loss in Platteville.  To the Platteville announcers....SHUT UP!....broadcast the game, and keep your personal opinion of Chris Martin bottled up.  Not once, or twice or three times, but atleast 5 times they referred to him as a "dirty Player," and also they said Chris martin is leading Elmhurst in scoring, but isn't being a leader, and he's playing the game the way it's not supposed to be played.  Also, at the end of the game Chris Ihlenfeldt fouled a kid right as the clock expired, they said "I'm disgusted by that act by Chris I." Come on!!!  It's the end of the game, players are rushing to foul, and probably hit somebody hard, everybody has seen it!  my advice to UW-Platteville would be to get some announcers that know an ounce about the game, and keep their mouths shut about the players.  What a devastating loss to foul when the shot had zero chance of going in!  Back in the gym for Hanover...wow

I don't believe that Chris Martin has a flair for whining or flopping.  I will say that Chris plays extremely hard, and some times will give out a good foul or two, but that's because his motor is always going, and he absolutely doens't want to lose.  How did Michael score his points mainly, down in the post, or out on the perimeter?  He's a good perimeter shooter for a big man.  By martin's standards that is not a very big game statistics wise, and I think you can look forward to many games this year that blow that out of the water.  Just my opinion on Martin.

How has Elmhurst been looking in their two pre-season games???  I think they have played BU, and Parkside maybe???  Just wondering what the word is from those games?  How are the other cciw teams looking in their exhibition games?
