Hey Everyone,
It's been a while since my last post but I read the board all the time. I just had to come back and get my two cents out there for this week's game.

Hmm...where have I seen this before???

Oh yeah!!! 2001!

Let's see, in 2001 the Cats started off the year at 1-2 and everyone in Catland was in fear that the streak would come to an end. Then, in our time of need, in stepped a new QB wearing the #15, and with him he brought a win, and another win, and yet another win. Into the big showdown, with an undefeated Whitworth team.

The RATS came into the Catdome with a 6-0 record and sporting some good stats against not so good teams, and another loud mouthed poster by the name of AB. He hooted and hollered and talked about how great the RATS D was, how his brother (the QB) was the greatest player since Jim Brown, and throwing out ridiculous predictions like: Rats 64 - Cats -3.

Even with all of the that, they came and it ended like it almost always seems to end at the CATDOME, especially in this "rivalry" -- A WILDCAT WIN!

So, I am making predicition today, not based on any stats or anything else other than history. Because as we know in Wildcat Nation...history repeats itself. NWC Championships seem to repeat themselves, Winning Seasons seem to repeat themselves, and even National Championships seem to show up every now and then too.

So, I am calling on the ghosts of (the man, the myth, the legend) David Russell, Ty Matthews, Ryan Cruz's three field goals, and of course, Mike Cooney's punt return to win it in the closing minutes. My prediction is the same score as it was on that day: Linfield 23 - Whitworth 16.

Led by our new #15 (not nearly as good as the original but is still getting the job done), we stop turning the ball over and get it done.

CONGRATS ON 51 SEASONS!!!!
Go CATS!!!!

9er, Tell your two coworkers they need to get on here too.

99w4life is in here right now, and basically I think they are on here because they are busy being the bread winners for their house, or they lives, or something along those lines.

Oh yeah, and they get extra credit for going to Linfield Wildcat games...basically this is best class ever. I should get like Teacher of the Year or something like that.

Should you be teaching or something 9er?

You can rest assured that your tax dollars are being spent well. My students are learning about the REALLY important things. We have watched 'Coach K - Beyond The Glory' so that they can learn what a real leader is. We have made posters for various school activities, planned those activities, and then watched ESPN2 when we are done with that. So, yes...your tax dollars are being spent very well. My class teaches themselves, which gives me more time to post on here. Just a sec...they are getting a little rowdy!

Why aren't you married again?

Just kidding.  We are actually flying to Seattle that night.

I am waiting for that woman who will be cool with everything I wrote down there. I may be waiting for a while  :'(

I talked to our friend...the OSU fan...and he was talking about a ROCK reunion up in Seattle. You should know some of the hot spots from your earlier days. Sometime around the 23rd or 24th when I get back from NC and another Cat national championship.

I went out to Salem last year but I'm thinking Mrs. Rockcat would dropkick me if I even brought it up this year, especially since she is the loan bread winner right now. ;)

Oh Rockcat,
Lone bread winner or not...she needs to know that you are the man of the house. You need to lay down the law. You tell her you are moving back to Mac to become a townie and complete the ROCK reunion. I bet we could even find a job for you at Duniway. Then, you tell her that you are going to the Stagg (assuming the Cats make it) because I will be there too and we both know what happens when you and I sit together at games. Whether it is on a couch or in the first row with posters making fun of chicks and schools that hyphenate. Basically, grow a pair, take off your skirt, and tell the wife what is gonna happen here.

Co'n Craig, Get em Craig, Co'n Craig!

--LiveWith9,

Good to see you on the board!  Tell that roomy of yours that the wife and I and even the old man are headed down to watch him dismember the opposition tomorrow.  By the way, I've got a little somethin for you to decorate the apartment with, so find me sometime during the game so I can get it to you.

Oh my favorite ATC,
Hey buddy! Great to hear from you. The roomie is ready to rumble, and I am glad to hear that Silverton power will be in the building. I will be at the t-shirt stand if you want to find me. Any chance we get to decorate the apartment is a good thing. Right now it is cluttered with all kinds of d3 championship memorabilia.

This is gonna be a great game. The film looks pretty good on these guys and like T-Ford (another great Linfield running back) said on the DVD..."Big games, baby, that's why we came here...big games!" The CATS will be ready to play.

Go CATS!
Bring your canoes because it is pouring out here right now. Can you imagine what this playoff run would have been like this year if we didn't have the turf? This may not have even been a home game for us. It may have been in some Fargo Dome or something like that. Remember...they can't have a miracle in the mud when there is no mud. Cats WIN!

Hello Cat Fans,
It has been a great week. Not as much smack talk going on this week and so I have laid low. However, it is time for me to give some input on a few things.

First of all, best running back of all time at Linfield would have to be David Russell. I hesitate to even type out his name for fear of what might happen. This guy was a man's man and word is the he is currently wrestling polar bears in Alaska or something along those lines. His legend was made in one game, which symbolized an entire career. In the mud when he had like 56 carries for like 300 yards against Whitworth. Rockcat you might remember that game. We were the only ones in a couch it was raining so hard.

As for the game this week, it is a big one. #1 vs. #2. Wow, I am so pumped. This game is so big we are bringing in a bunch of our recruits to see what this school is like on gameday. The game should be a whole lot of fun, and I truly believe that the Cats will come out on top. The defense should have an easier time considering they will know who has the ball, and where the ball is being run to. Last week was not fun when you have no idea who has the ball. The offense will shake off the cobwebs and be back to their old ways. The ball will be flying...rain or shine...and any number of 6 recievers will be running all over the field. If they can hang onto the ball then we will be just fine. Sounds like there will be good football, big hits, and a whole lot of Cat fans roaming around. The underlying difference may be the travel. WWU has not left the Wisconsin boarder this year, and that is just something you aren't ready for until it happens. Bottom line...CATS WIN

CATS - 35
WWU - 20

I will definitely be on my best behavior.  ;D

I love how my quesiton has been avioded...

Is there anyone in D3 football you think Linfield wouldn't "monkey stomp"?

I am gonna guess that there hasn't been a response yet for two reasons...

1) It is taking us that long to come up with a team that we wouldn't "monkey stomp"

2) We are trying to believe that it won't be as easy as it sometimes seems to repeat. There are some really good teams out there, and we have played some of them. It is hard not to think that when you see what we did to the #6 team in the country last week, and when you see what we did in the national semis against Rowan last year. When this team is firing on all cylinders then no I really don't believe that there is a team that can hang with us. That is not disrepecting anyone at all, but that is based on what I know about our team. The truth is that we are the only thing that can stop ourselves.

So, I don't want to be arrogant but I really believe that we can beat everyone we play and probably "monkey stomp" them if we play our best. Now, if something happens and we don't then I will be the first to come on here and give props to whoever can beat us. However, when you mix the best offense in D3 with the 14th best rushing defense in the country, that spells a long day for the Cobbers.

Yesterday somebody from Minn. explained to me how the Garden of Eden was actually located somewhere near Moorehead.  He explained that it was definitely on the Minn. side.  I think he said that the temptation happened in North Dakota.  So, by that rational the fall of man occured when Adam and Even left Minnesota.

I may know of another religion that has its roots in North America. It spent a lot of time in the midwest too. Hmm. :D

Does this Elliot cat appreciate all the B.J.'s he gets daily on this board. As an outsider, I ask, what are you going to do with yourselves when he's gone?

Must be nice to be super talented and located in the armpit of Oregon.

Who the hell are you and where are you from? The armpit of Oregon! I will simply chalk that up as the comment of moron who is probably from the midwest and thinks that anything other than a corn field, or wheat field is a waste of God's earth. If you have been out here even once, then you would not ever make that comment. What do you get when you mix the mountains with the ocean, and all the green that you can handle...God's Country aka The Pacific Northwest!

Well, well, well!
I wanted to come on here and mention a couple of things that have come to my mind as I read some of the comments.

Cobbernation - Realism is not your strong suit, and that is ok. I understand rooting for your team, and thinking that they won't lose, and that they will come through when faced with adversity and up against a better team. It is what we as fans all hope for when our team is up against the odds. It is why Disney makes so much money on all those sports movies. I mean who really thought the Mighty Ducks could beat the Hawks or all the other teams they played. However, this is not a movie and the reality is that the Wildcats will win this game handily. Believe me, I know where you are coming from...as a Mariner, and Washington Husky fan - I know where you are coming from. But, the Huskies didn't beat USC (or anyone else for that matter) and the Mariners didn't make the playoffs and the Cobbers season is over on Saturday. So, I respect that you support your team, but realism has to set in at some point, and that point will be the end of the 1st quarter on Saturday.

As for D1 "rejects", one other thing that people haven't mentioned is that at a D3 school you have much more of an opportunity to play more than one sport. From what I know, Dailey is a pretty freakin good baseball player and coming to Linfield gave him the opportunity to play both. Many of our athletes at Linfield play more than one sport, and as a former D1 athlete myself, I know that that is nearly impossible (except in a few instances). Besides, it is not like Linfield got this good over night. We may have gone to the next level in the last two years, but we have been around a long time (ie...50 straight winning seasons, 4 national championships). We have been up there battling with St. John's, and others all along. So, I hardly would say that a couple of D1 players are the reason we are where we are.

Bottom line...in the words of one of my 7th grade students, "Don't hate me cause you ain't me!"

Rockcat - Answer your stinkin phone when I call. You can talk to Ty all night long on the phone but can't call me back ever. JERK!

Cobbers welcome to the Catdome (the only dome without a roof)...where our fans are hospitable, the tailgating is awesome, and the football team wins championships.

The individual awards are nice, but there is only one award that we care about bringing back, and we will go to Salem to pick that one up.

Thanks CamCat,
I can take a lot of things, but when people start to come after the Dragons...well then I have to step up and say something.

This place is definitely addicting, but that is alright. Since we can't be out on the field, then we may as well win the battle of words.

I laughed out loud with Cobbernation took Locey too seriously.    What did he expect Locey to say, that Concordia was so bad they could get beat by the Duniway Middle School 8th graders??

Now, now, now...I work at Duniway Middle School, and even though we went 0 for the season this year. When asked about our team...Coach Locey had this to say, "Well, you know, it is tough sometimes. There are some real good athletes out there, and a bounce here or there, and your team might have gone undefeated." Always the class act. WE WERE AWFUL.

Anyway, I am new on this as a poster, but read it often. Teams don't run against us because we cover our assignments and we tackle very well. Our guys are very disciplined, and Coach Smith is a absolute magician with what he does to get this defense ready for games. In the end, it won't matter because Linfield will score on its first four possessions and the game will be out of hand. Also, as for 4.4 speed, I am not sure that would be in the top 5 on the field this weekend.

Cats in a romp...Benzel gets more playing time
Cats - 49
Cobbers - 14
