To help clarify:

The SLIAC first sponsored football from 1996-99 with five teams playing (Blackburn, Greenville, MacMurray, Principia and Westminster), but with a change in the conference sport sponsorship requirements (four teams to six), football was dropped as a conference sport.

In 2000 and 2001, Blackburn, Principia and Westminster were independent, while Greenville and MacMurray played in the Illini-Badger.

From 2002-2007, Blackburn, Principia and Westminster played in the UMAC, while Greenville and MacMurray continued to play in the Illini-Badger.

In 2008, the SLIAC sponsored football with Blackburn, Eureka, Greenville, MacMurray, Principia, and Westminster participating. Huntingdon and LaGrange joined as associate members for football only.

When it was announced that Blackburn was dropping football and Principia was suspending football prior to the 2009 season, SLIAC football was no more. Eureka, Greenville, MacMurray and Westminster (once again) hooked up with the UMAC. And Huntingdon and LaGrange were dropped as associate members.

And, that is where we are.

The Fighting Weltys are in the UMAC, but the Stinson Creek Shootout is a sight to behold!

Hope,

Not everyone charges now, so the SLIAC may be one of the best fiscal bargains in intercollegiate athletics. Regardless, I'm sure we could get you media credentials if you promise to be nice in your critiques of SLIAC teams (measured, of course, by the column inch).

Let the stretch run begin!

Good luck finding a school with the budget to pay you, unless you don't mind working for free!

To help clarify some concerns about score and stat reporting:

* Most SLIAC schools do not have a full-time SID, which can cause some problems.

* Each school normally posts (or can post) their scores directly to the SLIAC & D3 Hoops scoreboards, not the SLIAC SID.

* When games go beyond 10:00 p.m., stats are normally not posted on the SLIAC site until the next day (the SLIAC SID lives in N. Carolina, EST).

* Also, forwarding stats it is not always as easy as punching a button (software or computer problems, entry or human error, etc.).

Unless I'm mistaken, this year the men play Thursday and Saturday, with the semi-finals at 6:00 and 8:00, and the championship at 1:00.

There are a couple of things that need to be considered in hosting a regional contest. First, the school needs to apply and in the case of basketball, I believe the deadline is February 19. Second, geographical location is a critical factor.

As for the possibility of a seed, the strength of schedule index on this site can provide valuable information:
