Not their normal good work. They may be missing normal staff. 1/3 of students on campus are involved in Christmas with Wartburg program this weekend.

Good article on Wartburg - Bethel game by MSP Star Trib's Patrick Reusse

Good win Knights!

The main camera location is located in press box about 35' above field level. Probably running a smaller than normal crew because 300+ students involved with Christmas programs this weekend on campus. Also some doing MBB game NOW.  2pm Central. I'm happy to be able to watch.

Might have started 4 new faces, but 3 of them played significantly last year.  They clearly bounced back with Grinnell, a game that is always unorthodox and can be frustrating for freshman to play in.  What happened to Aidan Weber?  Started 19 games as a freshman last year and averaged 5 and 5 for the Knights?

Apparently Weber decided before the season started he didn't want to play bb. Still taking classes at Wart.

BV is the *very early* surprise to the season after beating a Bethany team that upended Simpson last week.  Cornell will be a team to be reckoned with in the Midwest Conference.  They gave Wartburg all they could handle and now beat Coe.

Wartburg played 4 new starters. 3 Freshmen played in the first 5 minute.
2 probable starters were out with injury. Moore "lower leg" nagging injury from preseason and Stulken just cleared to resume practice after missing all but a few games last season due to injury/surgery.

Started - Molstead @ PG (Freshman), Touro (26), Roquet (2), Zumbach (26) Smith Drahos (26) - (2018-19 Games played)

Last night WC beat Grinnell @ Grinnell, 92-74. Telling stat. WC 1-2 from 3, GC 9-45.

Cornell could meet up again @ Buzz Levick Tournament this weekend.

Using the MIAC Presidents Council model, maybe the MIAC FB board should be kicked off this site. You have twice as many posts as any other West Region Football. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just kidding.

I don't have a horse in this race, but a couple snippets of the conference's statement jumped out at me:

Quote
The MIAC Presidents' Council cites athletic competitive parity in the conference as a primary concern.
"It's not you, it's us." Wow, this looks...rather pathetic now that they actually came out and said it. There are other conferences that have dominant teams, more.dominant that UST is/was in the MIAC - do you see them kicking those teams out, or trying to rise to the challenge?

To which conferences do you refer, Ryan?

To be honest, I can't think of another D3 league that has an all-sports competition history that's this lopsided in favor of one school. But I'll be honest -- I may be overlooking one.

Pat, can you think of another D3 league that has an all-sports competition history that's more lopsided in favor of one school than this, especially over the last decade and a half?

Note: This is not a comment upon the decision that the MIAC presidents made today, in regard to which I am totally neutral. Like Ryan, I have no horse in this race. Your own business is your own business, MIACers. I'm simply trying to get the facts straight.

Wartburg College has won 17 straight IIAC / ARC All Sports titles. Tied 2 times but more times that not,  Men and women sweep.

Ha! Pay beat me to it

😜 almost everyone in the conference has  taken a run at Wartburg and they  take it at a challenge to get to WC's level of success. No "coalition of losers" in this conference.

The American Rivers Conference has concluded its 2018-19 regular season calendar. For the 17th-straight year, Wartburg College finds themselves atop the Combined All-Sports Championship Trophy standings, recognizing the conference's top overall program. The Knights also won the Marjorie Giles Women's All-Sports Championship Trophy for the 16th time in school history and the Elmer Hertel Men's All-Sports Championship Trophy for the 22nd time.

Long time, long time.

The St. Thomas discussion (even if it kind of reads like 5WOL is having an internal argument) is a relevant one. On the heels of Iowa Wesleyan's closure, I'm hearing that a pair of ARC schools are also in some perilous financial straits.

Iowa Wesleyan is officially closing?  I know they were close to closing last fall, but I had heard they were remaining open.

Doesn't sound like it, adding M + W wrestling

Will sports betting affect ARC?

I'll put $500 on Dubuque getting called for holding every time they rush for 4 or more yards against Wartburg 😏

If it was 4.5 yards I'd take the under but 4.0 seems like a PUSH to me.🤪

Congrats Knights!

27 straight conference titles for Wartburg. The last 26 of the IIAC and first American Rivers Conference. Clinched with 23-16 win at #8 Loras Friday nite.

213 consecutive conference dual wins.

At this point, it appears that BV at Coe is the only game being rescheduled from Wednesday to Thursday due to the weather.  Anyone know of any other changes, or will all other games be played as scheduled?

Wartburg @ Simpson moved to Thursday.
