wow....are Bowens and Shemerdiak really coming back to the team over at Carthage?

first i want to start by saying that Augie and NCC are playing really well right now. they are the top two teams in the CCIW and they've been showing everybody why time after time. second, IWU has really been slumping lately. i'm not sure what it is but with the amount of talent on that team i hope they dont fall from the top one or two in the league by the end of the season.

on another note...i have read the post and checked the box scores and i'm coming to the following conclusions about carthage and their situation this season:

1.  Bosko is definitely not the reason why they are losing games. if you ever go to the games, read the play by play, or ever listen to their games it is obvious that the players make the mistakes on the court and its not because of how bosko coaches. so driving him out wont solve anything.

2.  Kyle Jeffery is definitely the best player in uniform for the red men and he is leading the league in scoring i believe. but the red men have no chance with him scoring all their points. someone else is going to have to put the basketball in the hoop for them to win. their free throw percentage might be the lowest in the league and they seem to get out rebounded more times than not. --hint-- that might be why they keep losing.

3.  no matter how much people dont like it or want to admit it, and no matter how much people try to say carthage is fine and they're just not competing well.....its more than obvious that they really miss and need Trey Bowens and Mike Hart as well. any time you lose one of your leading rebounders (Hart was one of the leading rebounders at the time), your leading scorer and assist man (Bowens has been out for 5 games and he is still the second leading scorer and still leading the team in assists per game) its only going to do that team nothing but bad. i might also add that other than Hood, Bowens is still second on the team in free throw percentage with more than ten attempts and he still leads in minutes played. if Bowens is really coming back soon, they can really use him.

4.  with the fans that carthage have i dont see how anybody can win. especially when you dont back the head coach of the team. you cant be serious.

i actually took some initiative to go down and see carthage play last night against illinois wesleyan. it was a pretty descent game, amelianovich showed me exactly why he has the status of an all american. i didnt see much in dauksas at all other than his quickness to the basket. jones was pretty dominant throughout the game also. jeffery and imani did a great job keeping the red men in it. the red men definitely didnt take advantage of their free throw opportunities or rebounding.

i actually saw bowens at the game talking to hood at half time on the bench. there were also some conversations in the crowd about bowens coming back to the team in a few weeks. if that is true with the way carthage played last night and if they continue to play that way with bowens' 16 ppg and 34 min/per game teams could be in a lot of trouble in the cciw.

just a thought of mine though.

first i'd like to congratulate north central in there big win over illinois wesleyan. simmons is a very good player who has worked hard to get himself and his team where they are now. also great job by carthage beating grinnell up in kenosha. i did hear however that bowens and hart didnt play and i'm not sure why. but what ever the reason may be i hope they both bounce back strong. but the wesleyan upset is a good indicator of how crazy conference is going to be this year. so good luck to all the teams in the cciw.

ok....let me say this and then i'll be through with this discussion because the logic that some people are bringing to the table is just hilarious. so i'll give everybody a point that drinking the night before games probably isn't the best idea and i totally agree with that but just like mr. prikkel here said you got guys who are all conference first team doing the same things....but of course nobody's going to talk about them because they win right? also i've done a bit research myself on the few carthage games that they lost. its not like they've been getting blown out every time cause the games they did lose they had legit chances of winning. the games have always come down to decision making and lack of smart play. but i'm sure someone will just say something like if they weren't out drinking maybe they will make smart plays right?

first off, you dont know me and i dont know you either so dont assume what you dont know. i am everything far from a college student so that statement about me you just made was really uncalled for. secondly, i'm not saying that carthage isnt losing cause hell anyone can see that and i think its terrible how they've been performing too....but once again all i am saying is dont try to put those kind of personal comments against why they are losing. what any player at any level of basketball does in their personal time has no bearing on what goes on during the game. it shouldnt be a topic of anyone's conversation cause its not fair to the players you talk about and anyone else it involves.

and what does grammar skills have to do with anything? what is that supposed to mean?

i understand that the forum is made for opinions to be stated when they normally cant be stated but there's a correct way to do everything. and just going on about one player not being as good as someone thinks they should be in the manner that some people on here do is just ridiculous. granted, i dont have any connection with any of the players from any team so its not like i'm picking a side and being mad about it but negative statements like that should be kept to a mininmum. but the thing i was most bothered by was how the players personal lives were being brought into perspective. i mean to go so far as to say that you seen some players at bars sometimes the night before and after games is just not right. but dont think i dont understand what you're saying either

this is actually my first time on this forum because i was only reading it at first to keep up with happenings in the CCIW. you are not the only person doing it so i'm not just faulting you but why is it that everyone has something to say about how "bad" carthage is. first, just because they dont have any standout players doesnt mean that they cant win. second, who are you to criticize Bowens' game as well as anyone else on that team. obviously you dont play so to say anyone is overrated and lacks leadership skills or talent is just stupid. third, you claim you're a student so if any of them are going out to bars why are you putting their personal business all over the internet. that is not your place or resposibility to do that. last, you cant comment on coaching if you dont know whats going on in the system. so until you find out saying bosko is a terrible coach is not the best move either.

and for everyone else who feels the need to bash carthage and their players, or any other team and their players for that matter, think about what you're saying first and if its not too positive just keep it to yourselves.
