Well . . . . .  not a pleasant night for The Pride. 

After spotting Shenandoah 14 points in the first quarter on turnovers and a bad snap to the GC punter, The Pride came back to tie it by halftime - 14 to 14. GC blocked a FG try at the end of the first half. 

Thats where the game ended - or should have ended. 

The second half was full of GC penalties, turnovers, failed fake punt and just some poor play. The Pride played hard until the end, but just didn't have enough to overcome mistakes. Kudos to the Hornets for taking advantage. 

Final score: 35 - 14 Shenandoah wins. 


BTW, Lowe scored again on a great catch in the endzone on a great pass by GC QB Cap. First GC TD was on a short run by Bacon. Hopefully our guys can go to Danville and take care of business at Averett.   8)

Yes, against Maryville Lowe only had 23 yards on 3 catches, a credit to a tough Scot defense. However he scored on one of those catches in a close 22-13 game. He also had two punt returns for 50 yards and two kickoff returns for 57 yards for a total of 130 yards. Maybe not a big game, but gave the Pride a good shot at a win.

Like you said, "any team could have won" in the MU/GC game and MU got the call in the endzone. No excuses, GC should not have left it in the hands of the ref - that always comes back to bite us - especially at home!! No one to blame but ourselves.

Here are my humble picks:

Averett 17-14 over Methodist = Monarchs seem to be struggling - hopefully they'll still be struggling when they play the PRIDE

Maryville 10-0 over Ferrum = The Scots do have a very good defense

GC 10-9 over CNU - Sorry, just can't bring myself to pick over my son . . . . .    and I believe in miracles!  8)

I think the ride home from Newport News is ALWAYS the longest of the year . . . . .

Late and VERY bad pass interference call in the endzone on 4th down for Maryville gives them the score with 3 mins left in game.

The another bad holding call when GC gets the ball. Tough game, but the officials made the decision.

Good game Scots . . . . they played well - any team could have won. No home field advantage for the Pride - again.

There's always hope for the rushing game, they didn't do too well last week, but they threw so much more than they tried to run.

I think they might be missing one of their starting RBs, but they do have pretty good backups.

With Lowe healthy and Cap having time to throw, they should beat Maryville. I don't know anything about M's defense, but I know the Pride's defense is really solid. That is why they have the victories they have.

The Greensboro Pride are 2-1 and are on a 2 game WINNING STREAK ! ! Torey Lowe scored a Pride single game record four TDs.

Hopefully we can win next Saturday night against Maryville for three straight. Isn't that some kind of record for GC?

   And way to go Averett!!!

Anyone know how Shenandoah and Maryville fared this weekend ?

Bad day, CNU63. I've had too many days like that. My condolences.

OK - Pride actually had a running game today. GC RB Beasley scored the first TD and a GC safety returned an INT for 60 yards and a TD - all in the first half.

Pride defense played fantastic with GC having bad field position all day. Two or three fumble recoveries and the INT. A lot of punts by both teams.

Pride almost gave it away at the end with an INT with a couple of minutes left, but the defense held and the Pride won.

E&H announcers said it looked like the Pride just wanted it more and that they came to play.

Is a winning streak too much to ask?
