Anybody have any insight as to who the new Wesleyan coach will be?

I wonder what the win % looks like for day 2 of the Fri-Sat. games. My feeling is it should overwhelmingly be in the home team's favor. Has anybody tracked this?

Classic Sheldon on both accounts. One time my freshman year during a blowout he asked me if I thought it was safe for him to put me in yet...it's taken me more than a decade to see the humor...
Tufts will be fine as soon as they commit to the defensive end of the floor. Their biggest guy plays spot minutes, so there's no eraser there to correct mistakes around the hoop.
The Jersey trip will be a big tell as to how they will start NESCAC play.

2 straight triple OT wins for the Jumbos. I wonder if the boys at Elias could dig up the last time that happened...

Jumbos over MIT in 3 OT's!!! MIT shoots 96% from the line...Looks like the defense was better, but the offense sputtered a bit.

Let me be the one to admit I had to look up "penuriousness."
That out of the way, as a player I enjoyed getting to play teams from other conferences because of the NESCAC schedule. We had the opportunity to travel to tournaments once or twice a year and play top teams from other conferences or NCAA/NAIA divisions.
Now as a H.S. coach I can't stand our schedule because of the size of our league. We never get the opportunity to play out of conference until the state tourney.
I'm not sure I believe in "scheduling" specifically for the NCAA tourney. Loading up on cupcakes before getting into conference play never works (see: UCONN).
Finally, in '95 and '97 before the automatic bids/pools (in a 64 team tourney) the NESCAC got 5 teams in both years. There was a NESCAC rep in both final fours. The argument could be made that the double round robin format combined with the current selection format would hurt the league more because of exclusions from the tourney.

Over the past 10 years it's been Amherst, Tufts, Trinity, and Williams beating each other up for the bid.
Cant speak for the others, but the Jumbos drive down south (practicing a coupletimes along the way) and play their way back home. They have a rediculous schedule this year with only 6 home dates...nuts.

Bob Sheldon was an assistant on those Clark teams, I'm pretty sure.

What does everyone think about fouling before the shot up by 3??? Tough call to make, but I'm sure Sheldon talked about it...

I think Mike McGlynn from Tufts (via Brandeis) had a cup of coffee in the ABA, and Khari Brown ('94) played in one of the Pro leagues in Finland. So I'm sure every year there are a few NESCAC grads who continue to play at some level.
The rest of us either get into coaching or internet posting...

Endicott's coach was an assistant at Tufts for 2 or 3 years before his current post. Any way he can "gameplan" his way into a close one? He obviously will know the personnel and the system.

Does anyone know if Tufts is eligible for a home game? Assuming their seeding is high enough. In '95 we were the #2 seed, but had to play at #7 Salem St. b/c the length of the court at Cousens wasn't up to NCAA specs. I wasn't sure if they addressed that issue when they put the hardwood in a few years back. Really the only drawback of playing at Cousens...

Tufts will continue to overachieve, and deserve a pool C bid if they don't win the tourney. Coach Sheldon does his best work with groups of guys that buy in to his system and will sacrifice stats for wins.
On a previous post someone referred to the Jumbos colors as blue and "copper."
Officially, I believe, they are Columbia Blue and Brown. While they may be less offensive to see on a basketball uniform, you should have seen the old baseball uniforms....The smurfs wore less blue...

You can't forget about Bice (Williams) and Stevens (Colby) if you're gonna put an all-time team together. Those two were 6'6 - 6'7 shooters. Way athletic. Tough matchups. I think Bice may have had 2,000 in the early/mid 90's. I'd take either of those guys over Shantz every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
