RMC has always had the pleasure of having great coaches. I'm certain that trend will continue. By the way, three of RMC's recruits enrolled at HSC today !!!!!

Jk

It looks like W&L has lost those two traditional games, at least for this year. Centre nor U of S on the schedule.
In fact W&L's ooc schedule looks pretty bad and boring but I'm afraid represents current times. I've spoken with two ODAC Ad's in the last week and they have nightmares around the ooc schedule. Three is two many, at least for most odac schools, according to them.

Ad's have admitted finding three OOC games is becoming harder and harder each and every year. I think it makes sense for the odac to expand to eliminate the rising problem. I'm sure most disagree, however, lets act like most do agree and lets suggest a couple of schools suitable for the odac. I'll suggest Maryville and Frostburg St.

just need to keep the Ad's talking. I think take four years off and put Wabash back on the schedule for another home and away. If HSC would start charging for home games the gate receipts would cover the cost. I think it cost about $75K to get the HSC squad out to Wabash last year and the gate receipts would easily cover although I think it would take an act of congress to force HSC to actually charge for admission. Thats a real sticking point for me, why leave the $$$ on the table ?

Budgets have much to do with the schedule for sure but how much would it cost Guilford to schedule CNU ? Good program and less than 5 hours away. In addition, Guilford could schedule Salisbury, Wesley, Huntingdon, W&J, Maryville or Thomas More without breaking the bank. Just need the desire to toughen the schedule. Outside of HSC, RMC and W&L it seems as if the odac shys away from tough OOC competition.  HSC has played Huntingdon, Salisbury, Wabash and CNU in recent years; RMC plays Hopkins most years and W&L entertains Centre most years and I believe those are the only three odac schools holding an odac championship since 2008. Tougher OOC competition does help the program.

So the coach is leaving along with 8 seniors. Next couple of years may not be too friendly for RMC b'ball. Coach Davis did a great job and I'm sure will do well at Bucknell as well. ODAC is getting good at placing coaches at the D1 level. As well, I'm certain RMC will bring in another outstanding coach, like they guy now at Randolph (maybe). I think he does more with his talent than most odac coaches do, has no facilities, school has no history to use to it's recruiting benefit, but seem to be competitive each year. He'd be in my top 3 if I were the AD.

And at a school the has the worse athletic achievement in the odac. Football has not been good until this past year, basketball and baseball are horrible, other sports really don't matter but would bet a $1 they aren't very good either. I'd vote to kick them out of the odac and any other school that stoops to these very low levels. I guess the honor code dosen't apply outside of the classroom. Lets bring Maryville back to the odac. Only another two hours further down the road. They can help the conference in both football and basketball and maybe in some other sports I'm not aware of. I have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior and the message it sends is not a good one. Will the employees involved be fired for not following the code of conduct or will they get a hand slap ? I say the AD, coaches and all others involved need to go. Thats my two cents worth !!!

Thanks for your feedback. HSC looks kinda of like this; replace 8 starters on defense; replace QB, WR, & RB, and one Olineman. You are correct about our offense next year, it will certainly look different.  September is huge for us as well as we face two teams that made it to the second round of the playoffs in weeks one & two. HSC will start slow and get better with each week. Facing Wabash will help prepare them for odac play. So basically, little experience on defense, OL very experienced, skilled positions little to no experience. All good players, which is why I think we begin to hit our stride in week three.

WallyWabash: What should HSC expect from Wabash next year ? I'm afraid 2015 will be a rebuilding year for HSC, probably picked near the bottom of the ODAC preseason and as you well know, the ODAC is not competitve on the regional or national
level most years. I'm afraid the Gentlemens Classic will not be much of a game unless miracles occur between now and then.

accounting firm hired to review the books at SBC indicate the school was in good standing as of 8/15/14 and no financial reason to close the doors. Interesting at best. I agree with Ron Boerger, SBC has already been blown up for reasons he mentioned.

I'm pulling for Bo Ryan; he has coached two against vs. HSC and his niece is a good friend of our family. She happened to be an AA b'baller at University of Richmond. Plus I can't stand Duke.

I don't think the Wabash contract will be renewed but I certainly speak with no authority.
I would think both CNU and HSC would want to continue playing each other because of SOS and the convenience for both schools. This year we play Ferrum, CNU and Wabash ooc. Next year I would love to see Maryville on the schedule. I'll suggest this to our to our AD.

How long have you've been back in Farmville ?

more to come on this deal. two high powered law firms involved and all sorts of allegations being thrown around. asking for president and the entire board to be fired, etc.

Yep, my whole group was very happy GC did not go for 2. That was a difficult week for HSC and I was surprised they played as well as they did, that said, the GC game was the last decent game HSC played in 2014. All the injuries, the untimely death, etc., just caught up with them and they were done after the GC game.

Thanks for the update. Is 2015 going to be the year of the Quakers ? Certainly will be preseason #1 in the odac with a real opportunity to end HSC's dominance over the Quakers. In fact I favor GC by 14 over the Tigers in 2015. I think BC and E&H will be good and W&L much improved. Don't know about RMC.  SU will improve but will still struggle in the odac; CUA can only get better, I think.
