Messages - Johnny Augie

It's been a while since I've posted, but still enjoy reading all of the comments.

I'll be attending the Augie game this weekend and I'm looking forward to it.  Hopefully the home court advantage will help them take care of business this weekend.

Good season by IWU...I'm sure they wanted to win the whole thing, but they should be proud of the run that they had in the tourney.

Good luck Titans, make the CCIW proud.

Proud of LU,

I was one of the guys that went to the back of the line for the 2nd game and I got a seat ok.  My problem was with the way your AD was treating visiting fans.  He was lacked class and was rude to visiting IWU fans. I sat and watched it happen.  I'm an Augie fan and that bothered me.

Plus, I thought the t-shirt idea was great.  Well Done!

Congrats to Harrigan for being named D3hoops.com "All-Region Player of the Year".

Also congrats to the big three from IWU, Simmons, Martin and Bollier for making the team as well.  I don't think I left anybody out.

When I watched the LU/IWU game, it seemed as those the LU coach was more out of control compared to Trost.  The guy was all over the court begging for calls.

I also had the opportunity to meet the NCAA rep while he was taking away megaphones from Augie fans (mainly children) during the first game on Friday.  The guy was rude about the whole deal and seemed like he didn't know his rear from 2nd base when talking to the kids' parents.

So all in all, only three problems that I saw while I was there on Friday...the LU Athletic Director, the NCAA rep, and the fake tickets.

Everything else was great.  I enjoyed the small gym and overall had a fun time.  The long ride was definitely worth it.  Plus the 30 bars in 3 blocks was pretty cool, not to mention the Subway open at 2:30 in the morning.

On the counterfeit tickets:

I was easily one of the last to enter for the 2nd game on Friday and when I gave my ticket to the ladies at the admission table I overheard a guy in a suit talking to another adult about his ticket being a fake.  The suit mentioned that if he could point out the kid that sold him the ticket, he would get him his money back and have the kid arrested.

I'm not sure if anything came about after that.

Congrats to the Titans, good luck in Salem.

I made a $20 bet Friday night during halftime of the IWU game that the Titans would win it all.  I like my chances.

On a side note:

I always thought Coach G was bad with being all over the court during a game, but the coach from LU was ten times as bad.  He walks the whole sideline from scoring table to baseline and has no problem with being ten feet out on the court.  What was more surprising is that it didn't bother the refs.

The last time I saw a team so hot to start a game was when IWU was at Augie for Senior Nght (Thomas, Carstens, Clemets...) and IWU started the game 28-3.  Last night, LU put on a 3-point shooting clinic to start the game.  It was amazing, they never missed.  They also had 15 assists on 16 made shots in the first half.  Not bad.

Great season for Augie and both Harrigan and McAdams-Thorton.  They were fun to watch all year and they deserve a lot of credit for winning the CCIW title.

I would have really liked to see how much the game would have changed if Wessels was in the lineup.  With Wessels, I think the turnovers would have been lower and he would have gotten the ball down the court much quicker.  Not only that, he plays incredible defense and it would have been nice to have him guard the ball.

Speaking of AD's.  The AD from Lawrence was very rude to the IWU fans sitting in my section.  I think most of the fans were the IWU JV hoops team.  The AD came over to tell them that they could not stand during the game, yell at a LU player, and yell anything negative during the game.  To be honest, the fans weren't doing anything but sitting there waiting for the game to start.  The AD should have been more worried about finding everyone a seat or even concentrating on his own LU student section that was basically on the court.

I actually had a lot of fun sitting with the JV players.  The were all incredibly nice and they showed sportsmanship during the entire game.

Congrats to IWU for a nice victory.  Freeman was the man and he would get my vote for the team's MVP.

Good luck tonight.

i had been away since North Central's exit last week...but all this talk about bosses and teachers not knowing how long it takes to do projects is great. I agree. at a job i held during the summertime while i was in college, i would work MAYBE 2 hours total during the day.....my boss wasn't computer literate, so he figured things i had to do for him would take WEEKS when they actually only took a few hours. i kept a running talley of my solitaire scores and also started to formulate a theory about how the hearts game on computers cheats.

I had the same type summer internship.  Except my game was freecell and I played that all day long.  Too bad I didn't know about this site back then.  I would be an All-American, not just a starter!

I heard that Wessels is still out as of right now, but might still give it a chance.  At least Delp has really stepped up when asked in the last couple of games.

Does anyone from IWU have any extra tickets? There are 4-8 of us that want to go and if IWU still has some tickets, we would love it if you could grab us some.
