With D1 schools like UVA and Va. Tech, as well as ODU with Loughton, Hunter, and Williamson returning from last year's squad that lost to Mich. St. in the1st round, I would have figured it would have been one of those 3, if any Va. school.

Not knocking what GMU has accomplished, I think it's fantastic, just saying I would have never imagined them getting this far.

Now since GMU was the lone Va. representative, you're right, only possible team to pull it off.

As far as other Va. schools in tournaments,
D3 men's  --  VWC, RMC, CNU
D2 men's  --  Va. Union
D1 Men's  --  GMU
NIT men's  --  UVA, ODU

D3 women's  --  Bridgewater & Mary Washington (both lost in sweet 16), RMC (lost in elite 8)
D2 women's  --  couldn't find any
D1 women's  --  ODU, Va. Tech

Here is another question, also figured this was the best forum to ask:

Has it ever happened before that a state was represented in all three divisions of men's basketball at the final 4 in the same season.

D3  --  Va. Wesleyan
D2  --  Virginia Union
D1  --  George Mason ( never would have crossed my mind to be the D1 making it that far.)

If that is not enough to think about:
NIT  --  ODU

I think it's been a pretty unique post-season for men's basketball in Va. this year.

According to VW website, Adair is only the 4th jr. to receive the award in the last 24 years.

Also didn't understand how Myrick from Lincoln made 3rd team NABC All-American and Amelianovich from IWU didn't make any of the 3 teams.  Outside my bias for Adair being the best undersized post players I've seen in a long time, Myrick and Amelianovich were the best 2 players I saw all year.

Congratulations to the entire Marlin basketball family, players, coaches, fans, everyone.  I've had the pleasure of following your run for the past 2 seasons.  I also have a few thank you's to give out.

3sdown  --  Thank you for the bulletin board material that VWC will not win the ODAC tourney and will be eliminated early in the NCAA tourney........28 straight, good call.

swish3  --  For saying that if VWC din't beat Lincoln and advance to the Final 4, their season was a failure.  Glad to know that the Marlins didn't disappoint you.  Don't remember CNC (notice they were a college then) win a National title with Strothers and Artis or Artis, Berry, and Boykins.  If Chowan hadn't been kicked out of the USA South, CNU wouldn't have made it to the tournament.

To all the IWU fans  --  VW is located on the Va. Beach/Norfolk line and is where you can find the National Cahmpionship trophy.  For those that didn't understand the saying "FEAR THE FISH", a marlin is a really big Fish that lives in the ocean, and also our mascot.  Didn't miss the green on Sat. night.

To all the Witt fans  --  Thanks for the comments in the lobby of the Wyndam Hotel that the winner of Friday's Witt/Amhearst game would be the champ after they beat IWU in the finals.  Thanks for counting the Marlins out.  Don't miss all the red today either.

Last, but not least, Pat Coleman  -- [INACCURATE STATEMENT REMOVED].  Then you replied to another post saying #7 in the country and always considered the favorite, kinda contradicts your post of IWU being the heavy favorite.

Thank you all for letting me stand on my soapbox and vent.  Again, congratulations to PJ, Marques, and Matt..........going out on top and in style with a little bling.

Was at the Fishtank tonight for the game and have a question for the ODAC officials in charge of scheduling.  Since Feb. 4th, the Marlins had only had 4 conference games followed the 3 game ODAC tournament.  Prior to tonight's game, an 11-day lay-off.

For the first 33:59, the Marlins resembled the team I saw against Trinity the first game of the season.  Almost looked like the first game of the year for them.  At the 6:01 mark they trailed 54-47.  From that point until 58 seconds to go, they reeled off a 17-2 run to take a 64-56 lead and never looked back.

My question is this, why is the tournament so early.  Farmingdale had played at least 4 games since VW had last played.  Same with Macon last night against Wooster.  In games that mean this much,  Wooster and Farmingdale are a lot sharper and have somewhat of an advantage because of actually playing.

Seems that with a top-notch conference, you don't want your 2 hottest teams to cool off like they had to this year.
