Calvin's tournament at Wooster in the end of December has 3 of the top 8 teams (Wooster #2, Ohio Northern #5, and Calvin #8)! Not to mention UW-Lacrosse recieved the most votes for a non- top 25. Should be a great year!

It's official! Now released to the public:
http://www.calvin.edu/sports/mbasket/roster.htm
http://www.hope.edu/pr/athletics/mbb/mbbrost.html
Tall rosters, too!!! Maybe the tallest in recent memory for both? With the exception of 2 PGs @ Hope and 1 @ Calvin (who used to be @ Hope), everybody is 6-2 or over...Those create great mismatches when the Madonnas and Grace Bibles pop up on the schedule.
WOW! Calvin has 9 sophomores and no juniors and all three seniors are post guys. Looks they have quite the backcourt for the next three years. As for Hope, I've never seen so many freshman in their program, don't they know they'll get cut for transfers next year? haha.

Does anyone know who is playing for Calvin this summer?
I think everyone except that one guy who hit that one shot against hope last year.

That tourney is stacked. I am interested to see how they will pair them up.
Wooster was top five all last season, Calvin won the MIAA, and Lacrosse and Northern were in and out of the top 25 all season. Ridiculous, but very exciting!

Article about Hope transfers Zach Osborn and Tim Dykgraaf

....it also mysteriously jumps into a paragraph about a Freshman named Dustin Miller from Marshall
So it looks like GVW did have something up his sleeve even though he lost his prized recruits of Veltma and Mantel to Calvin. I wonder if GVW spoke at Dustin Miller's hs basketball banquet?

Unless, Calvin gets another kid in, I bet Veltema starts. He is better than Draayer right now. He is faster and thus will have a much easier time getting his shot off. He is much tougher to defend, because of this. That is some back court right there. I wouldn't mind hearing, Veldhouse and Veltema, for the next 3 years. Has a nice ring to it, eh?
Yes, Veltma is very good, but to say he is better right now than the guy who set the all-time 3 point record at Calvin? Easy with your words there. It's scary to think what Draayer would do against a bunch of high schoolers. The next few years should be interesting, but nothing is ever handed to anyone as proved with Calvin stealing a conference title from Hope this year. The select bank classic can't come soon enough.

I just found out today that Hope and Calvin's prized recruit John Mantel has committed to Calvin. Apparently GVW's speech at his high school basketball banquet wasn't enough for the 6'8 forward.

Be very thankful Calvin & Hope fans. Fans of most teams never get to experience the exilleration of the NCAA tournament.
Kind of like Hope last year.

Any word on all-conference selections? I think the voting was today.

It sure seemed like hope had more fans at the fieldhouse tonight. Especially at one point when Calvin's pep band continued to play a song during a time out that Hope's fans cheered "Let's Go Hope" to. At some point I expected the pep band to stop, but it was as if they were wearing orange and blue!

Anyone know the likelihood of Hope or Calvin getting a bye in the first round of the NCAA (assuming both make it)?

And finally, any non calvin fan has to be HATING the idea of Veldhouse for 3 more years. That kid is just special, especially for a freshman.
Unless he decides to leave early for the league...
