Any one know what happened to Andre Ruff at Rivier? He was their leading scorer and rebounder, but is no longer on the roster.

I was able to go to the Rivier vs. JWU game last night.  47-15 at the half (and it wasn't even that close).  I was however unbelieveably impressed with JWU.  They look like the favorite now to win the league especially with the Magnus loss last night.  Garrick and Greenaway may be the best two players in the league right now.  They are fun to watch because they play so hard and defend like crazy.

Congrats to Lance Bisson on win #1 at Rivier!  Nice upset last night of Anna Maria.

I was able to get to the Rivier versus New England College game tonight.  Gonna be a looong year for the Raiders.  Ruff and the transfer from Lasell can play.  Not sure if they can match their 4 wins from last year though, I think it hurts to lose Jake Nelson's leadership.  I will see them early next month vs. JWU, that should be an interesting one.

D3HJ,
I played at Riv back in the early days of the GNAC (mid-90's).  I was there before a lot of the current kids on the roster were born!
Look forward to following the league again this year.  Sounds like JWU could be the team to beat.

D3HoopsJunkie,

Interesting story...I actually just texted with him (he lists his personal cell # on the HoopDirt web site).  Just lobbed a text into him to see what would happen and asked what he was up to.  This was his response:

"Thanks for reaching out brother.  All is well on my end.  HD got big, fast, so I need to focus my energy on running this thing for a while.  Been a lot of fun!  Will follow the GNAC closely this season - great coaches in the league.  Keep in touch.  DK/AN"

Didn't realize the Suffolk coach left until reading D3HoopJunkies post from last week.  I checked in with one of my buddy's in the league and he told me today that he is that guy that runs HoopDirt.com.  I never knew that.

From the Albertus website:
For those who cannot make the contest, D3hoops.com will provide a live webcast of the game as veteran college basketball broadcaster Ted Sarandis will be on play-by-play and Suffolk University head coach Adam Nelson will serve as an analyst.
Same pair that did the game last year.

Question for the GNAC crew....I saw that the GNAC's leading scorer (24.9) Nwadike from Suffolk has not played in the last two games.  I just heard from someone I know who said he has a possible season ending injury.  Does anyone have any info on this one?  Would be a devistating loss for Suffolk.

Saint-Paul:
Great first half re-cap, thanks!  I have seen most of the teams play at some point, and I really think Emmanuel may be the scariest.  You mentioned chemistry issues.  If they solve those, I think they may have the most talent in the 3-8 slots.  The big posts are scary if they get going, and they have some guards that can score.  This could be there year to make some noise.

Watched Albertus at Suffolk online yesterday.  A few thoughts...

Sledge did not start, Wiggins did.  Any idea why?
Sledge scored whenever he wanted to once he got in, Big Vic had trouble though.  Suffolk's post scored on him almost at will.
There was a "brawl" with about 7 to go.  Not sure who from AMC got T'd, but Suffolk's coach and a player were ejected.  Pretty messy.  Also, a lot of AMC guys on the court, not sure about the rules about leaving the bench.
Biggest difference in the game - AMC went to the line 46 times (and made 36).  Suffolk only got there 26 times (making 22).
Suffolk is much improved - probably a top 4 team in the GNAC, so all in all a good win for Albertus on the road.

A couple of surprising scores from last night I thought.
I was definitely shocked that Rivier beat Emmanuel. Also, Mt. Ida only down 2 at the half at JWU and only losing by 15 is a pretty good sign that they are improved.  I thought Lasell's size would help them vs. St. Joe's - it didn't! St. Joe's shot 66.7% from the field for the game...wow!  Finally, Suffolk blew out Norwich, I thought that one would be closer.  Some interesting games tomorrow.  I will definitely watch JWU vs. Albertus - should be a fun one!

I was at EC for their tournament and saw Purchase lose to Newbery.  Unfortunately, if Albertus comes to play, this will not be close.  Purchase is a shell of the team that they were last year (I understand injuries have played a big part).

Don't sleep on WNEU.  Gelineau was a walk on at UMass-Lowell, but had a really good career at Waltham.  DeFeo is a vet who can lead a team at the DIII level.

Also, I think ENC will contend for the title.  By far the most athletic team in the CCC (sorry Curry).

After scouring all of the rosters that are posted, and talking to some GNAC people "in the know" here are a few roster items (from teams other than Albertus) that may be interesting...

Lasell lost Clyde Niba.  He is now at WPI.  I think that is a big loss.

Rivier got Javon Williams.  Was at New England College.  Had a big-time highschool career in Nashua.

Emmanuel gets Kyle Davis back.  He was a STUD in JC.  Looks like he will be a force inside.

Suffolk has Quinn McCartney on their roster.  Was a big-time player in Wisconsin a few years ago.  He is an impact player in the GNAC.

Rumors are that Norwich brought 15+ guys in plus a 7-footer.  Can anyone confirm this?  There is no roster up yet.
