But wasn't webster like 4-15 outside of the SLIAC last year? If they cannot win outside of thier own conference how can you make them a favorite? Unless you expect multiple SLIAC teams in the regional!

First I give love to the schools I think will win their respective conferences. Not enough of these schools play each other head to head to know so we have to wait until the regional to really find out.
1.   Carthage  (CCIW Champ)  Here until someone in the CCIW steps up and competes with them.
2.   Webster  ( SLIAC Champ) Will roll the SLIAC again, Non Conference schedule not as tuff this year
3.   Coe (IIAC Champ) Think they have the all around experience to make a run this year.
4.   Beloit (MWC Champ) Early season hype should keep them in the minds of voters.
5.   Ill Wesleyan (CCIW # 2) Could be the team to bring Carthage back to the pack.
6.   Buena Vista (IIAC # 2) They have some dynamic players that could carry them if they get hot again.
7.   Wheaton (CCIW #3) Talented enough to be top 5 and just might be.  Show me first.
8.   St. Norbert (MWC #2) Going to continue to win in the MWC will be in it with Beloit all year.
9.   Augustana (CCIW # 4) New faces but always tuff to beat much like #10 not going to just go away
10.   Wartburg (IIAC # 3) Not going to just go away in the IIAC. Much like Augustana.

WOW! I am still trying to figure what you were thinkin with this ranking? Webster ahead of all of those other schools!!

Upandin... you are digging yourself a hole here. Are you trying to say that the lower half of the CCIW is not as good as the lower half of the IIAC, SLIAC and MWC?

OUT OF CONFERENCE RECORDS IN 2009:
*Elmhurst, the last place team in the CCIW in 2009, was 9-8 out of league. Northpark was 10-7, North Central was 4-12 and Millikin was 6-8. That puts the CCIW's bottom four at 29-35 (.453%).

The IIAC's bottom four were 24-38 (.387%)

The MWC's bottom four were 25-40 (.384%)

The SLIAC's bottom four were 14-30 (.318%)

Dang!
I warned you Upandin. You called out BigPoppa and he brought down the thunder. Poppa, great work on the stats. I think we can all see that the CCIW is on top followed by the Iowans, the Midwesterners and the St. Louis guys in last.

If I could give karma, I would Poppa. I am sure someone will reward you for your quick strike on Upandin.

Up and In- do you realize that messing with Big Poppa is like messing with the Godfather himself? Every year, people jump on him and he usually turns out to be right. You have called down the thunder from God.

*This was just something to pass the time until opening day. Feel free to critique or add your own.

BP- Looks pretty solid and the CCIW lost a ton of talent from last year to graduation. The IIAC appears to have a very solid group of players back this year. The SLIAC is all Webster and the MWC is rising. Why no love for WashU?

North Central will have a new head coach next year. The school did not renew his contract for next year.

Who has the inside track on that position? Any CCIW assistants that would be great head coaches or any local guys who would be a good fit?

Will NPU head coach Luke Johnson go back to his coaching roots at North Central or stay put at North Park? Let's get some names flying around here.

Poppa- Are you going to apply? Sources have you coming back to the Midwest from Cali sometime soon. You have college head coaching experience and are a CCIW guy. It seems to be a natural fit for you.

I heard you got screwed on the Lakeland job two years ago. It looks like they made a mistake as they have fallen apart with their last two guys.

Poppa, I think your rankings are pretty close. Though I do think that Carthage will creep back to the top very soon. Here is what I predict for the end of the season ranking:

1. Carthage-cciw
2. Augustana-cciw
3. Aurora-nathcon
4. Wartburg-iiac
5. Edgewood-nathcon
6. Webster-sliac
7. Coe-iiac
8. Concordia-Chicago-nathcon

It is tough to tell early as teams play vastly different levels of talent in their spring trips.

Let's get off the knuckleballer and back to real baseball. Those who spend time debating the merits of a knuckleball have never seen the effectiveness of a fastball on the corner.

Is Otterbein going to be the real deal? I guess I am not a believer in them yet. Who do they play down south this year?

OVER RATED!!!!! OVER RATED!!! OVER RATED!!!

Big Poppa- I have a feeling that they are ranked a bit high. Certainly a top 30 team, but not #1.

I feel like this site could raise money by showing a pay-per-view fight by locking Oxy Bob, Wild Thing, and The Dawg in a room and setting up a few cameras!

"The Somebody's-Gettin'-Whacked SCIAC Showdown"

Any takers???

Odds???

I think we should set it up as a regional with rankings and all. Each poster chooses a region to be in and they get points thoughout the season. Top posters get invited to the regional and square off in the Posting World Series, held live on-line.

West region poster rankings:
1. Ralph Turner
2. Big Poppa
3. OxyBob
4. Wild Thing
5. Dawg Gone It
6. Browneagle
7. Captain Morgan (have to put myself in this, but lower seeded based on low # of posts)

... but I am still waiting for Dawg to ask why Redlands did not make my ranking!

The same can be said for the boys in Orange and black, as most of them can be seen hitting the weights and practicing basics and fundamental on peterson field.

If, by the Orange and Black, you are referring to Occidental, I have a few words:

"You can't polish turds." You can shine it up all you want, but it is still just crap when you are done with it.

Well William Robert Nolan didnt pitch at all last year and he should be alright he didnt throw at all in fall, just to be on the safe side.  He is started throwing sets this winter.  Baitinger didnt pitch at all this summer and threw only once in the fall.  He is also throwing sets now, but nobody knows how long eithers arm will hold up, they havent thrown a 100 percent as of yet.  It will be interesting to see how it works for the two of them.
I would have to say that the conference is going to be more competitive than last year, although there were some close games ripon was undefeated.  I dont see them doing that this year.  I see St. Norbert and Lawerence beating them at least once.  I think it will be a dog fight between Norberts and Lawerence to get make the tourney, but who knows at this point.

I think that Ripon is an average baseball team that plays in a terrible conference. Their record and stats are inflated every year as they are rarely challenged by anyone in the MWC. I am guessing that the majority of the MWC players could not play at either WIAC or CCIW schools (there are some exception, some great MWC players and some terrible WIAC/CCIW teams- UW-Superior, Wheaton, etc...).

I have to agree with Redhawk that Ripon is over rated at this point. He should know as he pitches for them.

GF, Ive seen them before and I would have to say that UR and Chapman had very similar seasons.

Dawg, here is the newest top ten rankings. I think you will find it more to your liking than the "other" poll. Maybe this will shut you up for awhile:

1. Redlands
2. Redlands
3. Redlands
4. Redlands
5. Redlands
6. Redlands
7. Redlands
8. Redlands
9. Chapman
10. Redlands
