Region 7 women's basketball / Re: MIAA volleyball

After revisiting the matter, the NCAA determined that the MIAA must abide by the original timeline.

Looks like the Commissioner Neilson's got a direct line to the NCAA.  I wonder what prompted the NCAA to reconsider their decision?  Must have been quite a task to pull everyone together on a Saturday afternoon to overturn their original decision.

How does this effect the MIAA auto-qualifier and any at large bids?  The pairings are done Sunday night and I cannot imagine they'd keep a at-large spot open.  Does this mean only one MIAA team can go to the NCAAs?

Does any school (with mens and women's teams) have a bigger difference in talent level/accomplishment than NYU.

NYU Men - win national championship
NYU Women - quite possibly in the bottom 10-15 teams in the country

Are both teams coached by the same staff?

Calvin College, Leer head Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country class

Calvin College was the class of Division III cross country last fall, winning the NCAA men's team championship by a large margin.

The Knights excelled in class, too, compiling a cumulative team grade point average for 3.430. By meeting both challenges, Calvin is the 2006 NCAA Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country Team of the Year.

The All-Academic Men's Cross Country Team of the Year is awarded to the highest-finishing school at the NCAA Division III Championships that meets All-Academic team qualifications (a minimum 3.1 cumulative GPA).

Pomona-Pitzer senior Will Leer, a senior majoring in mathematics, is the Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year. The announcements were made Monday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The All-Academic Athlete of the Year is awarded to the highest finisher at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships who meets the minimum qualifications for All-Academic individual honors (3.5 cumulative GPA).

Leer, the seventh-place finisher at the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships in West Chester, Ohio, has a 3.527 GPA.

Calvin won the NCAA men's team championship with 37 points, far in front of runner-up New York University (92 points). Calvin had three runners earn All-Academic individual honors – Erik VanKampen, Harrison Jorritsma and Jon Gries.

To be honored as an All-Academic Cross Country Team, Division III schools needed a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.1. Eighty-six men's teams earned All-Academic Team honors.

Eastern Mennonite University had a cumulative team GPA of 3.910.

To earn Division III All-Academic individual honors, runners had to maintain a cumulative GPA of at 3.5 or higher. A total of 108 student-athletes earned Division III All-Academic Men's Cross Country honors.

Saint John's University (Minnesota), Luther College and Brandeis University each had four runners earn All-Academic individual honors.

Middlebury College is the NCAA Division III All-Academic Women's Cross Country Team of the Year. Willamette University's Sarah Zerzan is the Division III All-Academic Women's Athlete of the Year.
