Cal Lu wins an ugly game 35-10 down in Whittier. The Poets would be nowhere if it werent for their QB. He had to do everything tonight. With penalty flags flying and whistles blowing the game wasnt a sight to see. Cal Lu came up with some big plays at times but had also shot themselves in the foot with stupid penalties and missed assignments. The Cal Lu-D did a good job of shutting down the Poets the mojority of the night with a couple of picks and quite a few sacks they stood their ground. The offense got off to a great start with 60+ yard scoring drive that ended with a wide open Brandyn Bennet in the end-zone.

Good to see that Redlands hung in there with the big cats tonight. Looks like the game to see is going to be the Kingsmen and the Tigers at Mt Clef stadium in a couple of weeks.

Congratulations to Cal Lu . . .  I expect that the Kingsmen will move up and have a shot at the top 25 pretty soon, though I'm a little surprised that the win at Willamette had to be a come from behind .  . .  do I understand that right?

cheers,

tooth
The Cal Lu game was a come from behind for the second straight week. With a costly fumble at midfield and a pass interference call to maintain a drive for the Bearcats the Kingsman dug a hole for themselves in giving up 16 points in the first half. But like last week the D went in at halftime made the proper adjustments and shut Willamette down. The offense finally got it going behind the arm and the legs of Danny Jones who was the Kingsman's leading rusher at halftime. Looks like the Tigers were getting a little complacent against CC. Good thing it didnt happen sooner or the CC guys would be here yelling UPSET!

Score is Cal Lu 2- NWC 0
Good to see the Kingsman come out after a gut-check and take care of business. Two NWC teams in a row take a fall and the Cal Lu D is turning it up. The offense is sputtering but they are having to replace 3/4 of their skill positions so they are probably still getting adjusted and with two weeks to get the kinks worked out and ready for conference play touchdowns should come easy.
-Redlands must be getting pretty worried about ball control and maintaining field position because if they dont get thos problems worked out we might be finding the Dogs at the back of the pack this season.
-Good win for Oxy, not that it wasnt expected. But i would be concerened that they are relying on Collins to be their form of defense this season.
-I wasnt sure who Carthage was, but the way they handled the Poets doesnt speak much for Whittier. Its looking like it is going to be another down year. They are on like their 3rd head coach in 4 years or something like that? Hopefully this one will stick around to make some changes, afterall werent the Poets a SCIAC powerhouse back in the early 90's?
-Good to see the Sagehens come away with a victory, although it was L&C a victory is a victory and is always a good way to come back from a loss the week before.
-Too bad that the Leos couldnt have a better outing against a pretty good Whitworth team. Hopefully they will get things heading in a positive direction this week. Injuries are part of the game and its the coaches job to gameplan with or without them, just hope they werent relying the legs of those two tailbacks that are hurt to get them through the year.

Quick question for those all those interested because I know I am, Do you think that Linfield will remain in the top 25 after a dismal 0-2 start?

Hey whats up everyone? Just joined, glad to be here. So my take on this weekends games:
-Trinity over Redlands, just dont think the Bulldogs are ready yet. They are going to need a spark to get it going.
-Pomona over L&C because well it's L&C but who knows.
-Carthage over Whittier, Whittier looked like they were turning things around last year but a loss to Puget Sound looks like Whittier of old.
-Whitworth over La Verne, La Verne has talent but nothing that Whitworth hasnt seen or handled before
-Oxy over Colorado College, the history and the travel for Colorado are two things going for Oxy, oh yea they happened to have a QB by the name of Collins.
-Cal Lu over Willamette, saw Willamette last season and not impressed. Kingsman know how to defend the fly, Squires and Aranda will have the D well prepared.
