I knew I should've spent some time at RMWC (aka Randolph College):

beenhit2hard,
I would normally agree with you. Except in this case, Montgomery has a weekly grade check system in place. All the players report to one of the coaches to let them know about their grades. I don't think this was an "oversight."

Just another black eye for the school during the Montgomery Era. He needs to head back North where he belongs.
On the Guilford issue, not so sure what eventually became of it. But pretty ironic that the player involved, Dion Rich, was one of Montgomery's first recruits at Emory.

Word on the street is the Emory D coordinator Stan Watson has taken a job at Bowling Green as Safeties coach.

"In high school, Garcon was academically ineligible as a freshman and sophomore, played a backup role as a junior and only became a starter during his senior season. He found his way to Mt. Union after failing to qualify academically for Division I."
Not picking on Garcon, but didn't that stand out to anyone else?

Bryan Moore has left his position as OC at Emory & Henry. Could it be frustration with the fact that Monty seemingly wouldn't relinquish control of the offense and prefers a run-heavy flavor as opposed to the balanced attack used by Moore at Thomas More College and during Emory's only winning season in the Montgomery Era? I suppose we'll never know.

While Monty will be given at least another year or two to prove himself (unfortunately), rumor around the King Center is that he may lose from one to three coaches on his staff. Not sure if the rumor is true or not and I don't know names, but I'd be willing to bet that Stan Watson is going to be getting some offers from a number of schools. He has shown what the D is capable of in his hands and is well deserving of an HC job or a spot on a staff at a higher level.

Monty for COY. Hands down, there is no competition for the way he calls plays. Especially with a late 3 pt. lead and the opponent pinned inside their own territory with 3 and 10.

I've tried to stay off of here and be good, but...
HOW ABOUT FOR EVERY THREE OR FOUR POINT LOSS EMORY HAS SUFFERED THIS SEASON DON MONTGOMERY HAS TO GIVE BACK $10,000 FROM HIS SALARY!?!?!? HE'D STILL MAKE $65K ON THE YEAR. SOME SAY OVERRATED, I SAY OVERPAID.

As someone who played under Wacker during the prime years and someone who is close to the program now I can tell you that we are a whole lot better off than we were 3 years ago.
Writing a check doesn't make you close to the program.

Just found this in the Bristol Herald Courier:
"...Four of his teammates, including Caleb Jennings, the southwest Virginia Offensive Player of the Year as named by the Herald Courier, will sign with Emory & Henry on Friday at 2 p.m.
The others headed to E&H are linebacker Brett Clayburne, defensive back D.J. Simmons and wide receiver C.J. Arms."
It seems Emory will have quite a Richlands contingent next year with Keene, Thad Wells, Cain Ringstaff and the above mentioned.

Without it being the season info is hard to come by. That being said, word is Emory has gotten a few transfers in that should look to help the program next year. I don't really know that much about names or info, but it appears CJ Johnson has transferred back in from UVa-Wise and that Thad Wells is back in school. Also, former Richlands standout Cain Ringstaff has transferred from UVa to give Emory more presence in the backfield. This should prove interesting in seeing the development of the offense next year and the race to see who will replace Woods and Co. as the source of offensive firepower.
And as an addendum, my take on the Guilford situation. Obviously none of us knows that much about what happend that night, but I think that when you couple that incident with the Dion Rich incident things aren't looking so hot with the ole ball coach. Just my take though.

E&H might've struggled to 1-9 in 2005, but they could've still beaten Mount Union.
Emory & Henry beat
Catholic who beat
Randolph-Macon who beat
McDaniel who beat
Bridgewater VA who beat
Hanover who beat
Mt St Joseph who beat
Wilmington who beat
Muskingum who beat
Baldwin-Wallace who beat
John Carroll who beat
Ohio Northern who beat
Mount Union

EMORY WILL BE PLAYING MT. UNION!
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), it will be this coming Friday night at the Wooster Invitational. Let's see how Johnson's Waspers do against the Big Purple.
